Trista & Jeff- 10/30/11 - WP/Attic/UK DP - .: On the way to our planning Session!:.

OMG... HOW CUTE!

That is sure a fantastic story... I felt like I was there! Loved it... you are both such cuties! :) Very exciting time for you both! Was he nervous...

I love asking my DF what he was feeling when he proposed to me!? hehe Greg and I got engaged in Central Park NY, I was video recording everything like a tourist... all along on the video is Greg marching about 8 foot infront of me... (Apperently he was really nervous and trying to think of a good place to do it) hehe I love listening to peoples proposal story! So romantic! :cloud9:

congrats and welcome!

as you can see in my PJ, we share some smilar sensibilities!

love your ideas and i looked at many similar dresses! i did like that the "wonderland" theme lends itself to different colors and you can definitely avoid looking skittle like!

and yes, wonderland themed weddings swelled over the last year - there was not much when i started planning and by the summer it was like "the" thing, but it had personal significance for us as well!

happy planning!

I love everything!!! I was fighting back tears when I read the "Mickey waved at me" part, and the Bellagio fountain...I think that is so magical and romantic...even if there are winds! :lovestruc Congrats on everything, I really cant wait to read more!! :)

What a sweet proposal! And now I'm looking forward to finding out what happened in the car on the way to California ;)

Ah such a lovely proposal story. I love that he had it all planned and you had no clue. Sound similar to mine!

Those sneaky men of ours! :lovestruc Hopefully they will still be able to surprise us for years to come.

For the first year ever, mine was able to (lovingly) get me on April Fools. He taped a troll face to the bottom of my mouse. The kicker was, I was already having mouse issues and have to unplug and replug it back in to get it to work sometimes. Knowing this, he decided this would be hilarious! I did my usual trick (unplugging it). I rebooted my computer. I thought it had finally died! Nope, turned that sucker over only to see this guy
trollface.jpeg

grinning up at me with the caption "Trololol! April Fools! Love you!"

I was going to hurt him... :rotfl:

Brer - Does he still surprise you from time to time?

Fay - He actually was not nervous! If he was, he didn't show it.

Central park? How romantic! *swoons* If that was me recording, you would have heard me yelling at him to "get his bum back here and hold my hand" Haha! The fact you caught the proposal on video is going to be a cherished memory for you both! I'm actually quite jealous, you are one lucky girl!

!

Thank you, Sambycat! - I blame the movie for the swelling of the theme, but you can't shake a girl that has been planning this since 1994~ Gosh darn it, I'm going to have what I want. To heck with the trend!

I'm with you - stick to your guns, and personal significance is what matters! I am so glad to meet you, and hope you can offer advice on how to avoid the skittle. I don't want my guests to "taste the raindbow" :lmao:

Thank you so much SarahK, and thanks for reading! I'm so nervous writing a PJ!
P.S. This is me typing with sweaty palms, don't tell anyone. okay?

What a sweet proposal! And now I'm looking forward to finding out what happened in the car on the way to California ;)

Oh my goodness, I'm actually worried about typing it. Hopefully the other parties involved don't find their way into my PJ and get upset!

I shall have to change the names to protect the innocent!

Not the car update, but I had a slight bride panic moment!

The honeymoon dress:
honeymoonqz.jpg

Ta! Da!

I'm shooting for a Marilyn Monroe type feel - but of course my wedding colors have to be in there somewhere, right?

My petticoat won't be white. I'm having it custom made, and it will be layered to include all six of my bridesmaid colors. I am going for the peek-a-boo effect, and think it's going to be lots and lots of fun for photographs.

I also found the most adorable Minnie inspired fascinator to go with it! I contacted the seller, asked her if she was able to change the flowers on the hat from black to white, and also add a small bit of fish net veil to make it more brideish.

She said yes! If i bought it, she would do whatever I wanted to it.

Awesome! I went to buy it right away. Only to find...

SOLD

Um... err....

ME: "Excuse me, Mrs. Crafty hat person... did you by chance mark it as sold and are contact me on how to pay for it?"

