Kennedy Space Center

Well, 3 days since I wrote the first congressman and still no reply. So, I decided to try another congressman in my state and no one has responded from his office either. *thumbsdown*

Glad to see some of you are getting hooked up, but I'm kinda expecting the response that some of the recent ones received, if I ever receive a response.
3 days isn't a long time. I'd give it at least 3 weeks and see what happens. I often don't get to return phone calls in 3 days and I'm not even a congressman.
Maybe he/she is waiting for someone to reply back to him/her.

I know 3 days isn't a long time, I was referring to those on here that got a turn-around in a matter of hours. Generally, a rule of thumb in most businesses (or at least mine) is 48 hours before at least touching base with someone even if it is an automated email saying "we got your email and will be in contact with you". Of course I'm asking for a freebie so I don't expect to be priority. I just know how my govt runs ( I once waited 6 months for a car title that sat in ATL for 5 months ready to be sent out :scared1: ) and as of the present time, I'm planning my trip budget to include purchasing my own KSC tix's.

Cocoa bch and it was a little cloudy went late thought it couldn't be too great and we were rushed in to the big bus tour, the shuttle was out on the pad so it was soo cool, we had a great time i didn't know about the free day...saw the 3d movie and that was it...
great tip..:goodvibes
when you leave there is a lady there who has tips for the area she told us about a great buffet place down the road w/steaks and fish we loved it...great southern buffet..

keep your eye out for the guy in the asto. suit ...

Thanks for the info!! We were debating on if we sould spend the money since out sons are 5, didn't know if they'd enjoy it or not.

Has anyone from Michigan gotten free tickets?

I am pretty excited, the other Senator replied to my question about the Space Center. They are going to fax for approval, but we leave on the 16th and come home on the 23rd. I don't know if we will get it in time!

I emailed my congressman yesterday and got a quick reply back this morning. The spokesperson for the congressman requested all our names and the dates that we wanted to attend. She said that if we get approved? for tickets they would come directly from the Kennedy Space Center. I am not sure if these means we will be getting them or not

Hooooray! My senator's constituent affairs dude came through for us! We have the approval.
The tickets are at the Sales Office and can be picked up there if that info helps anyone who is wondering how you get the tickets.

Been a little over a week and none of the congressmen I have writen to have replied. Even tried calling one and got a voicemail asking for a message to be left and they would return my call very soon. YEAH RIGHT!!

Glad some of you are getting some answers, as for me I'm giving up and just purchasing the tickets when we get to KSC.

I got my free tickets. The whole process took less than 2 weeks. I clicked on an email link on my congressman's website and wrote something to the effect of: "In researching for an upcoming family trip to Florida, I found a "tip" stating that congressmen could provide free passes to the Kennedy Space Center".

The first response asked for the date I was looking for and the ages of my children. I provided that info and about 5 days later got FREE Maximum Access Tickets sent directly to me via email. I looked this up on the KSC website and I believe these are $89 per ticket for adults. WOOHOO I never would have even thought of looking for discounted tickets. You guys are the best.
:worship: :worship: :worship:

Well a year long pass is 50/ticket so that would be the max value of the ticket.

Is no one else having a problem with some congressmen giving out free tickets to their constituents and others not. This is a quasi government agency and as far as my tax $ are concerned should be free for all or cost for all. I don't get this. However, knowing this the next time I go I too will be looking for the free tickets. Just hope my congressman participates.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

I have written to my Congresswoman and state Senators - we'll see how fast they respond, especially since one of my Senators is currently running for the Democratic Presidential nomination...

I'll keep you all posted if I hear anything!

I wonder what ticket I am looking at? It's on a ticketing page on the KSC website and it's called a maximum access ticket and it's $89. Even if it's worth $50 I'm still happy.

It's obviously an aide who is answering emails, it just depends on how knowledgeable this aide is. If they know about this, they can get the tix. I think I got lucky and the person who responded to my email has had this request before and knew who to contact. My confirmation letter for the free tix is from someone in the Legislative Reference & Analysis Division at NASA in Washington DC.

My problem is that NASA is funded through taxpayer $ and therefore, should be free for all or be a fee for all. If it's a private corporation who decides to comp some and not others OK, because it's not my money. This is.

I kind of feel like I'm paying twice. I've nothing against those who got the tickets, but it's just another issue for me to add to my list of taxpayer waste.

Sorry I didn't get the jist of what you were saying before. You're absolutely right, I agree there should be no freebies for some while others pay. And obviously I'm happy I saved money for my family, but I hear what you're saying. Government waste!

got an email today from Sen. Clintons office. 6 complimentary Maximum Access tickets for KSC for us. I am so excited. Thanks to everyone here who told us about this.

Anyone have luck from So Cal? I checked both my Congressman and Senator's sites and they don't have any info on KSC in Florida? Looks like I'll have to make a call.
