DDA Chapter 15

Also, if you all could spare some prayers for a family at church. Apparently, their oldest daughter passed away this morning. They found her in her room (she lives at home). I think she's about 24. They don't know yet what the cause of death is, but needless to say it was a total shock. This girl was also the nanny for my former charges for the six weeks or so before me. I know that her family is really struggling with everything.

And on a lighter note, I'm wondering why Chase keeps calling me "buddy". Every other sentence tonight has been "all right, buddy" or "come on, buddy." It's really rather humorous.

Oh, wow. That's terrible! Good thoughts for her family!

Hey guys I need some prayers for a neighbor. Yesterday a 13 year old neighbor was getting off the bus and was hit and killed. The car nicked the bus and lost control and hit the girl. The sad part is that it was a hit and run and the guy was drunk at 2:30 pm. They did catch him and they had to tase him 3 time to get him controlled. We personally don't know the family but I know at this time of year it is hard.

How sad for both families! :(

Elin - I am glad the recitals are going well! The choir program at our school is rather, um, weak. The boys and the girls sang last night and it was pretty pitiful. I don't think the choir requires an audition, though, so perhaps the teacher is doing the best she can with what she has to work with!

It is a public school, right? I am guessing that she is not permitted to audition. But there are ways to still get a good sound out of kids who might have chosen choir instead of home ec or shop... ;)

Tonight we checked out the holiday decorations....they were very nice. They also had a Gingerbread competition.

Then we took a trolley to see the Christmas lights. The trolley driver decided to sing the entire 12 Days of Christmas completely off key!! By 5 Gold Rings we were all getting twitchy!!!!

Christopher proceeded to almost get killed by a revolving door....if I hadn't yanked him back by his coat I can't even imagine what would have happened.

Oh...and of course now there is a huge snow and ice storm coming for Friday when we are supposed to head back :scared1::scared1:

Would you like her e-mail? ;) The program said she has a Master's degree, so I would think she would know what she is doing! She had the girls sing "The Joy of Hanukkah". Never, ever, in all my life have I heard such STUPID lyrics! :headache: It was truly atrocious. And I DO blame the choir director for that because she could have chosen something else! The boys sang (I use that term loosely) "Yakity Yak" and "Pretty Woman". Which have always topped my list of holiday favorites. :rolleyes1

Kristine - The trolley driver must have gone to DS's middle school.
I am glad you saved Christopher from "death by door". That could have been ugly!

the kid is bound and determined lately to drive me completely crazy....my nerves are shot and we've only been at it 12 hours :sad2:

:rolleyes1

Well im headed to work tomorrow--i am not 100%, but I do not have a fever and my voice is better so im going in.
I rested all day today, finished wrapping gifts and i think im good to go to go to work tomororw.

This weekend looks to be busy- Friday night, my brother's girlfriend and I are going out to tour some Christmas lights! We always have some great displays out here, some that you even park and walk around so were going to have some hot chocolate, christmas songs, and check out some lights. Saturday, im going to my niece's 3rd birthdya party and am going to be saying goodbye to my best friend and niece--they l eave on the 27th and saturday will probably be the las ttime i see them for awhile. Then i think were going to my grandmas for the night--dallas has a huge footbal game saturday, but only on the NFL channel, which we dont get...grandma does so we may just go visit her for the night. HOPEFULLY sunady will be relaxing!

Tomorrow is 10 years since my favorite aunt passed away from breast cancer. I cant bleive its been that long but then again it seems like forever. She would be so proud of me to know that im a teacher now!

Have a great night all

I've read along but am too exhausted to reply, so a blanket of :hug:s and :wizard:.

I must have really ticked someone off. I went down into the unfinished portion of our basement tonight to clean the cat boxes. There was water all over the floor. Luckily Bob and Bethany were over for dinner, so I called him down. It seems that both of my sump pumps AND the back-up batteries are completely dead. They have overflowed. One is in the front right corner of the house and the other in the left rear corner. The carpet along 2 outside walls is soaked. We shopvac'd up the water and I called my neighbor and asked if I could borrow the small pump he has on top of his pool cover to pump off the rain water. He brought that over and he and Bob rigged it up to where it is pumping the water out of one sump into the bathroom sink. It is finally starting to go down. Tomorrow I'm going to have to call the company that waterproofed our basement and installed the pumps to come out and repair whatever is wrong. Then I'm going to call the insurance company to see what would be covered. Someone is definitely trying to see how much I can handle without breaking. Sorry for my personal pity party. I know it is minor compared to what others are going through. But I'd just like to catch a break for a little while!

I feel for you Tammi....water damage is the worst!!!
Yeah. What really has me wigged out right now is that I'm still trying to deal with this lice issue. Everything looks okay, but I still have to comb their hair out every night for 3 weeks, and that is very time consuming. Plus cleaning coats, backpacks, pillowcases, stuffies, combs, etc. It just would have been nice to have a reprieve before the next incident came along.

I'm glad you made it safely. Your girls are just too darn cute!