Mrs. Crafty hat person: "Oh no! I saw that wasn't you!"

dun...dun...DUNNNN.... -end ominous music

ME: *runs around the house muttering a few choice words and cursing the person that stole my hat!*

ME: *trying not to seethe* "Do you take custom orders?" *beg, plead,omgyouhavetohelpmeplzBRIDEZILLA!!!!!111!*

I spent all of last night trying to find something I liked equally as much, if not more. I failed. I kept going back to that one hat! I truly was crushed! Crushed I say!!!

I just heard word from the seller today - She's going to make me a custom one! And i get to pick the colors!!! Turns out she felt just as bad as I did about my hat selling!

YAY!!!!

My question is... do many of these bride little panics happen? I'm really not used to them and it is so not me! My DF told me "it's just getting started, sweetheart." Does that mean there will be more? Haha!

I had a similar Bridezilla moment when I realised I had missed the reservation day for our wedding Wishes fireworks cruise. I thought there was no way I would get one now and we didn't have enough money to pay for it outright as it was just before payday and I'd just paid out a stack of money on other wedding stuff. So I was really stropping around the house thinking th wedding plans were ruined when Chris persuaded me to just call Disney and see if they just take a deposit to book it. So I did call....then I found out they don't take payment until the day and our date was free :woohoo:. Lots of tears and apologies from me to Chris for my Bridezilla meltdown!

In answer to your previous question, he does still surprise me. I laughed out loud when I read your April fool as that's just what he would do to me

That dress is so beautiful - and I'm glad you're getting your hat, too! I find that I have the bridezilla moments over the most random things. I got super stressed out when I found out that our reception hall is used for jazzercise Saturday mornings, so I wouldn't be able to go in and decorate it myself. They offered to do everything for me, but I really wanted to do it myself. I'm still stressing about it actually, just trying not to think about it!

On the other hand, one of my bridesmaids hasn't ordered her dress and the deadline is fast approaching. My MOH has been freaking out about it, but I've just been, "whatever, I'm sure she'll get it eventually!"

Just joining in!!! I have really enjoyed reading your PJ so far! Can't wait to read more!!! I love the Converse idea, btw! :lovestruc Happy planning!!!

That dress is awesome, definately Marilyn Monroe :lovestruc

I'm glad she's making you a custom hat, you must be relieved.

Bride panics happen often in my experience, though I keep mine to myself or to these boards because otherwise people think I'm crazier then I already am.:rotfl:

Bridesmaids dresses - Arg! I have an update I need to post that is all about those darn things! I'm also trying to delegate who gets to be the ones to set up my extras in the WP and the Attic - I want to do it myself but I KNOW that isn't going to happen. I guess I need to work on letting people help me and hope for the best. (I do this all the time at work, if I do it I know it's done right. If I let someone help me they might mess it up and I have to do it all over again!) I'll really need to work on that before the wedding - trusting people to make my day perfect for me. I think my planning session might ease that a little bit when I meet my planner. Hopefully.

Just joining in!!! I have really enjoyed reading your PJ so far! Can't wait to read more!!! I love the Converse idea, btw! :lovestruc Happy planning!!!
Welcome! Thanks for joining! You'll have to help me know if the girls start to look like skittles when I post the dress pics!

I am! And since I've been speaking with she seems really excited to take on the project! I promise to post the shop and pics of the hat when she's finished. She's supposed to start on it this week!

And Princess_Ariel_85 - I think we're all crazy here; you are safe with us. Especially in my thread! :rotfl::rotfl:

.: The not-so-great Car Story! :.

Sorry for the delay! It's been a little crazy with wedding plans, and I have tons of updates that will start to trickle in as I can steal some time to post them! I also apologize for the grammar and punctuation, I was trying to get this out in time before work. I'm currently puppysitting my sisters pup, and he is trying to eat everything! I can't leave him alone for a moment (puppy pics soon, to prove it!)

So...
The car...

My DF and I left Vegas for California on October 22nd, two days after our engagement. We still has not told our family/friends about the big news as we didn't want them to panic and think we were going to run off to Ye Olde Elvis Chapel and tie the knot.

