Cakes and Napoleons and F&W, oh my! Planning our Disney wedding!! UPDATED 9/15!!!

Your castle photos are so pretty...love the early morning light! Ah, Crystal Palace...my favorite character breakfast! Wingnut and Pooh look like bros from the hood...wait make that the Wood! :lmao:

Hi Sara! At least you didn't forget your sunglasses in the room this time! :lmao:

Ahhh CP and some of my favorite breakfast foods at WDW. I love the puffed french toast and breakfast lasagna. The cheesey potatoes aren't bad either. :) I'm glad this worked out for you with your ADR shuffle.

Sometimes the easier Disney tries to make the check out process, the more confusing it becomes! More than once DH and I have been on the ME bus home thinking "Did we really check out?"
Mmmm Crystal Palace breakfast! It's on my long list. Don't know if it will make the cut!! haha

Not sure how I missed this last update. You must have snuck it in on me.

I absolutely love CP and the puffed french toast so I'm sorry to hear it was a bit of a disappointment. I can't wait to eat there in October!

Love the picture of the two of you in front of the castle. You hair does not look messed up at all. What are you talking about? :confused3

As much as I don't think Agent P is a character worth drawing, I do love your T shirt! :thumbsup2

I'm glad the check out situation was resolved without you guys having to go back to the hotel. And I totally understand, whenever I'm stressed about something and people are being nice to me, I feel extra stressed because I can't stop stressing long enough to be nice but then afterwards, I feel like a huge jerk!

I hope everything was ok when you guys got back home. We're from Staten Island and we still get that any time someone asks where we're from.

Your CP breakfast looks delicious! I love how detailed your notes are from the meal!

Even when I know I don't have to go to the front desk to check out, I still like I'm doing something wrong. I get all panicky, and am always asking, "So, we're good to go, right?"
In your situation not having to check out is a good thing, but no matter how it's done, it's still stressful and slightly confusing. :rotfl:

Breakfast at CP is the best. Your various egg dishes looked really tasty! And I had a similar problem with my puffed French toast when I tried it. Maybe Disney's becoming stingy with their sugar...:lmao:

Sort of hungry now.

Except you can keep that 'feet' thing. I don't think I really want to know what a feety taste is. :crazy2:

Your awesome DF thinks you look 'fab' with your hair all done up or not done at all. Isn't that sweet? :lovestruc

Hahaha I'm no expert on what feet taste like, just theorizing here!

He is very sweet :cloud9:

Yay !! Another update !! We haven't been to CP breakfast in a couple of years. We need to go back and give the Puffed French toast a try.

We really like it there! It's become one of our must-do's!

HOLY CATS! That bacon looked like real bacon!!!! Could it be that Disney has begun to fix the bacon situation??? The food all looked delish, and now I want an omelette.

Glad the check out problem was resolved somewhat easily. I would have been freaking out too.

Actually, I hadn't thought of it before, but I think you're right!!

Yeah, I tend to snowball in my freaking out over those types of things! I'm glad it was resolved easily too!!

I will be honest... I am not a fan of the auto check out. It makes me feel like I am leaving... and forgetting to turn something off. I know last trip I tried to check out anyway. They told me I was good to go... and that I should have received an email....

CP before the park opens is awesome. Love the castle pics and your food looks oh so yummy!

I know what you mean - I would almost rather have to manually check out just so I can be like "I'm ok to leave, right?"

haha oh man I know what you mean about the cringing people at the mention of New Jersey.

Thanks for the shoutout!! :D I still can't believe I got stuck there.

I'm glad you didn't have to go back to POFQ! I'm always worried I'm going to make a mistake like that and I get so paranoid and triple check everything. I wish I could be a more carefree person but I worry about it all!

Love your green Dooney! I hardly ever see that color. You hardly ever see purple too which is the one I desperately want!! I should have ordered it when I had the chance. Boo.

Oh man you just got me SO excited for our Crystal Palace reservation! We're going there the morning of my friend Lee-Anne's birthday and she loves Pooh so that's why she picked it. I personally haven't been there since like 2004, and while I love Pooh, I'm going for THE FOOD!!!!!!! :D

Hahaha I'm sure you got the exact same reaction!!

I'm a bit of a worrier too, especially with those types of things like checking out that I can triple and quadruple check!

It's funny, DF got me this Dooney for Christmas one year, and he was like "pick a color, green, purple, (and some other colors)....nevermind, I know which one you'll want" and he got me the green one! :goodvibes I love that Dooney print, it's my favorite!

Yay for Crystal Palace!! One of the best breakfast places, at least I think so!

The castle looks gorgeous with the sunrise :)

Glad you didn't have to return to pofq to check out!

CP is a nice breakfast destination! We frequent tusker house and will try boma fir breakfast our next trip.

