Well, MOST of the dishes are done. The tons of leftovers are in the fridge. And, we're really beat! But, it was a very fun day.

Here's the real kicker... Virtually ALL of the DCL napkins remained unused...:rotfl2:

Thank YOU all. It made it extra special to come to the boards and read up on your party planning -- share the frustration -- and share the joy of the party process (and one of us winning a cruise! - YAY NSLM!).

By the way, Houseparty sent us a replacement DVD via Fed Ex. It was a hit here, too. While I'm on the topic, we were most impressed by all of HP's efforts. DISers and DCLers really a tough crowd -- and I thought HP's service was friendly, responsive and overall A+ -- especially when the heat was on. Good job Houseparty! :flower3:

See around the boards...!

Congradulations to NotSoLittleMermaid on winning the cruise, I bet you were shocked. To Eric, Julie, Hailey and Jessica we too finished our party at 10 pm tonight, wow are we tired, 38 in attendance not counting 5 members of the hosting family, A super big THANK YOU to Sandy, she is co-owner of a travel company and drove in to help us, about 2 hours or so and I believe she received a couple of quotes or bookings. There was more food than anyone could eat, games galore, several hundred cruise pictures placed on the tables for all to view, we also have taking way too many pictures and wilol get them posted for all to see. We are booked for #14 on November 8, 2008 Eastern. KUDOS to everyone at HP, they were super in all they did and yes we are a tough bunch, Disney Fans to the end. I would think Disney would send them on a cruise and then they too would understand. Soooooooooo to all the super Disney Cruise Fans out there, good night and may God Bless.

We had a great time and would consider doing one again. All of our pictures are posted at DCHP. I wish we took more but there was a lot to do in a short amout of time. As guests arrived, DH took their picture in our dining room which was transformed into a cruise ship. Our living room was decorated like Castaway Cay complete with grass hut.

The children (and parents) watched the DVD. Then one of our neighbors who runs an art studio came over and held a Learn to Draw Mickey class for all of the children while the adults watched the other DVD. I was surprised at how good a lot of the drawings came out.

After the dawing class, we had a raffle and every child (11 of them) won! We had made bags filled with candy, a pirate ducky, small bar of Mickey soap, grow a pirate, and a beach safe. The children loved them. For the adults, I purchased a bunch of stuff such spa kits, candle sets and Disney Christmas ornaments (thank you Sandy) along with the photo album from Disney. Everyone seemed happy with their prizes. We asked the children who wanted to have a Disney poster or Peter Pan masks and then had them guess the number we were thinking. For the grand prize, the plush Mickey, we put gold coins in a bag and only one of them had a number on it. We let everyone take a coin until someone picked correctly.

There was plenty to eat and a lot left over too. We set up a Beach Blanket Buffet with peeled shrimp, coconut shrimp Caribbean jerk chicken, hot dogs, pasta salad, the chili/grape meatballs (they were a big hit), deli platter, cheese, crackers and pepperoni. Dessert was limited to a DCL sheet cake, brownies and cookies. I was planning on making sand and dirt cups but didn't have enough time.

The only thing that would've made this even better was if we won a cruise! Ah well! There is always an opportunity for one of our guests to win and I am glad that someone from here won one of the cruises. That's great news!

Well, DH is already in bed. We are exhausted but glad all of the dishes are washed and put away. Now all that is left to do in the morning is dismantle the cruise ship, tiki hut and Castaway Cay.

Btw, the good news for DCL is that several people who attended our party have decided to book a cruise. I'm going to bed. Good night to all and I hope your DCHP was a wonderful and magical event!

What a wonderful party! We had a great time and our last guest finally left. We watched the travel DVD, the Travel Channel's special on Disney Cruises, looked at pictures and talked about cruising while everyone ate. We even have one friend interested in booking a cruise for when we go on our next one, she just has to talk to her husband! :goodvibes

After we all ate, we did some price quotes for some people and played Disney Scene It and Tower of Terror Club until everyone left. So much fun!

I served island spice chicken wings, meatballs and smokies BBQ style, An "All Hands On Deck" platter, spinach dip with hawaiian bread bowl and bread for dipping, and the big island cookies. :)

I'll upload pictures tomorrow! A great time was had by all and I can't wait to do another one sometime soon! :thumbsup2

WOW, is all I can say about the party we just arrived home from, John and Gayle you outdid yourselves, we had such a great evening!!! Thanks again so much for the invite to your party. I even saw my mom and myself on the Rick Adams DVD, what a surprise that was, we had a good chuckle about that......