In our ever-so-wise logic we thought it would be best to tell them from the safe haven of Disneyland!

While driving we talked about who we would call first... who would be the one to break the knews... basically laid out the entire master plan on how we would spring the news to our friends and family. It was going to be perfect. PERFECT!

They would be so happy for us! They had been waiting for this news forever! They would not have to hound us anymore every time we visited them with questions of "Why are you not married, when are you getting married... blah, blah, blah"

My favorite one was from my DF's Mom last August - her question was "Why have you not married my son yet?"
My reply - "Because he has not asked me?" - That got the heat off me and back onto my poor DF for a while.

Anyway... I'm way off track here. Lets get back to the story!
Car. California. Announcing.

It's a bit of a boring drive to Cali from Vegas, so I whipped out my phone and decided to tinker around on facebook for a while. My eyes zeroed in on one word that was filling my latest news stream...
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

"Um... Babe? Did you happen to tell anyone you were popping the question?"
"Only your Mother, why?"
"My Mum would not spill the beans, and I think we are... oh, wait. It looks like... HOLY COW! YOUR BROTHER JUST PROPOSED TO HIS GIRLFRIEND!!!"

My DF's face just dropped. You could tell the wind was let out of his sails.
"He did what?"

Yep. Out of the blue his brother has proposed to his girlfriend, on the day we were going to tell his family about our engagement that they had been waiting for years to happen.

*big sigh*

We don't want to steal their thunder, but it's killing us not shouting it from the rooftops! What in the heck were we supposed to do? I did the only thing I could think of at the time. I had a wee cry and called my Mum!

She told me not to be sad, that our happy news was not going to not be happy news if we waited a little while to fill everyone in. She had a point. Sometimes Mothers really do know everything.

After getting off the phone, we decided we would wait a week or so and let his brother have their special moment. We would be a little if they would have announced right after we did, and didn't want to ever do that to them.

Instead we decided to focus on planning! October, 2011 would be our wedding month! We had one year to make this happen, and in the car my DF agreed on a Disney Destination Wedding. Vacation/Family Reunion/Wedding all in one.

It would be perfect.

We also decided to call my family, tell them to plan a trip for next October for our wedding. It went very well. We asked them all to keep it quiet as we had not told DF's family yet. As soon as we did, we would announce it to everyone.

On our third day in California it was killing my DF that his family didn't know. It really was hurting him that he had to bottle up the news. He didn't want to hurt his brother, but he just had to tell ONE person. He called his sister for advice.

His sister suggested we tell the family when we got home. That it would be double the good news, and that nobody would get their feelings hurt. (I love his sister!)

Taking her advice we called his family about a week after the engagement and told them to plan for an October wedding! We brought up Florida and a Disney wedding.

It was getting into the busy time of year for us both at work, and we told them all we would probably get into the full swing of wedding planning sometime around Valentines day.

Little did we know what on earth we would be getting in to with two people planning their weddings in the same year....

*** That should be it for the "story" portion of the updates of my log (famous last words) - From here on out there should be tons of photos, tons of ideas and tons of planning! I welcome all of the wisdom/comments/suggestions/feedback so please feel free to let me know! I bow :worship: to the Disney Guru's that you all are!***

Next up! - Searching for the dress!!!!

Aisle Runner!

I've been ordering up a storm recently, trying to get everything in place so I don't have to worry about a thing.

Based off feedback on the board, we have ordered a 75' fabric aisle runner in ivory from http://www.exclusiveelementsinc.com/ - We will trim off the extra 5 feet when it arrives so it will fit the wedding pavilion

They have been fantastic to work with for our custom order, and even suggested a small enhancement that would go with our theme.

It will say:

And they lived
happily ever after

She suggested a dark pewter for our lettering, and we opted for a glitter goal to be put on the words Happily and our names.

I can't wait to see it when it's finished, and I will be sure to post pics!

