2009 DDP, DxDP and QS plans - Everything you always wanted to know

DisneyMom5

I looked at this situation about a week ago, here are my conclusions.

At any one restaurant during a meal (BR, LU or DIN) you can only get as many of each type of CS meal as is on your plan.

The system track the total CS meals that your whole group is entitles to (both child and adult) as 1 number.

Beyond that it is all on the “honor system”.

I was thinking that I was not going to get the CS plan because it would be to much trouble to keep track 100% accurately without a lot of work since there is great variability of where, when and if each member of my family eats at each meal.

In the end I concluded that it would be ”honorable” to do my best without extraordinary effort to keep the balance and since WDW provides no way for anyone to check the number of each type of CS meal that is left that my best reasonable effort would have to be OK, especially since WDW does not deem it important enough to track.

A well thought out answer. Thanks!
We'll do the best we can while we are there. : )

my 9 year old daughter does not enjoy the typical nuggets, burgers etc.. so I am looking for counter service restaurants where she could possibly order off the regular menu as opposed to the childrens menu. Trying to consider if it is worth it for us to purchase the dining plan or just pay OOP.

Okay, I just also read somewhere I can pay extra to upgrade my daughter's park ticket to an adult park ticket (it would cost me an extra $50) then purchase the adult dining plan for her. This option would eliminate some fussing but I'd have to work out the cost factor. Might be an option if free dining happens to be offered during my visit, but probably not otherwise.

Some of the counter services in World Showcase have different things on the kids menu. I know the Cantina in Mexico has a quesadilla meal. Check out allearsnet.com, they have all of the menus on there:

I read the first few posts and sporadically throughout, so sorry if this has been answered.
I'm getting the regular dining plan and I'm considering a Signature restaurant for one meal -
I'm assuming that appetizers are also not included at these restaurants, but what about restaurants like Citricos and Flying Fish that have different courses?

Okay I have a question about making a reservation for a restaruant that is 2 table service credits. When I call to make a reservation for lets say CRT do I have to give them my credit card info? I will be on the basic dining plan so I wasnt sure if they would need it or not because I plan to use my credits.

If you tell them you'll be using DDP credits, they will still need your CC info, but will not charge it -- the CC is used only as a guarantee against a no-show.

You can also elect to pay OOP at the time of the meal, even if you had originally said you were going to use DDP credits.

Thank you for the info!

If you're on the QSDP, and there are no suitable dessert options can you carryover that dessert credit to use at another CS place? Or are substitutions allowed? ex. water instead of dessert. Or a side dish instead?

The credits can't be carried over, but may desserts are portable. You can also substitute fruit (in almost all cases) or a water (in some cases).

The title says it all. I've read a few posts saying that they are basically interchangeable. Can anyone confirm either officially or by experience. (Can't remember from our last trip with the kids.)

We had that same discussion last August when we were there and the CM did ring up our meals for cs different..we had 2 adults and one child..so I don't know if that was correct, but it happened each time we ate at our resort:)

We just got back this past weekend and used the CS plan. I had 4 adults on it and 1 child. The day before we were going to be checking out, I asked the CM at The Contempo Cafe if she could tell me how many kids credits and adult credits that we had left on our card (since DH had gotten a couple of meals without me being there and he was confused about the plan). I knew we had 10 total credits left and when she scanned the card she said "you have 10 credits left". I told here I was aware of the total, I just needed to know how many adults and how many kids there were left on it. She said that on the CS plan, that the credits werent divided into adult and kids. The table service plan did divide them that way.:confused3

I'm still on the fence regarding the DDP. One question. At Le Cellier, if we order the cheese soup & an entree, will the soup have to be OOP?

On the regular DDP, all appetizers at Le Cellier are OOP because they are not included with the dining plan.

Le Cellier, though, is the only restaurant that will offer DDP users a three-course fixed price menu and the soup is available as an appetizer on this menu. If you order this way, you can get the soup included on the basic DDP. You do have to stick with the fixed menu, and there are no steaks on that menu - the only beef offering available on the fixed price at dinner is prime rib.

OK, another question. What's the latest I can add the DDP to my ressie. Is it by the balance due date (45 days out)? Or can I add it later?

I believe you can add it up to 72 hours in advance. I just added mine about 10-14 days out.

I am trying to decide if the Dining plan is good for our family of 9. I made all of our ADRs. We are going to HoopDee-Doo and paid OPP. If we got the dining plan we would have one extra table service meal. If I can't fit another table service meal in our plans, can a TS be used for a counter service meal?

If we want to get something from the Main Street Ice Cream Shop or maybe a Dole Whip, will that have to be OOP or is that a snack credit?

There is a thread that informs you of all the places at WDW that you can use your snack credits and what you can get at that specific place...and if i'm not mistaken, you can get a Dole Whip with a snack credit at Aloha Isle in MK. :) Here's the link:
