The Flippant Trip - (new TWILIGHT TR update 11/16/09 bottom of pg 29)

I turn my head & don't really look when the movie trailer comes on the tv so I don't spoil my own imagination when I read the book.

That is actually the best thing to do. I was reading the book and was oddly delighted with it ... about 1/2 way through I heard there was a movie coming out (I Had no idea) and I went to watch the trailer. Blech. Bad idea.

Thank you for the compliments, BTW! :goodvibes

WOO HOO EIGHTEEN (SEVENTEEN) DAYS! but. You should start the book.

Thanks for the pictures of the dress and tickets. I didn't know you were now going with a group of gals. How fun!! You will have to have one of the husbands take a picture of you all dressed up and looking good. :cool1:

I need to start reading Twilight if I am going to be able to let myself go see it this weekend.
Have fun at the show tomorrow and report back- please. :yay:

I am actually trying not to start it tonight because I know I won't be able to put it down once I pick it up. The kids haven't been sleeping very well this week, so I haven't been sleeping at all. Therefore, I need to get one good night's sleep in and then I can stay up all night to read.

I am thinking you may be right about needing to go. A mantinee might be a good choice for me. My husband often goes to movies and out to eat by himself when he is traveling. It can't be that hard, right? popcorn::

Okay, with my dislexic-like reading lately,(just ask TRAVELME!) I thought you were saying that a Manitee would be a good idea - I was thinking WTH??? :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am sure the extra letter I threw into matinee didn't help matters. Oops. Got to watch that spelling.

Perfect! I want to re-read the first book but my MIL is the one who lent me a copy (the librarian :worship: - my only "in" on backdoor deals) and she subsequently sold it on ebay for $150. It was a pre-release edition. I was like, next time you lend me a ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLAR BOOK, please tell me! I could have done any number of bad things (accidently) to it!

Ahoy! Matinee ahead!! :sail:

:lmao:

Have a blast at your Twilight party tonight Melissa.

Wooooo! (anybody watch How I Met Your Mother? - I'm definitley going to be a Woo Girl tonight!!) Thanks! I'm a quick poster. I'll most likely have details by the end of the weekend!

So I attended the "prom" at the View Point Inn which is where the Prom scene in the movie was filmed. They did a FANTASTIC job of recreating the scene in the movie, including actual props! Here I am in front of the famous sign!

It was SUCH a unique experience to attend the prom then go see the movie and see the place we had just been minutes before :cloud9:

I liked the movie!
Yep, it had it's ups and downs. Some of the characters.. or more so the actors... didn't seem to fit in the movie as well as others. The movie itself was filmed in a unique way. Sort of true to life like Blair Witch Project but fantasy-ish like you would expect from a big budget. I dunno.. it's so hard to judge as a person who read the book. I don't think I'd ever be fair considering I know the "whole" story vs what was in the movie. Overall, BIG Thumbs up.

I didn't add my favorite scenes or anything in terms of a discussion on the specifics out of respect for those who haven't seen it. They got alot of things right, that's all I'll say.

I could go on about the problems I had with it (and I did, all the way home with my friends! :rotfl2: ) but essentially, what the heck. It was a fun ride. Anything to spend a little more time with the Cullens.

EDIT: In case you have no idea what I'm talking about.. here is a picture of the Viewpoint Inn. It is located in Oregon and it is the place where some of the scenes in the movie Twilight were filmed.

It is such a beautiful place. If you have the opportunity to visit DO. You can also help save the Inn-it's a historical place in need of repair by buying a Brick on their "Twilight Walk of Fame"

I've never read any of the books - just doesn't seem like my thing, but it sounds like a really unique and fun evening! Glad you had a good time!

Believe me, I did NOT think it would be "my thing." It's a very addicting story. You would be surprised for sure.

What a cool event you went to!! I have not read the series, but have requested a copy of the first one on hold at the library. I think I am #125 in line. :rotfl: I really want to read it before seeing the film. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Those pics are so cool!!! How fun. I've only read the first book. It was good. I don't know. I can't seem get past his age. :lmao: He's too young! LOL

I LOVE the looks of the View Point Inn. Wow. I hope the movie will help revitalize it.

Thanks so much for sharing. :thumbsup2

I think it'd be nice to see the film first, actually. After reading it you're really not able to "see" the film. You just see the book and how it is and isn't what you saw in your mind. I highly recommend seeing the movie FIRST. Then read the book. You'll have more fun learning the backstory later!

You're welcome! I'm glad you had fun with it. As for his age, remember this: He's not 17. He's over 100 yrs old. It's OK. ::yes::

Wow that Inn is gorgeous! What a view. I hope they are able to save it with help from tourism that will surely be drawn there by fans.

I'm glad for her but COME ON! She didn't even CARE! :sad2: She's going to give the room to her parents for Xmas. That will be nice for them. Just so ya know, I'm just kidding about being mad, it's all good. ;)
