.....and....

Glades Central is one of the best high school football teams in America. They play 4 quarterbacks and hit you with big plays combined with speed, speed, speed.... Naples was behind 10-3 at halftime for the first time this season. Our starting quarterback was out with a sprained ankle and his back up made a couple mistakes. The second half we displayed some speed of our own and WON THE GAME 27 - 24! PAYBACK! That was the biggest hurdle to State. Cocoa is next and, not to talk trash or anything, they don't have a chance.

mac- I think I heard you yellin' but it was way too early. Must have been Chicago time.

tlinus- Congrats to the Green Raiders. Sounds like it was all Hodges? Parkland might pose a problem. Good luck!

All of a sudden I've got anyone calling to see if we are going up to the Citrus Bowl. A friend's son plays in the band and the band must be pretty good too. New Balance came down to the Naples Grande Thursday to unvail a new shoe and they asked the band to play at the resort. All band members got new shoes.
My son said the Glades Central band was real good with lots of booty poppin' and all.

Woo Hoo!!! Congrats Naples! Take State!!!!

Okay basketball is over, off to a birthday party at the mall. Weather is very crappy here today. Wanted to go to the Christmas tree farm to get a tree today but that is out of the question. Maybe it won't be raining tomorrow and we can do it then.

Be back later to get closer to that 3000 post mark!

Just got a frantic call from my mom. Seems like a huge pine tree in her yard just blew down across the street taking with it the power and telephone lines. Sounds like it missed the neighbor's house across the street.
It's 20 degrees here and blowing a gale. Looks like I will have her and step dad over here for the day until they get the power turned back on. Off to tidy up the house before heading over to pick her up. I hadn't planned on entertaining them today...They have the street blocked off, so gonna have to bundle up and walk.
YIKES!

Tall trees are scary during windstorms. At my old house, there was a large oak in the back yard. Hurricane Charley uprooted it. Thankfully, the tree went AWAY from the house and into the empty lot behind. If it went toward, it would have crashed into the living room.

Fletch - Sounds like it was a great game! I hope they go all the way!

Lori - We're planning to get our tree tomorrow. The farms around here, even the cut your own, are too expensive. We make do with a 6-7 ft from Home Depot or Lowe's.

I have a huge oak tree at one end of my house. It sits in the curve between my driveway and the garage. I have been raking the leaves that blasted tree sheds for the past week and they are still coming down. If it ever goes, I hope it is away from the house. If it comes through the house it will take out our garage and our bedroom... maybe even some of the living room.

Hi guys! Bet you've all forgotten me again! I was also about 20 pages behind here, so I'm just going to do what I can. I kept trying to post yesterday, but either the DIS or my computer were too slow when I had a chance and it kept timing out.

Oh, first of all, I have to tell you. DH is missing DS12's Christmas piano recital because that weekend (2 weeks from now) he HAS to be in St. Louis for business (after being out of town somewhere else all week). Well, guess what he JUST figured out? :confused3 Completely coincidentally? :sad2: The Packer's just HAPPEN to be playing in St. Louis that weekend! So although he was supposed to come home Saturday night, now of course he should just stay until Sunday so he can support them, right? Right? Well, that's what he's claiming at least.

Isn't it amazing that the Packers' just HAPPENED to be in Denver when he went out there for business and just HAPPENED to be in Detroit when we were home. Aren't these amazing coincidences!

Lori - I've been here a year and a half longer than you (OMG - I'm at 8 years - let's celebrate!  ) and I just broke 1500 posts! Guess I really don't talk enough. If it wasn't for this thread, I'd probably be under 1000 still! (Note to go back to Mac's last tally and check it out!)

Anyways, we're in the midst of a winter storm warning. Saying 4-7 inches, but it's been snowing like crazy all afternoon. They cancelled our city Holiday Parade, that my boys were supposed to march in. Only wish I'd gotten more warning since I spent a good half hour this morning digging through all my ski stuff pulling out long johns, polartecs, hand warmers, etc. Then got to put it all away.

Eric (DS12) played at the mall today for Christmas music (piano). Each teacher had like a 15 minute time slot and several of the kids got to play a few songs. Only problem with his was after he finished his first song, the teacher placed it on top of the piano, which was open. The music fell into the piano and got caught in the hammers inside, while he was playing! :rotfl: Had to run over and reach in and pull it out, while it made funny noises!

