Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Ya know, after reading about 1/2 this book "Realityland," one of the things I remember is that Walt was totally opposed to advertising, especially billboards. He always said "NO BILLBOARDS!" And to drive down I-4, all you see are Disney billboards. That makes me kinda sad.

OK, I'm uploading my photos to photobucket now so I'll get them posted soon.

I'm gonna post all the pics on my TR, or PTR, or whatever you wanna call it! I'll detail the whole day over there. But suffice it to say that Ally was in control, and she wanted an adrenaline rush all day long!!!!

The first time we rode EE, we sat in the front row and I took tons of pics during the ride.....

Kara - You and Ally look so great! Love the Mickey ears!

Love the pix -------- and you're still NOT getting me on EE!!!!
(did you see Flights of Wonder?)

NO! We still didn't see Flights of Wonder!!! We rode EE 4 times, and Dino twice - when did we have time??? Actually, we could have seen it at 2pm, but Ally was hot and a little cranky at this time, so I didn't push it. Today was her day, and if she wanted to ride EE over and over, I let her.

It was funny though. After the third time, we were walking around, and I suggested we grab a FP for EE for later in the day and she was hesitant. She told me she didn't know if she could ride it again cause her tummy felt funny! :rotfl: Of course, she got over that pretty quick!!!

I'm so sore today! My knee is all banged up from EE and Dino - I always put my bag strap over my knee and then brace it behind my leg, but for some reason I couldn't get comfy a couple of times and ended up with my knee right up against the rail. Also, I cut my ankle on something at some point, and I got chewed up by something during the parade!

Even though we didn't do much, we did get a lot done, if that makes sense. If we would have only done EE and Dino once, that would have freed up for 4 other attractions during the day, which means we could have done Nemo, Flights of Wonder, FOTLK, and KS, if we had wanted to do all those. I was bummed that Primeval Whirl was closed for work, cause neither one of us have ever ridden that one, and she's just now tall enough. Oh, well, another time.....

As for EE, I think they've reworked it cause it seems wilder than it used to be. Still a smooth roller coaster, but I don't remember feeling the G's going backward as much as I did this time. Maybe I'm just getting older? :confused3

That's how I always feel at AK. I could spend about 5 hours at that park, hit the few rides and shows we like, and still feel like we didn't do alot. How did you like the parade? I don't think it's one of the better ones, but I do like the character interaction; seems like at that parade, more than any other one, that alot of characters come up to Amanda.:)

I really liked the parade at AK - it was really upbeat and the characters were great! Even the folks on stilts were very interactive with the kids. I loved the music, too. It wasn't your "traditional" parade, but I thought it was fun!

Now I still have the MGM parade to see. Pixar, right? Never seen that one either.

I knew when to hold on.... Plus, my camera is really easy to grip tight. And I also kept the long strap around my neck, just in case. But as soon as we started heading backward, i tucked it in my lap. I love this ride though!!!

I really like the AK parade, Chloe thought it was great, actually one of her faves .. Pixar was good and fun but not as good as Stars and Motor Cars in my opinion.

Oh gutted for you again that is 1 of my faves at AK .. Chloe just laughs all the way around, although that could have something to do with my mum giggling all the way round and saying how she's too old for it all hahahha :rotfl:
By the way looove the pics from EE :thumbsup2

Erin - I forgot to look for that info - Here it is! http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...s/ggLandingPage?id=GrandGatheringsLandingPage I think you do have to be staying at a Disney resort, but I'll bet if you called with a party of 17 for a special dinner or safari or something, they would accomodate you!

Thanks for the info i will definitely look into that as we will defo be doing a couple of meals all of us for Chloe's 11th B'day, breakie and dinner probably

Hi to everyone else
My course starts tomorrow, so little nervous hahahaha will fill you all in when am home

Hi everyone. I have been reading your thread and think I would fit in...as I am quite the control freak and worry wart, lol.

We leave for our trip in 2 weeks......I am usually soooooo prepared for any vacation. By now I usually have my lists ready, thoughts in order.
Unfortunately this time, the last few months I have had some stressors that have caused me and my brain to go into shut down.

Hopefully, you all can help me a bit. (lord knows someone needs to)

I have received my packet from WDW barely have looked at it!! :sad2:
I am thinking, not sure, but I think I need to print off my airline tickets from the email and take it with me.......am I????
Are we allowed only 4 bags, one per person, I know the airline may charge more.......but I only got 4 tags from WDW too. Eeeeek not sure I can use only 4!!!:rotfl:

I really have not been myself lately....the situation I have been in has suckeddddddddddd some life out of me. Anyway, I am getting back on track. I have a wonderful husband and 2 sweeeeet children.....what more could a girl want, right??!!!! lol

PrinceandPrincessQ - Welcome!!!!! :goodvibes

I'm not sure about the bags, I haven't flown since all the new regulations over the past year. I'm sure someone else on here can respond to that though. Debbie? Cammie? Tammie?

