Okay, I couldn't post this along with the screaming lobsters, so...

Thanks to all about the Kindergarten support. It is difficult. Caili and I are very close (not that Liam and I aren't, but it is different) and she has always been so Mommy-attached. I am glad to see her growing and being more independent, but I will always remember how for so many years she would climb into my bed, curl up next to me, and perfectly fit in the curve of my body. My arm would go dead asleep, but I wouldn't move it because I didn't want to wake her up.

Anyway, with all that, I figured dessert was in order. I have been craving blueberry pie lately, and Caili and Liam greatly approved. We had sausages (and peppers and onions for me) for dinner. But the dessert was the highlight. Here's a pic. It isn't fattening to look at it!

I think it's wonderful that you're so close! Our school asked for parent volunteers who were willing to come in, maybe yours does too? That may make it a bit easier.

We have 3 boys, who I love to death. But I was definitely ready to see them on the bus. :goodvibes

ps The pie looks yummy!!!!

Aimeedyan, I love that puppy in your avatar!!! Is that a Wheaten?

That's baby Harley - a Shih Tzu - as a puppy. Here he is all grown up, his coat changed SO much - it still continues to lighten. He doesn't like the flash :lmao:

Ok all the truth with the lobster screams, BUT first let me say this: I grew up on the lobster boats....My uncle (a marine zoologist) and father (a lobsterman, barber and then in later years worked for the DMV----he can cut your hair, fail you for your license, and tie a bib around your neck in 10 min, lol) used to tie me with a rope when I was just starting to walk until I was around 5 so I could get around the boat but not go over board (thoughtfull huh?!!?) I was hauling pots by age 6 and by 7 I was putting stakes in their claws.....and yes one did get my finger and break it....SOOO onto what I know of the lobster and their cooking "sounds"
------Yes they do make a sound that seems like screaming, but it is only really the sound of vented steam from the layer of seawater between the lobster’s flesh and its carapace.
Cooking live lobsters does not result in a quick and painless death.(no matter how you stick them in the boiling water)it usually takes lobsters between 35 and 45 seconds to die in boiling water.
(if you cook a dead lobster (one that has been dead for more then a few hours you will get very sick with a form of food poisoning, bacteria starts to grow very quick)
Even if you cover the kettle and turn away, you can usually hear the cover rattling and clanking as the lobster tries to push it off. Or the creature’s claws scraping the sides of the kettle as it thrashes around. (this is when you have a lot of water in the kettle, which I reccomend) The lobster, in other words, behaves very much as you or I would behave if we were plunged into boiling water (with the obvious exception of screaming).

I am sure that this all sounds very cruel to you, and I am sure it would to me as well, had I not grown up with this being our way of life.....when my dsil (a true southern belle from S.C.) came home with db for the first time, she could not stay in the room while we dropped the lobsters in the water (though she did take pictures of the races)...............and she didn't have any problem dipping them in butter 20 min later;)

When we get our "road trip" together and get here to Maine .....I will cook them for you all.......all you will have to do is crack 'em up, and start dipping!!

Sorry for the long "chat" oops

That is how Ross and I are.....he is my baby boy....we are super close and he still at the age of 10 loves to cuddle up with me......as long as there are no buddies around....I have had to start watching myself, and what I say around him when he is with friends, cause I don't want to be one of "those" moms, lol. I love that he keeps getting more and more independent, but it makes me sad as well.......I mourn what moments I lose, and I cherish and enjoy the new ones!
He will always say he loves me and give me a hug in front of them.........a few weeks ago I stopped into his classroom to say hi ( i was lending a hand in another grade that day) and when he hugged me one boy must have given him a strange look cause, ds said to him "what... you don't love your mother??" It does help that most all of his classmates know me as I have been volunteering since preschool and I am in the school (his room or another) about 3 days a week or more.

Oh and the pie looks delish.....I just might have to make one this weekend.....

Maybe we could give them a cocktail first and they wouldn't scream.;)

Nooo we have the cocktail(S) and then you don't care about the sounds...:cool1:

I REALLY need to learn how to do the multi quote thingy........lol

Oh, yum!!! Did you make the blueberry filling from scratch? I've never made a blueberry pie, but yours makes me want to try!!!