I spent much of the day yesterday at Walmart, getting my snow tires put back on my car (along with the rest of the Green Bay population). Nothing like waiting until the last minute. DH took his car to Walmart as well - I drove down where he works, met him there, ate lunch with him and drove him back to work (about 20 minutes from here), only for them to call him an hour later and tell him they couldn't do it because the tires were the wrong radius? Never mind that he's had them on the car for the last 2 years and THEY put them on last year. So I had to drive back down, get him at work, drive him back to Walmart (a different one than I was at) so he could get his car! Now he has to go somewhere else tomorrow, after the snow (and everyone else in the word!) is there! Sigh - fun way to spend a day!

Meanwhile, DS15 and DH are out practicing driving in the snow (well, actually DS15 is - I think DH has had some practice with it in the past! :lmao: ). Hope they come home with my car still in one piece!

Well, I'm off to work on the Christmas stuff. We did get the lights up outside this morning before the snow. At least it's warmed up a bit - it's a balmy 27 right now! Don't think it's reached 20 the last few days, and we've had horrible wind and wind chills below zero, so it actually feels kind of nice out. (well, except for the heavy snow part!). Got the Christmas tree out of the attic (we bought an artificial one to try for a change when they were all 75 percent off after Christmas last year). So I only have left to:

Wrap about a zillion presents.
Ship most of those presents.
Write a newsletter.
Make Christmas cards.
Print out 100 Christmas cards, one side at a time (this is never a fast or easy process since I can do 3 max at a time without jamming the printer)
Set up the Christmas tree.
Hang up 3.5 zillion ornaments.

Well, guess that's a start point!

Sorry I didn't get to address everyone (anyone?!) - I'll try harder later!

marci - me also thinks hubby is scheduling his "business trips" based on the Packers football schedule.:)

TY UPDATE:
Evidently, my niece got her communication mixed up and she was unable to make definite plans for today (Saturday). Anyhoo, today was the first day "spectators" were allowed on the site. The construction schedule has them finishing up on Thursday. I am going to check with some of my business contacts and see if I can score some tickets to the reveal party. If not, I may go over Monday or Tuesday night.

My men just left for the WVU-PITT game tonight. It is going to be COLD! DS12 has:
underarmour shirt
T-shirt
hoodie
football shirt to go over hoodie
his winter coat
my winter coat (due to my "petite" size, it will fit over all of this)

I don't know how he is going to move!!!

I am off to Wal-Mart - going to pick up a couple of gifts and my game snacks for tonight.

Catch you all later.

-Jennifer-

Tricia- you handled Fluffy Muffins with grace and diplomacy. :goodvibes
I hated her type in school. just wanted to beat the pink stuffing right out of them.

well- here goes-
remember, I AM monkish.:rolleyes1

everything is wrapped. will all be mailed monday.
Cards are done, will be mailed monday.
all shopped and totally finished with xmas.
my secret ornament has been delivered.
since we are not decorating this year or doing lights( i only do it every couple of years anyway) that is not an issue.

Please dont hate me. well, go right ahead. I will still love you all anyway. :surfweb:

Home from birthday part finally. UGH! Now we are getting ready to smoke some steaks and get ready to watch our Sooners try to win another Big 12 Championship, gotta beat Missouri again then we will find out which bowl game we get to go too. Seems as though no one wanted the National Championship this year. Every time a team had the opportunity to go to #1 they choked and blew a game they should have won. OU did it twice this year. I have had to listen to so many people whine about OU not playing for the National Championship and all I can say to them is that they do not deserve to play for it. If they had done their job and won against Colorado & Texas Tech (can not believe they lost those games!) then they would be. It is their own fault. Next time maybe they will do their job! And I am a huge OU fan, just expect much more out of them.

Well, anyway...GO SOONERS beat MIZZOU!

Penny - I am so sorry that you dislike the holidays so much. Glad you are through with what you have to do. You can come help me if you get bored!!!!

Marcie - I think Royce is planning his business trips around football. I'm not buying it!!!!

Jennifer - I hope your guys don't freeze at the game tonight. And I hope you enjoy it even more in your nice warm house!!!
