Just booked today!

Feb. 19, 2011 Magic Western Caribbean (President's week)

C11C GTY 2A1C 12 $2918.07. [no air/trns/ins]

Final Payment Due for Alaska Cruises: suites 150 days; non-suites 120 days.

Does this mean that suites may be able to book Palo/shorex at 150 days if final payment is due then?

On the longer & special cruises the final payment date is always due earlier but the booking date is the same as it normally is. If you look at the reservation page it will tell you when the final payment is due and when your booking will open. As gold the CM confirmed that the system said payment was due at 120 days and I would be able to book at 105 days.

Booked Alaska today that I had on hold since Monday. Cant believe the deposit increased! Since mine was held I was able to hold for $300 each.

I wanted to add a cabin but would have to pay the increased deposit on the 2nd cabin since I didnt have 2 cabins booked before the increased deposit.

I got all 4 of us on the ship and its during summer break, so Im happy with the price. May add a verandah stateroom using points later.

This is for the 8/16/11 Alaska:

Price Breakdown
Adult 1 Cruise Fare: $999.00 Adult 2 Cruise Fare: $999.00 Child 3 Cruise Fare: $889.00 Child 4 Cruise Fare: $789.00 Government Taxes & Fees (Cruise): $382.52
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total: $4,058.52 CAT 11C GTY

Sidenote:
Have a TA friend at work and she gave me a Princess quote for July 2010 and the Inside cabin was $2K each, double occupancy. Glacier Bay was on the Princess itinerary.

Yes, I agree. There is also a lot more flexibility when you book your own since you are in control of what you are booking! I've had the best luck with travelocity. Is there another search engine that you find better?

Jodie

For a great airfare search engine check out http://www.bing.com. Unlike many of the sites it actually lets you define the flight times and other parameters you want. I think it stupid on may of the sites if you say you want an afternoon flight it still shows the early am with a fantastic price and of course your still on the ship. With Bing you use slide bars to define a multitude of things. It also gives you charts showing the best prices day by day and predictions if prices to your destination are holding steady, dropping or raising. Very interesting tools. It directs you to the best fares it finds on the other sites. :surfweb:

Wow, I wasn't aware that the 11C could hold 4. That's good to know.

:rotfl2:

Which cruise are you looking at?

Alaska, either 6/14 or 8/23. I want to check prices on 2 different scenarios:

  1. 2A2K 12&10 5C no trsf or ins
  2. 1A1K 5C and 1A1K 11B no trsf or ins

Based on the prices that I've seen so far, I'm expecting that option #2 will be too expensive for us. I'm also not thrilled with the $600 pp deposit, but I won't let it be a deal breaker.

My best guess of what I'll do on Monday will be to book option #1 for one of those 2 dates and then wait and see what NCL and Princess 2011 prices will be for their Glacier Bay itineraries RT from Seattle. By then, we'll have taken our first Disney cruise and will have a better sense of how important it is for us to cruise Alaska with Disney. If we can get much lower prices with either NCL or Princess and be able to cruise Glacier Bay, then I'd probably cancel Disney and book with NCL/Princess. Then we'll use the money that we saved and take the girls to Disneyland that summer to get our 2011 Disney fix. :wizard:

DCL allows a certain number of the old cat 12s/new C11Cs to be booked with 4 people. These rooms only sleep 3 people so anyone booking them will be automatically be upgraded to a C11B.

I've gotten someone to get me a quote on the 8/23 cruise putting myself and my DD in a 5C with DH and DS in an 11b, just so you know the children are charged as adults. THe prices are as follows:
Cat 5C 4109.26
Cat 11B 2249.26
So total is 6328.52

Also, based on other pricing listed on page 1 of this thread, I can extrapolate out to 2 ad 2k in a cat 5c, cost for that one is 6538.52 All of these pricing is for 8/23/11 cruise

Cool! Thanks!

I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed . . .

Regarding deposits, is it just the PC, Alaska, and Med cruises that will require the $600 deposit on Monday? What about a standard 7 night Caribbean? Does anyone know what the deposit will be on those?

This is what we have found out so far. No one has posted if there is an increased suite deposit for the other cruises yet and of course the 3/4/5 days haven't been released yet.

PC cruises $600pp
7 night cruises for MR & Caribbean $250pp
10 & 11 night cruises & Alaska $600pp non-suite, $800pp suite
TA cruises $500pp
3/4/5 night cruises $200pp

Does anyone have experience with booking the new Category S (2 BR) suite? We are looking to book two veranda cabins - one Cat 5 w/ 2A1K and one Cat 6 or 7 w/ 2A. I was trying to see if it might make more sense to just book 1 Cat S for all but can't find any prices for Cat S on page 1.

Can any of you more experienced DCL cruisers let me know if this would typically be a good idea?

Thanks for any help you may offer!

I have added this information to the first post.
