PTR - Seaworld, DCL, WDW in October 2014

I would also go to the Christmas party. But this is coming from someone who has never been to one before and really wants to.

Even if you looked at it as an opportunity to do rides with low queues and the parade and fireworks an added bonus.

I'm not sure if the MNSSHP I went to was sold out or not, but we did BTMR 3x, Splash Mountain twice, and Space Mountain twice and didn't queue for more than a minute for any of them. The only ride I remember having a queue that night was Haunted Mansion.

It's a hard decision! I just can't help think with that money we could do some new things - one of those pirate adventures for the girls, a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness, extra shopping;)

Having seen the fireworks and parade I think we would be planning to mostly do rides, but going at a quieter time of year we don't expect huge queues even during the day,

I wish we had a limitless budget (don't we all!) but I'm really torn on this one..

Last night I added tickets for MNSSHP and MVMCP to my cart and the total was over $800. My parents would pay for their share but that still left us paying over $600 which is so much money to pay for a couple of hours (especially when you already paid for park tickets so it feels like double paying).

I'm sounding like a negative nelly, I'm having a bad week:( We put an offer in on a perfect house and someone else put in an offer $10k more. We only have 2 months till our current place settles and there are no other houses on the market at the moment that we like. I think it has soured my holiday planning a bit this last two days.

I think I will think about the party again in a week:)

Thanks as always PiO and Wanderlust for your help!

If you hadn't done the Christmas Party before I'd say no-brainer do both. However, since you have done the Christmas party before I'd put the $300 towards something else. That's a lot to pay for a parade, some fireworks and cookies and hot chocolate. I think the Halloween Party is a lot better than the Christmas Party any way. Although I'd certainly take the Christmas Party over no party any day. You could always buy tickets the day before when you're there if you decide you want to go. If it ends up being sold out then it's probably for the best not to be there since it would be pretty crowded. What about the pirates and pals fireworks cruise as a fun alternative. I'm not sure if they have them on party nights but maybe you could see the Christmas fireworks that way? If you haven't done it before any way.

Hi dabecs

Where did you purchase the MNSSHP tickets from? I have been looking at the Disney world website and haven't been able to find them?

I cant comment on whether you should do both as I have never been to either, but it sounds like alot of money.

Sorry to hear you missed out on your perfect house, hopefully something comes up even better and you will be happy you missed out or the other person's offer falls through and you that house!

Thanks CJ, it will all be alright in the end. And if it isn't - it's not the end:) I just worry that any house we buy now will feel like 'settling'.

On the Disney website, under 'park and tickets' there is a section called Special event tickets and you can order them there:)

If you've been to the Christmas party before and don't feel a huge desire to go back, I tend to agree that the money you would spend going might be better spent on something new that you haven't done before. The Halloween party will be a lot of fun!

Too bad you missed out on the house you wanted. It just means something better will come along soon :thumbsup2

Thanks dabecs - I stupidly didnt go there!! Mine are all booked and paid for now, tried to select to print tickets out but kept getting errors so got to pick them up when I get there

:wave2:dabecs your trip is looking fantastic, I hope you find the perfect house for your family really soon, I would be booking the Christmas party I know it's a lot of money but the girls are 2 years older and will look at things differently, I can't imagine being there and not going to a party, we are so disappointed we just miss out on a MNSSHP this year I knew I should of booked flights home 1 day later ;)

Nice to 'see' you WAmum:)

I have decided to (try anyway!) to book the Pirates and Pals cruise for the night of MVMCP, that way we can still see the fireworks but will get to experience something new at the same time:) For me the party is about the parade and fireworks, last trip we were fortunate enough to have a front row position for the parade so I honestly don't feel I need to see it again.

Hoping they also do the water parade that night, we missed seeing it last trip.

Have to wait a few days till it's 180 days to ring..

Sounds like a great compromise :thumbsup2

Pirates ad Pals Cruise is so much fun. I would say the only down side is that there is not enough seating for the pre cruise entertainment and food. It will also depend where you are sitting on the ferry will also depend on views for fireworks and water parade, I was in an isle seat and I couldn't get great views for the photo and videos. Even with that problem we all still really enjoyed it and would recommend it. Kids even asked if we were doing it again this year.

Good luck, it sounds exciting :)

No times currently showing on the date we want to do Pirates and Pals... Will keep my fingers crossed:)

Have paid off the rest of our cruise and our WDW package - good feeling!

That must feel good, its always nice when the big ticket items are paid for.

Hope you end up getting the Pirates and Pals cruise:)

And we have bought a house!

Subject to building/pest/finance but still - we bought a house!

Settlement on our current house is two days before settlement on the new place so we will have 2 days of enjoying the mortgage free lifestyle!

Ok back to trip planning. And packing an entire house *eek*. Trip planning is definitely more enjoyable:)
