Post Your Wedding Cake

I know that not everyone likes Beach Cakes, but when I saw a photo of a similar cake on pinterest it was perfect for our wedding/reception at the Living Seas. When we went on our planning session our planner told us that they don't do these cakes any more because there were several bad ones made. She said she would check with the bakery to see if they would make it and they said okay. So here it is!!

Here's our cake from our August 2012 wedding in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. We left the following evening for our Disneymoon!

OOH! I can finally play! Of course, I really didn't like our cake. The bakers totally ignored my sketch but still, it's my cake.

I LOVE the Portal reference on your cake! So cute.

keep the pictures coming. It took awhile to get through them all but I have to admit I love looking at wedding cakes.

Our 25th Anniversary Vow Renewal Cake. It's a few years old, but reading these boards again made me want to post it.....again. Not only did we think it was beautiful, but it was DELICIOUS! It was made by the pastry chef at Yachtsman Steakhouse, where we had a wonderful dinner shared with our kids! A great great memory....hummm, what should we do for our 30th????;);)

Here is a picture of our cake for our 12/8/12 Disney wedding. The cake stand was actually made by my parents. It had tons of crystals and lights. The key hanging in the pictures is the key to Cinderella's castle. Our cake flavors were: top tier & bottom tier were marble cake with milk chocolate filling, and middle tier was red velvet with cream cheese filling. It was so yummy!!!!

We created our design and gave it to Disney for their bakery team to re-create. They did a fantastic job!

I LOVE this!! What a cute idea!

We haven't fully decided on a cake yet but are seriously leaning toward the following styles:

and

I LOVE the bottom one. It is clean with some sparkle. It is a classic, beautiful wedding cake.

I was thinking of having my cake at a DP. I have seen some people do this but does anyone know if this is an extra fee or can be done by the staff? Also, this is a little off topic, but if I add a lunch reception, would it count towards the minimum expenditure and what's the approximate cost for a simple buffet or plating? (aka salad, breads, appetizer, basic entrees like chicken/shrimp, etc.) I know that's a little vague but I've seen the wedding catering menu on the disneycateredmenus website and was wondering if the prices were the same or similar at all going through DFTW.

went to the disney wedding expo this past weekend and took tons of pictures of cakes and a table full of the mimi cakes. will post them when I get things together.

You'd have to find out from your planner if this is an option, since there are rules surrounding the display of cakes at outdoor locations (in the parks). There's always a delivery fee for locations not at the Grand Floridian, but it seems like if it's going straight to the DP and not making a stop at the reception, there'd only be one fee.

It really depends on what you have on the menu. Sandwiches could be $50/person... steak, seafood and fancy action stations could push you to $150/person. Any food and beverage you have on the day of your wedding counts toward the overall minimum expenditure ($100/$125/$150). But only food served at that location counts toward the venue-specific food and beverage minimum.

Disney's Catered Events and Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings use different menus, but there is some crossover and, since you can customize anything, something you like on one can be used for the other.

Thanks for posting these! I still haven't gotten all my shots into Photobucket yet—saved me the trouble! :goodvibes