Well, it's been a long day, and I'm going to at least try and get my pics loaded into my laptop and will work on them in the morning.......

Well, the planning is over, the party is over, the house is a mess, we're cleaning tomorrow and then starting Monday...it's back to the health club to get ready for our November vacation to WDW followed by 3 nights on DCL!

We had a blast! I had a better turn out than I thought I would. It seemed like everyone was going to cancel at the last minute and I was starting to hit panic mode.

Then, just hours before the party, I started hitting a new sort of panic mode...I was making the goodie bags for the kids and the adults and then realized I only had enough for those who actually rsvp'd. (Even though some of them almost cancelled on me) I started thinking how bad I'd feel if someone showed up who hadn't rsvp'd. But then I figured that was their fault for not rsvp-ing! Luckily, that didn't happen.

The party went on...as my guests entered the door I said "Welcome Aboard" and I took their picture. We ate and then we played Disney DVD Bingo. I gave the winner of that game the photo album I received in the HP package. I kept the Minnie Plush for myself...she was too pretty to give away and I take WAY more pictures than what that photo album could hold.

We showed as much of the kids DVD as we could before the DVD player couldn't read the disk anymore. Then we watched the travel channel's episode of DCL. Then we showed our pictures from several of our cruises to those who hadn't yet seen them. Next game up (just for fun because I only gave one prize away and that was for Bingo) was Disney's Scene It. That was pretty fun. :)

The rest of the evening was just hanging out. Then, finally at about 11:30 the last guests left.

It was an excellent experience and I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I had so much fun planning this. And I had even more fun during the party.

Thank you DCL, Thank you HP, Thank you fellow DISers! Hope to see some of you on future cruises!!

The party's over but the excitment is growing! We had a great time and it has really gotten us pumped for our cruise in less than two weeks.

The party seemed to be a hit and we've enjoyed and appreicated the experience. We have no complaints and hope for the chance to do it again.

Our theme was All Hands on Deck/Sail Away Celebration. We had everyone sign a Disney Autograph book and enter their names for "door" prize drawings. We also had a major two rounds of bingo. We had the Rick Adams DVD playing in the den for kids and parents, and our DCL DVD playing in the family room.

My DW did her typically phenominal job with food. She tried to present a sampling of the various specialties of the ships. For embarkation, we had shirmp and chilled mango soup. For room service, chicken tenders, All Hands on Deck Cheese plates and cookies. For dinner, a special salad she loves and chicken wings. For high tea - finger sandwiches, trifles and cream puffs. For Palo, chocolate soufle, panacata and dips and bread. For breakfast, cinnoman roles and danish. She also made Mickey rice crispie treats on a stick and we had a chocolate fountain. Quite the spread.

We were especially happy to have some of the Disboard family with us, Verandaman, Andy and Hazel and Wsscott, Linda and John (who will be taking their first cruise on New Year's Eve). Andy will surely have pics for us tomorrow. And we have very much enjoyed getting to know all of these folks.

So tomorrow it's clean up and then full scale cruise preparation!

Amen Brother!!! I'm still up myself working on the pics............:lmao:

Wow! We had a great party. I'm still not sure how many people we had over. Between all of the adults and kids I lost count. The food was a big success and of course I forgot to put out one of the dishes. Happens at every party. The kids had a blast upstairs in the Lab and made treasure boxes and watched the DVD. We had the travel special on downstairs. Lots of our friends were interested in the cruise and I think we have a few converts! The luggage tag favors were a big hit. It's been a long fun day. Hope everyone's party was as much fun! Time to now unwind and go to bed!

:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: partys over and I'm tired...it was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time. It started at 6 PM and ended it at 11:30. The videos and all my talking all these abot DCL years have many of my friends interested and want to begin saving to go.

Did I say I'm realy tired. I liked the kids DVD that is the one we watched.

Have a great night and want to here all about your night tomorrow :thumbsup2 or should I say today :rotfl2: it is 1:02am :surfweb: ...and I dont think I told you this yet but I'm tired :rolleyes1

Great pictures Andy!!! Looks like everyone had a great time at that party!!!

Thanks!!! I finally got to bed a little after 3am and just got up a few minutes ago. What's funny, I tend to be a wallflower in large groups, especially if I don't know most of the people like last night, but let me get to talk about our past cruises, and you can't get me to shut up.........

I hope everyone's party, was at least half as much fun, as the party we went to. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
