Early Booking Rates 2010

Do the prices change dramatically after the release dates of ABD tours? I noticed the prices online but are the prices different than they quote (ie. better if you book earlier)?

When the tours are announced for 2010, if it follows past years, all trips will have an early booking rate and then the regular rate...they do not guarantee that you will get the EBR for any particular trip, because there is only a certain number of packages available at the EBR for each trip. The EBR, in my opinion, is a substantial savings over the regular price, so if you know that you want a specific trip, it is best to book it as soon as possible.

Ah, thank you very much. The standard price is quite expensive but from all the posts I've read, the tours are so worth it. I can't think of any better way to tour than using someone like Disney, as they know how to do things right! :thumbsup2

I'd agree with your statements here!

And yes, the Early Booking rates can be a substatial discount, so it is *well* worth it to book as early as possible, if you know where/when you want to go. The only issue is that the $300/person deposit is unrefundable after 14 days. But if you know what you want, the EBD is well worth it.

Fabulous vacations, totally worth it! :thumbsup2

We definitely know we're going to Ireland, so I'm hoping we'll be able to get the EBR (we're also pretty flexible about when we go). My only question is whether, if the trip we're on gets cancelled, we'd get the EBR on a rescheduled trip.

I don't know if there's an official policy, but it seems to me that most people who reported back got any discounts they'd had (EBD, return discount) on the re-scheduled trip.

That's good to hear - since there are four of us going, the total difference in price is over $2000, so I'd be pretty upset if I had to pay a higher rate because the trip got cancelled. We're definitely going in the summer, so with luck, those trips will be booked (I'm assuming they'll have fewer dates planned than they did this year with less chance of cancellation).

..as I am also booking the "Emerald Isle" vacation, remaining flexible on travel dates (May or June 2010) and feel comfortable that ABD will be the same (via the EBR) if any vacations have to be rescheduled.

Our Germany tour was cancelled 8 weeks prior to the date, and we were offered either another date for Germany, or a free upgrade to the Viva Italia Tour, which was more expensive.

Good to know. Thanks for posting your experience.

So did you stick with Germany or did you switch to Italy?

2010 itineraries launch August 10

19 destinations for 2010. Gone are the following - Storybook Kingdoms, Flavors of France and Treasures of Spain

The remaining 19 destinations are the same as last year with less frills in the package.

More Gateway itineraries like the Gateway to London and Paris which was tested recently. Again these will have less frills.

No more Early Booking Rate.
What's your source for this? Can you share?

Thanks

I also hope this isn't true. We really wanted to do Flavors of France. Oh well, one way or another we will be in France next summer. Either with ABD or without ABD.

I seem to recall someone posted a link to the Disney Vacation Club newsletter/magazine prior to August 1st last year, with the list of 2009 desinations. Anyone have access to the online magazine that could check if there is any 2010 info?

OR it could have been the Disney Annual Passholder newsletter/magazine, I don't remember exactly where the info came from, but I do remember there was a link to a website.

Thanks!

We had it in the Mickey Monitor, which we don't get this year as we've let our AP lapse :sad1: But I'm sure someone will post - allears even had it up early last year.

That might have been me. The Mickey Monitor went online earlier than it was supposed to last year, and all the new itineraries were listed. They realized their mistake and had if off the website within a few hours.

All of the 2010 information is still supposed to be confidential -- and if DisneyGuy 2009 has a valid source, he was probably asked to keep that information to himself. Whoever told him could lose his/her job. It's nice to pass along information here, but not at someone else's expense. Maybe that's why he removed it right away? I'm one of those who asks permission rather than begs forgiveness. :)

I'm guessing that there will be a) no new itineraries this year, b) more Gateway trips, and c) less dates. Those guesses are pretty obvious, though.

I know the Gateway trip was appealing to some guests, not so much because it was less money and less frills, but because it gave them more free time in each city. I know there were things on that trip I would have missed, so I won't be looking for myself.

Every year, the pricing structure is tweaked a bit, so we'll just have to wait and see about the early booking discounts. (Personally, I'd love it if it was offered up to a certain date, not until the "slots" were filled.) For those who have booked in years past, you'll also remember that triples and quads were priced differently, so who knows what to expect this year.

I'll be sad if Storybook Kingdoms and Flavors of France are gone -- I've done both and loved them. I have a lot of people interested in Storybook Kingdoms for next year as well; I felt it was becoming much more popular but I work with a small percentage of AbD guests. What do I know?

Someone on another thread said he/she was already feeling the cutbacks. My experience on Bella Italia last month was just the opposite. I felt we were treated as good or better than on any of our other trips. Someday, I'll get that trip report written!

I'm not being very helpful here... just rambling...

Thanks Dotti, and your observations make sense. It would just be nice if someone who posts info like that will either back it up with a link, or just admit he is speculating, or let us know why he remove the post. IMO, creates controversy where there doesn't need to be any!