I love those early morning Disney pics! I'm glad we didn't have to return too!!

We've never tried TH for breakfast, but we love Boma!

What a nice morning (besides the check-out stress!) Crystal Palace is a favourite of mine as well, so pretty and the food is great. I love your Perry shirt too!

Haha the checkout stress was all my fault, it was still a nice morning!!

Thanks!! It's from Target!! :thumbsup2

Stringbean - You're Alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Aw yay! We are big fans of Crystal Palace, too. Me for the characters and the food, and Matt, probably more for the food, haha. That's so not fun panicking about not checking out! I don't even recall if we ever check out or not, I just can't remember that the moment. We might but Matt usually handles it I think, haha.

Your photos of the castle are so pretty! I love the way the sun is hitting the castle. Makes me want to be there right now. :cloud9:

We're both fans of CP for the food, but the characters are fun to see!

Thanks!! I know, I wish I were there too!!

Mmm breakfast at CP!

Has your DF tried the puffed french toast at CRT? My DH likes it better than CP.

We've never been to CRT, but I've seen the pictures of the French Toast there - it looks really good!!

I wasn't wearing an anniversary pin, but your story made me think of my TR when we checked into Kidani. We were all flustered that my parents were missing, Judy and I disagreed on whether to find the room first or move the van, and as we "debated" that a DISer walked by and recognized me saying, "Hi Glennbo"! Yeah, best foot foward! :headache: :rotfl:

You always have such great notes for your food reviews. I'm picturing you and Wingnut each sitting at your meal with miniature tape recorders up to your mouths, recording your thoughts. Like this gem:

:thumbsup2

Hahaha I think I remember you telling that story in one of your TR's! We all have our moments, I guess!

LOL no, no tape recorders, although that would be funny! :lmao:

Wingnut's food reviews make me laugh! For some reason, I picture him staring off into the distance, speaking slowly and deliberately as he provides his feedback, and using his hands to emphasize his words. OK, it's funny in my head! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I totally forgot to check out once too but by the time I realized it, we were already HOME. As in BACK IN CT! I called them immediately and the CM sounded like she thought I was nuts. But I was freaking out!

Hahaha that is a funny visual, it's usually more like me showing him the picture of the food and being like "WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THIS"

Ahhh that totally sounds like something I would do too!!! Glad you didn't have to fly back to Florida to check out!! :rotfl:

LOL. The CM reaction to NJ.
EWWW! Tasting like feet. That is disgusting. How do you know what they taste like? LOL
CP was empty.
Glad to hear that you were checked out.
Great update and pics.

Yeah, everyone was a bit glued to the news that week!!

LOL not from personal experience!! :lmao:

Your castle photos are so pretty...love the early morning light! Ah, Crystal Palace...my favorite character breakfast! Wingnut and Pooh look like bros from the hood...wait make that the Wood! :lmao:

Thanks!!

LOL "the Wood!" :lmao: love it!!

Hahaha you have such a good memory!! Yes, I can't repeat the same checkout issue as the trip before!! :rotfl:

I'm glad it worked out too - we always enjoy our meal there!

I agree with that!! Aww we love it there!

I didn't think it was bad, just not Tonga Toast-esque in its sugar-overload!

Hahaha I just didn't make it into a smoother nicer ponytail, just being overcritical I guess!

Thanks!! Target!! :thumbsup2

Hahaha you summarized my morning very well!! It was a bit of a stressful entrance into the MK, but as soon as I saw the castle, everything was great again!

Yes, everything was fine by us. Our power had clearly been off for awhile, so everything in the fridge had to go, but that was our only little issue! Was everything ok with you?

Even when I know I don't have to go to the front desk to check out, I still like I'm doing something wrong. I get all panicky, and am always asking, "So, we're good to go, right?"

It's disconcerting!! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets flustered by this!! :rotfl:

Uh oh...sugar stinginess won't do!!!

Stringbean - You're Alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I am!!! Hahaha I'm so far behind on everyone's TR's it's ridiculous, but I figured I would stop by here and do some replies!!

I just noticed your ticker, you're going to Disney in FOUR DAYS??? I'm SO far behind - have an amazing and magical trip!!! pixiedust:pixiedust:

Actually 5, but who's counting! :rotfl2: I set that ticker up when we were still driving. Now we are flying, so we are leaving Saturday! :thumbsup2

Hi Sara!! :wave2: Good to see you popping in! We MISS YOU!!! Do we really have to wait 4 months for another TR?? popcorn::

Luckily we were completely fine! We had some minimal roof damage and were without power for 9 days which was quite the experience. However, given the horrible damage within a mile of us, I'm so glad nothing worse happened!

Such crazy times!