I know what you mean about Caili! That's the way I feel about my DS. He is my "snuggle bug". When he was 3 years old, the twins and I came down with strep throat at the same time. The doctor put our entire family on antibiotics, and we quarantined ourselves for several days. I was the worst out of the family, and just stayed in bed. Jacob would climb into the bed with me, and stroke my forehead. He would try to tell me stories, and sing me songs so I'd feel better. It was so sweet! I hate to think of him growing up and not wanting to hug me! Today he told me that he wants to be my partner on all the rides at Disneyland! Fine by me!!! He still believes in all the magic, and I want to enjoy that as long as I can.

You got a deal, Wendie!!! I'm looking forward to learning all about it someday!

Wendie, I'll help you on the Lobster Boil, even if they scream their little lobster heads off! I think as a real Cajun Girl I can handle it! I have cleaned fish, picked through the fish & the shrimp on a troll boat, while swatting at gnats & mosquitos, baited the nets & pulled the crawfish out of the nets while my Daddy waded through hip deep water gathering the nets, eaten fresh raw oysters just out of the water opened on the boat gathering the oysters! I think I can handle a few little lobster screeches!!!!! Although just cracking & dipping sounds real good!

My DH & I were talking about the handicapped driving system he will be getting very soon & where in the country he would want to see & drive to. Up the East Coast was one of his goals! So this trip might just be something we could actually make happen!

Tonight we are having Glynis roast with carrots, smashed potatoes, and garlic bread. Comfort food, MMMMMMMMMMM!

WFD at your house?

TGIF all! Tonight will most likely be pizza as it's Friday night. Probably a Freschetta out of the freezer, but pizza none the less.

Sheryl......you would make a fine "mainah" then!!! I have to agree with you, there is nothing better then an oyster straight from the water!!!

You would love the coast of Maine....you and dh get here and dh and I will be your personal tour guides!!!

wfd tonight-----now that is a great question..........no clue........I will come up with something......if it gets to be to late, and I have no clue then it will be pancakes and bacon...............ahh ahem.........in fact ummm you just can put me down for pancakes and bacon.......:rolleyes1

I am quickly checking in this morning. I had a breakdown this morning when A could not find an essential part of his baseball uniform...and I freaked out...I guess I am stressing because of the wedding but I really need to get this place a little more organized so I have 2 big bags of full of clothes for good will and garbage. I am on a roll.

Are any of you coffee drinkers? If so, you can fill out a survey for Senseo and you may win and coffee system and coffee...we love our Senseo...and we won another one!!!

Here is the link:

WFD? DF has been wanting a big juicy cheeseburger so that is what I'll cook...I think I'll spoil him and even make them msyself!!! :rotfl: Probably a salad on the side. Maybe I'll splurge and make Glynis Potato Salad!!! :)

Have a great day!

Nooo we have the cocktail(S) and then you don't care about the sounds...:cool1:

Now you're talking! And after working my way through college in restaurants on the coast, very little makes me skittish. I'll even help you cook them. BTW, where in SC is your sil from? We do crabs on the coast and they have to be cooked live, so I can't imagine she is a lowcountry girl.

:lmao: Nah, I wish!!!!! It's Sweet Baby Ray's - I've heard so much about it and I've looked everywhere down here for it. Wendie was sweet enough to send me some!

TigerKat - try looking again. I've been able to find Sweet Baby Ray's at WalMart & at the local Associated Grocer (AG) Food Stores here in BR & Prairieville. The AG food stores in NOLA pull from the same warehouse here in BR, so if you ask, the manager should be able to order it for you. The problem might be it's popularity.

To stay on topic, WFD last night was my spin on tomato soup & grilled cheese. I doctor up Campbell's with cream / milk & add basil. Not quite LaMadeleine's tomato basil, but pretty close! WFD tonight...haven't decided. T-ball for DS at 6:15 if it doesn't rain, so it'll have to be quick & easy.