I can't believe your brother-in-law proposed to his girlfriend on the same day that you were planning on announcing your engagement. Thats so crazy! It was so lovely of you and DF to hold off announcing your engagement, I'm impressed! I don't think I could have kept my mouth shut :rotfl: Just think you'll have another couple to share the stresses of wedding planning with. I think it's all kinda exciting. :goodvibes

Just had a flick through their site and the aisle runners they have on their site look great. I cant wait to see pics of it. x

Aw, that is pretty disappointing that you couldn't share your news right away. I don't know how I would have been able to keep it in! What unfortunate timing. It must have been pretty spur of the moment of him for no one to know that it was coming. Wow... but I'm glad it all worked out in the end!

Just Joining! I want to say congrats! and the story about your DF is so cute, I'm so glad he found the magic of Disney. I actually just dragged my boyfriend to Disneyland last October since he hadn't been since he was twelve, He's twenty-six now. I love your brides maids shoes and the theme your going with. I'm a huge alice fan as well. I also blame the Tim Burton movie for the massive rise in Alice stuff, oh well like you said forget the trend, if it means something to you thats all that matters. Can't wait to read more from you!

It was so hard to keep quiet! So hard - probably harder than he'll ever know. I still don't think he fully understands that we waited and didn't decided to get engaged just because they got engaged. I get that feeling sometimes!

Now that she's waiting for final confirmation on the aisle runner - I'm getting cold feet!
Here is what it looks like now...
tristajeffreysample.jpg

I blame the Gemini in me - so indecisive! Luckily DF jumped to the rescue and said "Something is missing..." He pointed out we have to rearrange the wording.

he wants "And they lived happily ever after..." to be the bottom line and all on the same line. That way the happily can pop out and not look off center.

My hero! princess:

I sent away for the updated graphic, I'll post it here as soon as she sends it back for preview.

So am I! Currently are weddings are a little over a month apart - she's doing a my big fat Greek wedding meets gone with the wind. I can't wait to see what happens!
If anyone's interested, I'll be sure to take lots of pics in September when I go to her wedding. I personally can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Welcome! Thank you for reading! The good news is that with all of the other brides who are doing this theme, some pretty good ideas have popped up. I hope I can share some of my views for others to enjoy - I don't think I am going to be borrowing too much from others in the way of decorations. I hope to bring my own unique view to the Mad tea party. Some of the ideas are just brilliant though. I may have to give a nod or two :)

Dun-da-Dun-tah!

If you were reading this there Here you will see that my DF has requested a Mickey fedora/Indiana Jones hat in place of a Mickey top hat.

He has a big thing for Indiana Jones, and it's his favorite ride at Disneyland. In fact, I think his music to enter the WP may be the Indy theme! He's currently trying to convince me it should be our recessional.

Not happening. <3

I started with this hat that I bought from Amazon - DF loves it Apparently it fits perfectly and is comfy.

I went to the disney store and purchased a regular mickey ear cap that arrived today in my box of goodies. In the Disney store box were two bridal shirts that I wrote about HERE. I'm glad I bought them, just glad I had read the boards and knew to get them in a larger size than I usually wear. Thank you, Ladies!

Armed with my scissors (and way too excited that the hat finally arrived!) I dove into the cap and proceeded to hack it to bits! Like so...

Snip.Cut.Hack!

The ears look so forlorn when they are all by themselves!

Poor ears :(

I then decided to see if I could leave the ears on the "headband" I created just to see where they fit on the hat.

Nope. That won't do!

I slid the left ear down farther to see just where I would want to place it - I decided at this point I would not snip the ears apart and would just eyeball where I thought the ears might go. I thought if I took a few photos I could stare at them for a while before I cut into the actual fedora.

Here isn't as bad. There is enough fabric that I probably could make it work.

In this shot I am testing the right ear placement.

Right about now is when the DF came home. He shrieked, snatched his beloved fedora and put it on his head.

Right after that I left my crafting table and ordered a 2nd hat from Amazon.
:rotfl:

Looks like the rest of this update will be put off until the next hat arrives.

My future husband, Mr. Indiana Jones, apparently needs his hat to play MLB11.

Who knew?
