Wonderful World of Color Preview

I think it is a great show, although it is a rehash of the popular movies. What I think makes it better for me is that they have reserved standing only areas that you can get buy buying a picnic meal or a (rather overpriced but it's Disney so what are you going to do) sit down at Ariel's Grotto or the Wine Country restaurant. Because DL/DCA is so compact, the night shows are standing room only and really, you can't see a lit if you don't stake your claim impossibly early.

I hope to see it sometime this year, I am already thinking about a late November trip for the holiday decor and WoC.

Well Disney does love Synergy..... but I loved how they incorporated Fantasia 2000 and the old Disney stuff into it! It could have ended up a total Pixar production.....

There are only a few times I get overwhelmed / AKA tears.
One of them is when I see something I perceive a breathtakingly beautiful.
Think I'm gonna need a strong shoulder for this one.

See now? You are such an ol' softie!

Anaheim's Gay Days are October 1 - 3 !!! Let's all plan to meet there and see WoC then!

I watched the Ustream and the HD version (the one that Mike posted up above).

The HD is 1000 times better.

That being said, I wasn't impressed. It felt like it was a hodgepodge of clips edited together with no rhyme or reason, just to get more character franchises included. Even Fantasmic has a storyline...even if some call it weak.

I did like the music, lights and fountain display. I will probably see it when I am in DL next year, but if I need to find seating 3 hours prior to showtime, I won't be heartbroken to miss it.

I have some friends that attended last night's event as part of the press corps. Maybe it is something that translates terribly to video and is breath taking in person. We'll see.

I'm so anxious to see WOC in October. I'm hoping that any bugs are worked out especially the crowd control. I'm sure the next couple months are going to be hell, especially for the poor CM's who are working.

I've been following this since day one and the show has changed over the course of the last few years. It did start off having a small bit of a story, with this character called "blip" or something that would flutter around, tying each scene together. After some of the stuff I've read, they didn't want to have an actual storyline, like Fantasmic! follows. They wanted to showcase Disneymovies and showcase them in one of the most unbelieveable ways possible.

Reviews coming in are about 80% that are amazed and blown away, 20% that don't like it all. The 20% that don't like it, want there to be a story that's being told. They're saying NOT to go into seeing WOC expecting a story. But seeing it in person and seeing the scope and what they're able to do with water, fire and lasers, will literally take your breath away. The amount of gasping during the show is almost comical.

Most of the movies flow well into the next scene, with a couple exceptions. They were making changes to scenes and flows up until a couple weeks ago. They wanted to showcase newer Disney films more than old. Fantasmic takes care of that. Yet, they still pay omage to some of the old ones now.

The way they set this up, allows them to change things, update, add new movies or completely revamp the show with very little effort. It's all done in a control booth with programming. Next year, there will be holiday shows that will be incorporated during Halloween and Christmas for sure. Others are possible. The latest article with the designer, he stated that the show will constantly evolve.

Ok. That's all based upon countless articles, reviews and me scouring youtube. I'm dying to see it.

I got to watch the premier last night online and I will say that I was simply BLOWN away! We tried to watch it on my partner's computer, which has speakers, but only got a black box where the stream was supposed to be....we're going to watch a youtube video of it this afternoon.

I will start by saying that I was thrilled to see the interactive talking Mickey at the show. That is just an *amazing* thing to see on video....I'm hoping to see him in person!

It's my personal opinion that a great theme park show (regardless of which theme park chain it is) has to do three things:
1. Has to give you that "cold chill" effect (in a good way) that makes you want to have the biggest smile you've ever had.
2. Has to at least make you slightly tear up at least once during the show.
3. Has to leave you with a song that sticks in your head....much like Small World does.

I can think of a few Disney park shows I've seen that have done all three, including Fantasmic, and MSEP. [There are a few non-Disney park shows that do the same, including the "Glow in the Park" parade at Six Flags over Texas.] World of Color definately is in the same category and did all three to me last night. I think my emotions swapped from tearing up to that cold chill created smile.

I couldn't tell you when I will be able to go over to DLR to go see this show in person, but I do plan to eventually get out there to see it!
