I normally don't have a passcode on either of my devices. but since I will be leaving my comfort zone, I decided to put them on. I was afraid that I would "loose" them somewhere and there are things on there I really don't want strangers to have access to.

I am wondering tho, if an honest person found my things and wanted to return them how would they know who they belonged to?

I was thinking about making some sort of a sign with contact info on it and taking a picture of it and using it as my start screen.... Good idea or bad?:confused3

(Passcode enabling is under Settings: General)

Also am really liking the free Instapaper app. Can save contents of up to 10 online things to read later. Using it for tourist type things I want to refer to later.

What else am I missing? Mind is really like a steel sieve lately :rotfl:

Kathy, I am lucky to have mobile me and the option to lock my phone remotely and I can send it a message or go online and "find" my iPad or iPod.

I love the instapper app so mch that I bought the paid version and I have saved all kinds of post from this thread to later.

If anyone has changes for the sharable calendar please PM me and I will get those on there.

I haven't done my online check in yet or started packing...do you guys think it's too early? I don't want to appear too anxious ! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Paul

We are packed! I sort of can't believe it. Our bags are only tipping the scales at around 40 pounds, too, and we have a 50 pound limit, so plenty of room. I just need to throw in a pair of capris and sweatshirt and day-of makeup and brushes.

I even got my hair cut and eyebrows done today. I was working from home and finished up my writing early, so I was able to get out. Stopped by the Dollar Store for twist ties, did a ton of laundry, and printed out my DCL docs and advance passenger info. Also looked up how to get from Penn Station NY to JFK (airtrain).

Safe travels to all of you on your way!!

You are my hero!! I wish I could not take so much stuff but I guess over packing is in my "genes".

Have you done this before? My hairdresser keeps trying to get me to do it, but I am unsure. My hair has natural curl that the sea air makes unruly. I try to blowdry it straight, but usually by the the third day of a cruise I give in.

Avon has a new product called Lotus Shield Frizz Control. It works very well in humidity. Not bad price either since you use so little of it.

My problem with products is after I go swimming, my hair is a total wreck when it dries. Then I have to spent at least an hour, drying and flat ironing it bak to some semblance of flat hair. Since I did the treatment that shall remain nameless, I don't have the same problem.

Yes, it's true. This needs to be used whenever you swim, wash hair, etc. With my hair, I don't mind it so much. My problem is that I will blow dry and flat iron my hair and then it will turn curly just by going out into the humidity. With the lotus shield I don't have that problem. (And it fits better with my budget. lol)

Paula. I promise not to slam any doors. I hope no servers drop their large trays of dishes in the dining rooms, and we will ask DCL NOT to sound the horn!!!;):rotfl2:

I think the horn will be ok - its loud banging sounds that are keeping us on our toes.

There was an article on the news today about the "roar" of the earthquakes which explains why some of them are so noisy. Its the noise I remember from last Saturday - waking up and having it sound like a freight train was coming through the house. Pure terror

Waves rushing through the ground are the cause of the stomach-tightening rumble that sets nerves jangling just before an earthquake hits.

The distinctive roar – half-vibration, half-sound – before each aftershock is making quake-weary Cantabrians jumpy.

GNS Science seismologist Warwick Smith said the sound could be loud or indistinct.

"Some of the noise in an earthquake is the noise of the buildings moving, but there is a low rumbling noise you often hear which is the vibration of the earthquake itself," he said.

"It's just at a high enough frequency that you can hear it. The sound waves travel through the Earth."

Immediately after a fault broke, P-waves (primary waves) and S-waves (secondary waves) radiated out from the rupture, he said.

"What is happening is generally you are hearing the P-wave and then feeling the secondary wave. Just like in a thunderstorm, with the thunder and lightning, the time between the P and S waves is a measure of how far away it is."

In an earthquake like last Saturday's, the second set of waves could strike quickly, Smith said.

"When it's that big, that P-wave is going to knock you around as well. It's faster than the speed of sound in air," he said.

"The P-waves travel at somewhere around five kilometres a second and the S-waves about 3km a second, so if you are a few kilometres away you will get the sound."

Terapin - I always tell people that if they turn on the TV and they don't hear bad news, I made it okay. I know it isn't the most convenient thing to do, but until you catch up with the time change! I do like the tracking on the computer.

We have a policy for the family that no news is good news and that we will not be traveling home for any reason whatsoever including someone dying. If they don't hear from us, they should assume that we are having a fabulous trip - if they do hear from us, its because we have a major issue they need to know about or have managed to find somewhere to gloat online :lmao:

I just noticed my DH is in wikipedia. Does that make his famous or infamous?
John Birkner

Will he be signing autographs and allowing pictures ;)

me toooo, I get soooo bored sitting in the hairdressers, 2 and half hours!!!!!
my hairs cool but not 2 and half hours cool.....

