What is the best time of year to reserve a week at aulani? I will be reserving at the 7 month period. Thanks.

I'm going Feb 10 and so I booked in July. Had no problems at all. I guess it probably depends what time of year you are looking at and what type of room. I will be in a 1 bdr, ocean view. Oh...and I did my booking online. No probs at all.

Good luck!

I just booked earlier in January for a week in August (OV studio). I booked online right at 8:00. By the end of that day the availability was spotty for the week we booked (ie all of the OV studios were gone and the other views all had a few days completely booked so that we wouldn't have been able to get a full week in any one view without a wait list).

Not sure that there is enough history for the resort yet to know when it will be busier and harder to get but summer and holidays will definitely be busy. I would assume they allowed for that some when they did the point charts. My guess is looking at the point charts that they are guessing that Jan / Feb (after the holidays) and Sept / Oct will be the slowest months so they may be the easiest to book.:confused3

I know people have different theories.............. but, I think, honestly ANY time is a good time.......... believe it or not, TODAY - I added another day to my Aulani trip for May/June - AND, there is still availability, for the whole week in studios and 1br's - all views, and were only 4 months out............. so, it's possible!!! Good Luck!! :)

I booked at 7 months for mid-May and studios were still available as of last week. I would think any time is a good time as long as it's not spring break or early June. Those times seem to book right away. I can't wait to go!

I was not able to book the first part of June. We ended up booking the first week of July. I think the key is to be online at 8:00 a.m. at the 7 month mark. You need to read up on booking quickly online. It might help to walk through the process before booking. Also, waitlisting just a day or two versus a week will help.

Not sure if you are able to change or have a desire to now, but, the first week in June was avail. yesterday, I saw it when I added a day onto my stay!! There were studios and 1br's avail. for the entire week. Good Luck

FWIW I was just on the MS website to see if I could find pricing for the cabanas (which I did NOT see) and out of curiosity I looked at the availability for the week we reserved in August. They must have a lot of people grab nights on their initial reservations then cancel off some later. The resort is not completely full but the availability is spotty depending on the unit you want so there's not a full week available in anything w/o having to waitlist. Here's where the availability stands right now for Aug 7-14:

Studios
Std - 1 n of 7 avail.
IV - 5 of 7 n avail.
Pool/Gdn - 3 of 7 n avail.
OV - 3 of 7 n avail.

1 bedroom
std - 1 of 7 avail
IV - 2 of 7 avail
Pool/gdn - 1 of 7 avail
OV - 3 of 7 avail

2 bedroom
std. - 0 avail
std. lock-off - 1 of 7 avail
IV - 3 of 7 avail
IV lock-off - 0 avail
Pool/gdn - 0 avail
OV - 3 of 7 avail
OV - lock-off 2 of 7 avail.

(I didn't look at the 3 bedroom units.)

We booked at 7 months for this March with no problems. I would think if your time frame is alittle flexible then you probably won't have alot of trouble as long as it isn't a really high demand time, like spring break or Christmas break.

Good luck!

Our experience booking at 7 months for this Aug was interesting. We booked a studio Aug 7-10 with little issue. We wanted standard view, it was available on the website but was gone when we clicked Book Room. This was right at the 7month window at 7 am sharp. We ended up with PV.

We later booked a stay for Aug 17-22 that got more complicated. Nothing was available for the entire stay. We wanted a studio again but are currently book in a BR IV for 1 night and a 1br OV for the rest. Again, this was right at the 7 month window at 7am sharp. We have 2 wait lists hoping one comes through so we don't have to move.

Just found out that our waitlist came throguh! We are now in a 1BR OV for the entire stay!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Awesome - but now I'm confused - which dates are you there for? We will be there from Aug. 7-14. I just called today to reserve a cabana for our first and last days (although depending on how our plans line up for the rest of the week we'll likely only keep 1 of them).:cool1: We've never rented a cabana before...but DS doesn't really like to be outside in the sun all day so he starts whining about it after awhile so I thought it might make him more tolerable if he had a TV in the shade to plop down in front of.:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Thanks guys I'm thinking about Sept , 2015 so I'm hoping I shouldn't have much problems.

So, you were able to book at 7 am at the 7 month mark? I thought you had to wait until 8 am. Which is correct?

Is it 8? Sorry. I was on the west coast at the time so the time zones may have screwed up my perception. All I know is it was CRAZY early for me in Cali.

It must be 8 because my wife and kids in Jersey were awake and on the phone with me as I was on the website.

Sorry bout the confusion.

Reading this thread makes me feel a little better. We are planning on honeymooning at Aulani in October and I was stressing a bit about it so we were trying to plan the wedding date around availbility at Aulani but on our first attempt someone else snatched the venue up before us so plan B is setting a date for the wedding (which we did) and keeping our fingers crossed for Aulani to be available.

We do have a 4 night cruise on the Dream booked as a back-up plan but really wanted concierge for that but didn't book that because the deposit wouldn't be refundable and the 7 night on the Fantasy had no concierge rooms available.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

We will be there Aug 7-10, then we get on the NCL cruise for a week, then check back into Aulani for the 17-22.

How old is DS? My DS will be 9 and DD is 11.

Oh so we'll be crossing paths on your first stay! My DS is older...he'll be 16 by the time we go...typical teen video game / Xbox addict.:rolleyes1 I haven't read any glowing reports for teen activities at Aulani so I am sure on our "relax and enjoy the resort days" he'll be parked in the shade with his iPad or something.:sad2: Especially since I've read that there are no waves in the lagoon.

I fear we are in competition for the cabanas now. Just called and reserved for our 1st full day. :cool1:

Hey guys, perhaps you can offer some advice or help with some of my fears.
My Fiance and I have decided that we want to get married at Aulani in the summer of 2014. She is a teacher, so the summer is basically all we have to work with.

We will be booking a combo of rooms for ourselves and family, totaling 18 people, split between a 2 bedroom, a 1 bedroom and 2 studios.

Here is where the fear comes in...we can book our wedding date 1 year out, but cannot get our rooms until 7 as we own at BLT. The only way we are able to afford this wedding in Aulani is to use our points.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks as to doing the best we can to gurantee rooms for a week, or any specific weeks of the summe that seem to be slower.

We can pretty much leave June 27th, 2014, and anytime in between then and the middle of August.

Any help would be greatly appreciated it.
