Trip Report-Disney Dream, BLT, Animation resort and SSR.

Is it really bigger? Good to know for next time we loved the theming and ferry ride!
Yes!

look at the size of that OKW kitchen!! The laundry was HUGE, the main bedroom seemed almost as large as the living area!

Can I ask you a question however (and apologies if you have already answered this already somewhere in your TR). How did you find the move from one Villa to another? Did Disney move your bags for you for free?[/QUOTE]

Sure: You call bell services on the morning you are checking out from one resort to the next...they come collect your bags and then once you have checked into the new resort you call bell services and they deliver them to your room. Its free but we did tip each way. They label your bags and give you a docket so you have a record of them..We did this three times and never was a problem:thumbsup2

I have to take back my comments about no major themeing at OKW around the pool - they have added a big sandcastle waterslide and giant buckets since I was there.

About the only thing that annoyed me about the OKW unit was the TV is built in at the front of the kitchen island, it's quite low, so if you have anything on the coffee table it blocks the view of the TV - that is about the biggest complaint I can think of :)

OKW is not as glitzy as some of the other DVC resorts and it's definitely not as overtly Disney themed, but it more than makes up with it with space, light and a nice homey feel to it. It does have a golf course that runs through it, so that also adds to the very airy feel, the clumps of buildings are all quite a way apart, I think it means you can virtually say that most units you can walk out onto the balcony and you are looking at green rather than another building being close, of course looking to the side you may see other buildings and balconies in the same block as you, but they aren't on top of you. It feels very private.
A lot of the Marriott time shares in Orlando also have golf courses through them so they have the same spacious feel.

And that room looks massive compared to the living room photos I've seen at BLT and BCV!!
Off the top of my head, OKW 1 bedroom are 942sft, BCV, the 2 bedrooms are 1083 sqft, 1 bedroom 726 sqft, SSR 714 sqft.
I can't easily find any BLT sqft :)

BLT was pretty big. Bigger than SSR...we just enjoyed the quietness of SSR but OKW sounds very similar but with more room!

339 sqft studio
803 sqft 1 bedder
1152 sqft 2 bed
2044 grand villa.....

we have stayed in both a 1 bedder (awesome) and the studio (squishy to say the least) aulani studios are bigger ......and we had 12 nights in a studio which made it even more tiny I think..just the 2 of us.

Hi Kyl,

Another question if you don't mind. How many paper plates did they provide you with and did you find you needed to order more from the supermarket?

Thanks again for your TR. If it weren't for you and your mention of DVC Brokers, I probably never would have known there was a way of getting deluxe resorts within my budget. Can't wait for my BWV and AKV split stay.

No paper plates only at the Animation of Art resort which is a disney value. The DVC villas all have normal kitchen wear...plates, folks, spoons etc. As you have a dishwasher you just wash them. Everything you need to cook is there. It really is a full kitchen:thumbsup2
I mean if you really wanted to you could make a roast dinner;)

I wonder if the studios are different because they don't have a dishwasher? I'm sure I read somewhere that they have paper plates and plastic cutlery. Will have to do a bit more research.
Will definitely do the grocery order thing. What time did you opt for the groceries to arrive?

Yes that makes sense as AoA didn't have a dishwasher they had plates. I would even order some when you do your grocerys if thats the case. You don't want to be running around worrying about plates on disney time:rotfl:. We got our grocery items delivered in the late afternoon of check in. Don't forget to do a couple of orders as we went from resort to resort. I ended up having to order more which was a pain. Wish I had done before we left as I only placed the one order. Saying that we are a family of five and my kids eat like horses:lmao:

Yes! 5 nights at BWV in a Boardwalk view studio through DVC Rental Store and 6 nights at AKV Jambo house in a standard view studio through Davids.

All up the price was about 60% cheaper than paying Disney's Rack Rates. In a way it'll be like paying rack rate for the villas and getting dining AND park tickets for free.

:thumbsup2