As for being prepared, you've obviously come to the right place. Have you checked around some of the other threads on the DIS? I learned so much on various tips, so much so that my trip in 2006 vs my trip this past May were like night and day as far as being prepared.

The tips I used the most are having all my park hours, ADRs, confirmation#s etc, printed on 4x6 cards and then laminated. I keep them tucked in my bag so if someone suggests hopping to another park I can make sure that will work based on expected park attendance, ease of getting to our next ADR, park hours based on after hours parties, etc.

Also, don't know where you're staying, but if in a Value (or really any resort IMHO), I bought the hanging shoe bag and use it to put all toiletries in and hang in the bathroom. It makes it so easy to find whatever I need while keeping the counter neat, and thereby not so cluttered and crowded looking.

Also, consider a dollar store pop up hamper. Also keeps the room neater.

Dollar store ponchos (actually 2/$1) not just for rainy days but also water rides if you want to stay dry. They're so cheap that if I use them for Kali River Rapids, for instance, I take it off and give to someone else waiting in line as I'm exiting. Plus, they're so hard to fold back up. I usually take 6-9 for our family of 3 for a week long trip. Just in case.

Let's see, I"m sure I'll think of more, but off the top of my head, those are my must haves for our trips.

Keep us posted!!!!!

Welcome Princess Q! :cheer2: It sounds like you're ready for a vacation! You've come to the right place! We love to listen, and we love to help plan.

As for the bags, yes you can only take one "free" per person, as well as a carry on and a backpack or purse. We don't usually take much for carry on, but since we can't take as many bags, we brought two carry ons for souvies plus my purse this past trip.

Look at the airline website for sure, but the standard weight allowed per bag is 50lbs, and they charge you $25 if you are overweight - no not you, but your bag! :rotfl2: On Horizon, a second bag was $50, and 3 bags cost you $125! We ran out of clothes on our Mexico trip - it was so hot - and I had planned to have some laundry done, but just spaced it. When we stay DVC, it won't be hard - I'm just going to bring less clothes and do laundry.

For planning, I love the passporter, which you can get at a book store quickest right now. There are tips and descriptions of everything, where to find info - which is how I found the DIS - and touring plans to help you plan the best way to get around. My best tips:

1. Get to the park at least 15min before opening.
2. We always pick the "big" ride we most want to ride and start there, when the lines are short. We send a runner up ahead to get a FP, then ride, get a snack, send a runner for a FP for the 3rd ride, then ride the 2nd one, etc. We get all of the big rides done before noon, have an early lunch, and then check out some of the small stuff, look around and shop or take a break at the resort.
3. We ride during parades - the lines are short then, too!
4. Your feet will love you if you change shoes every other day - they get sore from wearing the same ones every day - except for when wearing crocs - I can wear them every day.
5. Drink lots of water. Don't wait until you're thirsty. You go downhill fast in the heat.

Okay, I'll shut up! Happy planning!

TY for responding and for the tips!! :flower3:

I really have let this vacation slip up on me, your response actually has motivated me a bit.....I wish I was looking more forward to it than I am. Just not myself lately...but that is going to change....:thumbsup2

I will make sure to make the notes, get the shoe bag, the ponchos and MOST def the hamper. I can see that hamper on every vacation from now on, lol.
I really did write all of this down....hehe, so if anyone else has any tips be assured they will not go 'untaken'!!! I need tips and motivation. :)

Oh and we got lucky and had received a 40% off code, so we are staying at the Contemporary.......:yay:

I did make some ADR's a few months ago, looking at them now....not sure they are the best I could have done. Oh well.

Anyway, thanks again for the tips!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and dont shut up....keep up the good work!! :thumbsup2

btw.....I'm Sadie

Hi Sadie! :wave2:

Erin, I hope you have fun planning for your grand gathering! How is school going?

Kara - I enjoyed your pics on your TR! I'm glad you and Ally had a magical day.

Hi Laura, Debbie, Cammie, Tessa, Pam, Jillian, Renee

We have full fledged winter this weekend - cold and windy - snow was coming down on Friday - didn't stick, but Yuk! :cold: I'd better go get some dinner done. Talk to you later!

Hi Ladies...
My Baby boy turned 3 today!!! I can't believe it!!!!!
We had family over.... all was good. Only stomach ache was when Thanksgiving and Christmas were mentioned and I was reminded how I stress over the fact I can't be in two places at once.

Welcome Sadie! I am so excited for you. Listen though all the airlines baggage guidelines are different and they are also based on when you bought your tix so you should probably check the airline web page.

Gotta run! One day I will lounge here and chat away... I miss it!!!

BTW Our weather has been heavenly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 70's and sunny!!!! I love it!

Glad the birthday went well! I feel so bad when you stress so much about the holidays that it's hard to enjoy them. I hope you can find a good happy medium this year.