I'm only on page 14 and working on getting caught up, but you should have bought the Flamingo. I'm in a tiny apartment with no lawn and have one - he lives in my living room and spends his days looking completely awesome without any worry of being faded from sun exposure! :goodvibes

Hi Sara,
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! :) Interesting-we got married in the Courtyard of Cafe Beignet in New Orleans, and are coming to WDW to stay for our 5 year anniversary-it's in June, but we're celebrating it in Sept. I love your trip reports, and I also came through open heart surgery-I hope you have the best wedding ever! :)

Ooh, subbing! I've taken what I'm calling an "extended" Dis break, but (and this may or may not have anything to do with the fact that we've just booked our next trip....) I'm back and I'm totally excited to read about your WEDDING plans! Yay!

Hey!! I miss you guys too!! :goodvibes

Hahaha yes, but time has been flying here - I think the new TR will be here before I know it!!

Thank goodness you were ok!! It really was crazy what the storm did!!

Welcome!!! Hahaha I know, I'm sure the Flamingo is much more comfortable indoors anyways!! (I know I would be! )

What a cool wedding location - that's so fun!! Congrats on your 5 year anniversary!! :goodvibes

Hahaha yeah, I've been really bad about being on the Dis lately - I can't keep up with any TR's! :( Glad to have you here though!!

Hi there, remember me???

I know I've been pretty much the worst Dis-er lately, but I figured I would come by here and say hello!! :goodvibes

(Hi!)

Things around here have been busy (and finally starting to get summer-like warm!), wedding planning is coming along well (Friday will be a YEAR since DF proposed - I can't believe how fast time is going!), and this just happened!:

My parents have this fun "message board" on their mantle:

The ever-fashionable Stringbean:

When I last left off forever ago, we had just had breakfast at Crystal Palace, and decided to revisit a few of our usual favorites before our last Disney meal of the trip.

Don't be intimidated by my amazing score... :rolleyes1

Who wants to be here right now?

The only place in the Magic Kingdom you can have a Disney wedding is at the Swan Boat Landing. While we were in the neighborhood, we decided to pay it a visit.

I assume during a ceremony they'll put more chairs out.

View of Tomorrowland

Lunch that day was at LTT!

DF and I both had the Pot Roast, which we thought was really good, and a great-sized portion.

For dessert, DF had some sort of berry cobbler that I want to say involved rhubarb. (Can you tell I can't find my dining notes?)

He enjoyed it, but I like to think I had the better dessert selection that day, with the famous Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake (with non-dairy ice cream :thumbsup2)

Throughout the meal, our server was really sweet and kept calling us "her lovebirds". With dessert, she brought over a bag for us, and said that it was an engagement gift for us.

I don't have a picture of it at the moment (it's packed away with our holiday things), but it was a pretty silver Christmas ornament (I'll take a picture and share with the rest of our souvenirs post). It was totally sweet and unexpected of her, and was a nice sprinkling of pixie dust before we headed back home. :goodvibes

And then...sadly...our trip had to come to an end...

This was the only point in the trip that we had to wait awhile for a bus back to POFQ.

The rest of the trip from here was pretty uneventful. My dad (remember my parents were at Disney with us during this trip??) was heading to California for a business meeting, but my mom was taking the same flight with us back home. The aftermath of Sandy was still in full swing by us, with lots of power outages and miles-long gas lines, so we decided it would be best to spend the night with DF's parents (since we were landing in the evening and driving during the night was advised-against with down power lines).

The next morning, we drove my mom back home. Every gas station we passed either looked like this, or had huge lines of people waiting. (Thankfully, we had both filled up our cars before we had left for FL, so we didn't have to get fuel immediately during the craziest waits.)

DF and I arrived back home soon after that. No damage by us, but the power had clearly been off for awhile, so I threw out everything we had in the fridge and freezer (which we had anticipated happening anyways).

I will have at least one more post in this TR, a wrap-up and souvenirs post!! For all of you sticking with me on this ridiculously slow-moving TR, thank you! I really do wish I had more time to keep up with everyone's TR's lately! I promise, soon I will be back to my normal posting (and following) habits!!

Hi Sara!!! Love the bow/ribbon headpiece, it's so you! How exciting that the countdown for you two "love birds" is moving along and you are getting closer to your special day! Thanks for sharing some of your shower photos.

Awwww man, you mean they won't do weddings right in front of the castle? That's where I would want to declare my love! Personally, I think you have a lovely location selected by BW. :)

LTT is one of my favorite restaurants and the toffee cake is definitely the BEST dessert at MK! Glad to see that great taste buds think alike! :thumbsup2

I'm glad Sandy didn't disrupt things too much for your return.

I'm looking forward to hearing more and I will be super excited when I see a new TR! (you WILL do that won't you?? ;))

Welcome back to the land of your TR!

Hope you had a wonderful shower! :bride:

How sweet of the CM to give you that ornament!
