Was this just on Disney.com?

We just got back from WDW ~ I had my cake at the GF on the 26th. It was absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I wanted!!!! I have to write a letter and let them know that it was perfect!!!!

It was an 8" yellow cake with white chocolate mousse filling.

I hope you don't mind me asking what that cake cost. It is beautiful and I plan to order a cake at GF for DD's 13 bday. She would love one similar to this! TIA

No problem ~ It was $62.00 not inc tax & gratuity

$32.00 for the cake and a $30 decorating fee that included the fondant, slipper and flowers. I thought it was a very reasonable price for the cake I got

That's an awesome price for a beautiful, unique cake. I hope I get this lucky when I order my DS's cake later this week. I'm not sure what decoration to ask for though. Flowers don't really work for an older, teen boy.

I believe it is $20 and they will tell you the price when you order. This should mean no surprises on cost at the meal. When ever I have ordered a cake they tell me what it will cost after getting all my information. It is then added on to the bill at the restaurant or I pay cash when picking it up.

Thankyou so much, it's ages away but i am a forward planner hahaha .. When we get to the restaurant do i just mention to the waitress to make sure it's all sorted?? Obviously i want it as a surprise

Also there are 21 of us going for dinner for Dd's b'day i was going to order a cake at Boardwalk Bakery to pick up and take with us to DTD where we are eating ... any idea how big a cake i would want for that many?? I know a crazy question but all just wonderings of a crazy planner :rotfl2:

Yes you can mention it when you check in and they should let the waitress know. I have not had much luck with it ever being a surprise. Either they forget and I have to remind them or the waitress mentions it while we are sitting down.

I am not sure what size cake you should order. When you call BWB to order they can tell you how many each cake serves. I am sure someone else here will also know and get you an answer. Make sure were ever you are taking it will let you bring in your own cake. Call the restaurant directly and ask what the policy is on bring in a cake. I would hate for you to get there and they tell you no.

No, but Linda, the GF cake lady, is a PAIN!!! You can have other things done, but you must be specific and a picture helps. She will offer NO SUGGESTIONS.

Such a shame that in the Year of Celebrations that they continue to have one of the most unhelpful people on the planet manning the cake orders at the GF. :sad2:

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Why, why, why, after reading numerous complaints about Linda, is she still taking cake orders?! What are exactly the "magic words" you need to use to order a custom cake from GF? I spoke with her and told her I knew exactly what I want...an "anniversary cake" with white fondant and the gold mickey head stamps on it, for my small wedding celebration, and she told me that that can only be ordered if you had a Fairytale wedding at Disney. I know from reading this thread that is not true. She told me I have to order from the podium (i.e. frozen cake). :sad2: I'm about ready to pull my hair out. I mentioned all the beautiful cakes I've seen on this thread from the GF, and asked how to get one made....I don't know what to do! There must be some magic "code" word to get her to take a special order, because SHE. WILL. NOT. OFFER. ANYTHING!!!

Butter wouldn't melt in my mouth as nice as I was to her....I didn't want to get on her bad side...but I know my frustration was showing by the time I hung up. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to get her to assist me?

Thankyou so so much for the advice .. We will be eating at T-Rex in DTD but will defo phone to make sure we can bring cake

So it is ok to get the Slipper desert after breakfast at 1900 isn't it? I know it'll be early but hey it's Disney i want it all special hahaha :rotfl:

I'm not sure if this information helps anyone but I've just finished a call to the cake hotline to order a cake for our upcoming trip.

MK cakes - 6 inch as often posted no personalisation
8 inch is ONLY available in choc/choc or vanilla/vanilla with confetti or flower decoration and name as required
10 inch cake in vanilla/choc/marble option with either vanilla or choc frosting (as previously posted at $45) plus custom picture at a further $35

I have ordered a 10 inch for CP.

Also asked about the princess/pirate treasure chest cakes as I was thinking of ordering one for my children for the end of the trip - the only MK venue they are available at is CP. This didn't work for me personally as I wanted one at CRT (have ordered DD a glass slipper again as it is her surprise and her brother is having his birthday celebration there and will get his cake at CP earlier in the week.)

We will be celebrating our DS & DD's birthdays at WDW this year. Where can I order a birthday cake??

I want to order the Chocolate Glass Slipper dessert for my daughter for her Sweet Sixteen breakfast at CRT - I saw a picture of one that had some strawberries on the side, so that's ok for breakfast :thumbsup2

Does anyone know what kind of chocolate they use; does it taste as good at it looks?

OK, so I had just about the same thing happen with her, except I didn't ask for the anniversary cake. I wanted the stamped Donalds with a D Duck white chocolate topper, and it took me a couple of phone calls. What eventually worked was stumping the cake hotline people. She offered me a silkscreen Donald. Uhm, no. I told that woman I had something specific in mind, and she transferred me to GF bakery.

From there, she tried the whole "only order at the podium" thing. I was super polite and told her that I understood that that was what is normally done, but I was hoping to get a "custom" cake for DH birthday. She asked what specifically I wanted, and I told her. She said no. She told me I could get an 8" with ganache. I told her what I was HOPING for was fondant with stamped Donalds and a white chocolate Donald topper. She said, "that's only for weddings". I asked her if it was possible to get the stamped Donalds NOT on the anniversary cake, but rather on a 10" custom cake, she said "no". She did offer me fondant, though, instead of ganache. I told her that I didn't need fondant if I couldn't have the stamped Donalds. She said, "I'll check and see if they'll do it for you, but I have to warn you that this cake will be well over $100". I told her that was fine, that I didn't care what it cost because I wanted something special for my husband. She put me on hold.

For NINE minutes.

Then she came back, probably after a bathroom break and filing her fingernails, and said "they'd" do it, but it would be $95. Went over the whole thing, then had the gall to ask if I wanted to spend that much. I said yes.

I realized about an hour later that she didn't ask what I wanted for an inscription, but I decided to wait 48 hours to call to see if it was actually in the system. It actually was, I was surprised. Anyhow, so we'll see if I get it Saturday night, but at least it was ordered proprely when I called to add the inscription.
