Hey all! I'll be celebrating my honeymoon on this next trip and we were planning on some really nice dining experiences. Both my fiancee and I LOVE us a nice medium rare steak! We used to swear by Le Cellier, but the prices have become astronomical and the quality has gone down substantially.

So naturally we started looking for nice steakhouses within property. Since we are staying at Yacht Club, I thought we would finally try Yachtsmans. Now, I've been hearing mixed reviews as of late - this place was highly recommended to me numerous times on past trips, but I have never eaten there before. Are most people having negative experiences with Yachtsman? I don't want to have subpar steak on my honeymoon. :)

If Yachtsman is mediocre for you, can you recommend a better place that's classy and has absolutely mouthwatering steaks? (I know Shula's is nearby, but I'm from NYC and I have no reason to shell out the money for it, when it's 20 minutes from my apartment..)

Thanks guys!

There are mixed reviews for every restaurant on Disney property. Yachtsman Steakhouse is very good restaurant and well worth a visit if you have never been there before. Since you are staying at the Yacht Club, the convenience factor is also a huge plus.

NOTE: The Yachtsman has a decent selection of steaks for the carnivores among us.
Tasty steaks, but the presentation does not measure to the high prices. If you want
to graze and don't care about how the meal looks, this can be the place. If you wish
quality steaks AND presentation AND ambiance, try Shula's.

Yachtsman is my favorite restaurant in Disney!! We will be celebrating our anniversary there the end of this month there!! :goodvibes

You're right. I guess I just saw a lot of negative reviews 2014 as opposed to other years, so I got a bit nervous... I can't wait to eat there!

I've eaten at Shula's here in New York. In my opinion, it was good, but definitely not the best steak I've ever had. (BLT Steak and the London definitely reign supreme in that category)... But thanks for the Yachtsman review! It was very helpful :) We're more about taste than presentation, so as long as it's tasty, I'm in!! :)

My personal preference for steak at WDW is Shula's but we also go to Yachtsman quite often (we'll be there next month) and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Ask for Anne if you're there Sun-Thu. She's a wonderful server.

Oh thank you so much for the tip! We're going on a Tuesday, so we'll definitely ask for her!

I have never had bad food at the Yachtsman. I have had a bad server. She just was not as interested in me (solo) as her multiple patron tables.

I actually have ADRs there twice in my upcoming trip.

For what it's worth, between the two we still prefer Le Cellier
Congratulations on you wedding! Wherever you end up, I know you'll have a magical time!

:goodvibes

You will get the good, bad and ugly on every restaurant but I think you should try it for yourself - thats the only way you will know for sure without going off of someone elses tastes.

I have dined there many many many times and have never had a bad meal - you cannot go wrong with the Yachtsman

We are big fans of YSH and would go there once a month. (come to think about it, we pretty much do go once a month) If you are looking for some other steakhouse though and don't want to do Shulas, then I'll make another suggestion: Bull & Bear over at the Waldorf Astoria (Bonnet Creek). Its a short drive (or taxi ride) there and its a really nice, but expensive, steakhouse.

We'll be eating there on our honeymoon in October! We picked it for similar reasons - we're staying at Beach Club, wanted 1 fancy meal during the week, and DF doesn't need to be convinced to visit a restaurant that has 'Steak' in it's name :thumbsup2 I'm excited!

We had dinner at the Yachtsman on 8/6 and were very disappointed :( Our server was great. Very attentive. But the food was incredibly salty. The lobster bisque on its own was salty, then they added a parmesan crisp to the top which made it almost inedible. I ordered the Land Salad and was literally crunching on salt crystals. Our steaks were cooked perfectly but again, way too salty.

I think I will skip YM next time and try a steak at Flying Fish or go back to Le Cellier.

I was highly disappointed by Yachtsman's. They may have been having an off night, but it was not busy and we still waited almost 45 min past our ADR time to get a table, and then all the steaks were improperly cooked. It wasn't the worst meal I've ever had, but was not at all worth the price. Shula's was far and away better, and actually, I thought the steak at Flying Fish was better.

We were recently at YSH a few months ago and found it very good. Make sure to mention your special occassion when you make the ADR. The other place I would suggest is next door at the Dolphin. Shulas is very good!!!!

The food at Yachtsman has always been very good, but the service for us has lacked our last visit (due to our younger age, we've managed to land old waitresses who catered far greater to the older couples around us than us).

The atmosphere at Yachtsman is a lot more relaxed than Shula's. Shula's will have far less, actually minimal, park clothing and few children, as Yachtsman will have a mix of business casual, park and maybe a handful of suits.

We still love Le Cellier if we're not looking for a quiet, more romantic atmosphere. We dine at Old Homestead, Barclay Prime, Morton's and Butcher and Singer maybe 3-4 times a month and the steaks I've had at Yachtsman AND Le Cellier have always been close in quality..

We just ate there last Weds. for my birthday. Our server Lu Lu was fantastic. We were sat within 10 mins. of our ADR. The Land salad was amazing and fresh (picked from the lettuces at the Land pavilion). Our 8 oz filet was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. We've eaten at many upscale steak houses and this is one of the best in our opinion.