I detest hairdressers that take so long to do your hair - my time is too valuable. I either get Mum to do it or find the cheapest place possible what are wanting as many bums on seats as they can.

Today I got to browse/read about 5 Hello type mags. Jordan is pregnant, Jordan isn't pregnant. Jordan and hubby are about to split, Jordan and hubby are fine. So and so got married, so and so is pregnant. So and so looks too fat, so and so looks too thin. So and so looks great in this dress. So and so is showing her bulges in that dress. Oh and all the female stars have bunions and terrible feet! I know that for a fact as I saw the photos!

I like how you can read these magazines in about 1/4 of the time if you read them in 6 months time ... no they didn't, no she wasn't etc etc ;)

I try not to slam doors because I don't like that either. I will make sure I am quiet. Paula are you going to be okay if the ship is rocking a little bit - that will be awkward!

The rocking will be fine - its the noises that are getting us. Its been fairly consistently mentioned by people I know that noises are making them jumpy ... that and the fact that we are all tucking into "comfort food".

Congratulations on the pirate!

I just had a really weird thought .... just think .... exactly one week from now a lot of us will have met in person at the Hard Rock Cafe meet. I wonder what we will all think of each other when we finally meet after chatting on line for almost 2 years in some cases. Do you know ..... I am soooooooo excited and can't wait to meet everyone :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I can hardly wait either - I'm starting to get pretty excited now!

I haven't done my online check in yet or started packing...do you guys think it's too early? I don't want to appear too anxious !

I think you have failed our group requirements, should have completed both at least 6 months ago :rotfl2:

We are well through our "to do" list for today and have our sitting coming in a couple of hours to go through the final checklist and familiarity.

This time in 2 days, Robert will have taken off about 3 hours ago and I will have just taken off out of Christchurch to Sydney.

I will join your new girl at school group. Some day I will talk my hubby into meeting the group before the cruise. But I have 2 weeks to not be the new girl  well come to think about it after 2 years guess I am not so new:lmao::lmao:

What I am interested in is finally seeing the people listed on the web site that I have never seen post. So they are really the new kids:lmao::lmao::lmao:

We will miss the Hard Rock meeting too. Can I join the new girl at school group too? :flower3: :lmao:

Thanks for all of your good thoughts and prayers :littleangel: for my friend Eric and his family. The surgery was delayed a day as the new hospital where he was transferred wanted to run additional tests. Tests showed an 80% blockage. Surgery was this morning and Eric is in recovery!!! After a double by-pass, the doctors are saying his heart is back at 100% pumping. No new meds will be needed. He is not out of the woods yet but things are definitely looking good.

I really appreciate all of the good vibes coming his way. They really worked and we are looking forward to alot more fun times for their family!!!!!

You guys are the best! :thumbsup2

.

This is really good news! Thank you for keeping us informed.:thumbsup2

Dennis went for his eye checkup and to the dentist to get the 4 temp crowns off and permanent ones put on today. He is good as new!! :thumbsup2 We still have to use eyedrops 3x a day for a couple of weeks, but are happy it is all over and well!! :cool1: We had to go buy sunglasses for him since his are prescription and HE DOES NOT WEAR GLASSES ANYMORE!! :dance3: Now to pack tomorrow and we will be on our way to Spokane, WA Sunday morning. Driving west to get east.

LOL - they were packed!!! Gee, should have checked the pockets, huh?

Moving on!!

Yeah glad you found them. Me I am still working on mine. This is my first time making magnets. Then I need to finish my fish extender.

I started to gather up stuff and :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

So many clothes so little room to choose from :eek:

I haven't done my online check in yet or started packing...do you guys think it's too early? I don't want to appear too anxious ! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Paul

nah I would pack up the day before.:thumbsup2 To make it more interesting give your self only an hour and what you pack is what you get to wear.

Might make the Barcelona non clothing person look lame :lmao::lmao::lmao:

That's a relief. I have a couple of crowns and after awhile you forget which ones are the real teeth and which ones are the crowns. Very cool about the glasses. I'll bet Dennis is amazed at how much he can see now.

You've brought back memories of our Big One. Our houses almost touch each other here. During the EQ the noise, not the shaking was the most scary. The houses hitting each other as they swayed, the glass breaking in the houses and the telephone poles creaking as they bent all made so much noise. val
