I got a quote from *** and it came in $358 higher than my AoA LM package *but* it has PHWPM added. They said they can either do PHWPM or base MYW tickets but not base+WPM. It looks like the pool there is pretty awesome though, so I'm not sure if WP would even be needed. We're not typically hoppers so that option isn't of much use. I'm waiting on the quote without hoppers.

The other downside to *** for me is that I booked through Disney already, paid in full and booked the insurance. If I cancel I can get all of my money back except for the $150 for the insurance.

Of course there is no dining with this but if we were to do it I think I would go back to my original plan of no ADRs and just doing CS where we felt like eating. I think we could still budget for that and I'd just have to tell the wife that she can order whatever she wants and not worry about the cost.

For that reason alone, I would personally stay put. Plus, I love booking through Disney and "owning" my vacation. I know people get great deals with travel companies and agents, but I love doing everything myself through Disney directly!

Question of the day:

Which TS restaurant would you choose to celebrate your anniversary?

I know this is going to sound rather wonky, because in no way does it scream "private and romantic", but I know DH's choice would be Crystal Palace.

Yup, really. Not joking.

And yeah, I must admit that I, too, would love nothing more than to celebrate our special day at MK and top it all off with a Pooh-rade. Guess these two oddballs really were made for each other :rolleyes1 .

I must thank you all, by the way. I am having a thoroughly rotten day so far, but its been nice to get some Dis-therapy with all your entertaining posts.

Hehe. Nothing wrong with Pooh. :-) We're actually having breakfast at CP on our anniversary. Pre-park opening!! Thinking maybe BOG for lunch, but depends on timing...

Hmmm....well, if you can limit yourselves to spending $357 OOP for food, then it would make sense to switch. But, if it will cost you more than that to eat, I would opt for staying with the free dining (which I assume would be the way to go)!

I would stick with POR because I'm guessing you'd spend more than the $357 in food if you did the YC?

Yes, you are all correct. We would scale back our ADR's and do mostly counter service to save some $$ and it would still end up costing more than the potential "savings". I also am generally anti-TA. I have always booked myself and prefer to do it that way.
I know the kids would love SAB and DS would love to got to a water park. (*** tix include 1-day water parks.) Hubby comes home soon, we'll have to think about it. I would love to check out YC, but we'll probably just stick with the original plan.

Not wonky at all!! I love love love Piglet (hence the username:rolleyes1) and would love to hang with him and the gang for any occasion ;)

And I am sorry you are having a rotten day. A hug for you with genuine hopes that tomorrow is much brighter:grouphug:

For those of you considering dumping your reservations for Yacht Club .. here is my two cents.
If it worked out cheaper for my family to stay at a mod and get the free dining I would because the relief that comes with not overspending on vacation makes the trip better than anything else:). Also, POR is BEAUTIFUL. We just got back from there and never once missed or wished we had stayed Deluxe. However I did leave my dream Poly trip a little sick about what I had spent. Sure we had a great time. But the price sickened me even with a 40% off code that year. So only switch if it won't create hardship later on. I think we all get caught up in upgrade fever. I am experiencing it now with booking this trip at Bonnet Creek. But I am holding out because we will likely have a very nice time.

Secondly, I've heard that Stormalong Bay is PACKED in the summer. I can't say for sure because I haven't stayed there. But wall to wall people would bother me in the pool. That's what it was like at the Poly... a bowl of people soup. It wasn't fun.

So I just thought I'd throw that in there for consideration. There's things to love, and things to not love about a deluxe and you have to do ultimately what is best for you:)

Thank You. I needed that.:)

We haven't had one of these in a while so I thought I would throw one out there. Since so many couples here are celebrating their anniversaries...

Question of the day:

Which TS restaurant would you choose to celebrate your anniversary?

DH won't ever return to Florida, but I would definitely go to Artist's Point. I read a menu from there months and months ago and I am still drooling.

California Grill, hands down! Mind you, it's closed right now so I'd probably pick Artist Point since we haven't tried it yet and we're staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

Aw, thanks  .

My mom got some bad health news today. Not sure if tomorrow will be brighter or just the beginning of a long fight :sad2:. But I never turn down a hug....and I appreciate the kind thoughts :goodvibes .

Ugh. I am in desperate need of some chocolate therapy and have totally depleted my emergency stash. :headache: Ghirardelli, why do you have to be 2258 kilometers away?!?!?

We are celebrating our anniversary on this trip. I love AP and CG, but of course it isn't open this time.

Got a revised quote with non hopping tickets. Comes out to $50 more than what we are currently paying for our room and tickets. Not a bad deal. Of course we lose the DP if we go with them and still have to figure out the insurance deal.

Talked to the wife about it and her first response was "why do you have to keep changing the plans?" She likes what we have currently and is concerned about transportation at YC. She did agree to look at it though.

It would mean scaling back the character meals to eat OOP, but that was our original plan anyways.

Like pigletto said earlier we would probably kick ourselves for paying so much to be at a deluxe resort when we don't spend much time there. For even money though it sounds cool.

We stayed at BC last year after I kept changing the plans and upgrading from a moderate to a deluxe. Yes, I really liked the resort, but I honestly didn't like having to walk to Epcot in the heat (and it took quite a while to get around to the main part with the rides the kids wanted to go on). If it were December or the Food and Wine festival, it might be a different story. The boat ride to HS was nice, but the bus to MK and AK was just like anywhere else, and we usually stopped at YC and BWI as well. And my credit card definitely didn't like the upgraded price.

Did you say you're at POR? Preferred room or Royal Room or something else? And it includes the DP? I'd probably stay where I was, but that's just me...

I'm sorry to hear that Gina. I will keep you all in my thoughts.:(

It's not on the DP, but I would say Schula's, in fact we are going there for our 10th anniversary in Aug:cool1:, My wife loves it there says they have the best crab cakes she ever had, myself I always get the 32oz prime rib:cool1:

We are booked at AoA LM right now at rack rate. No FD or other discount at the moment. The rooms are sold out the week we are there too so a resort or room change would be required to get any sort of discount too.

I hadn't thought about walking to Epcot in the heat. That might be no bueno for the kids.

When we have been in the world for our anniversary, it has been California Grill-- not this year :( since it will still be closed.
But we are very excited to try the Chefs Tasting menu at Flying Fish this anniversary!! :)

AoA LM all the way! IMHO Those rooms are sold out for a reason, ya know it's true - we got one of them that week. Plus Character Dinning means you don't have to wait on meet and greet lines in the parks. You will enjoy the upgrade, but the kids will like the LM room better by far. I'd wait until they are older and can appreciate the upgrade.

Sent in my request for a quote from *** on Wednesday and still haven't heard back from them....hmmm..maybe I screwed up the request :confused3
