Here are some additional thoughts I have on the whole experience. This was my first half marathon ever, so I have nothing else to compare to.
Overall, I think Disney did a great job with this event.
We stayed at the Beach Club and never had trouble with getting a bus. There was always someone at the bus stop letting us know when the next bus was coming and where we needed to wait.
A couple of minor things.
1. There were parts of the course that seemed way to narrow. I was literally bumping into other people trying to pass because of this. This was mainly between HS and the Boardwalk.
2. At the after party, it was a mess at the crosswalk they had set up to allow people to get between FW and WS. It only opened every 4 minutes, and then only so many people could get across at once. This led to a big bottleneck at that area and lots of confusion.
3. I know there is nothing Disney can do about this. We were in corral C and right at the front. Within half a mile of starting, we were already passing a good amount of corral B people who were walking. Maybe this is normal, but if you are in corral B, I would not think you should be walking half a mile into the race. That tells me that you probably should not have been there. People also should have remembered to move to the right if they needed to slow down and walk.
Other than this, the after party was a great time. We had done F&W the day before so we did not need to worry about sampling a lot of things. We walked around, had a few drinks and just enjoyed the atmosphere. We left close to 4, and there were still a lot of people in WS, so I am not sure how much longer it took to clear them all out.
I agree. I felt so bad as I'd run right up someone's butt who was walking and have to stop short. No biggie, except if I had another runner behind me, it actually became pretty comical. My suggestion would be the organizers stress if you're going to run, stay on the far right and no more than 2-3 wide, especially through the narrower areas like through AK and along the sidewalk from DHS to Boardwalk.
