Hi everyone! I’m really excited to finally start my own PJ and TR and I hope that mine is as helpful as everyone elses!
About us
So... who we are?
My name is Katharina, called Kathi, I’m 24 years old (now 25) and I’m studying law in Munich. I’ve been a Disney fan for all my life, but didn’t find my love for the parks until recently. I grew up at a city with a beautiful lake and I love all things that have to do with water (especially the rides).
DF is called Erhard, 31 years old and is working for an American bank. He’s a gamer since his grandma found a GameBoy with a Tetris game on the street and gave it to him. He grew up in Siebenbürgen and lives in Germany since he was 5.
We’re both very geeky, although we love different (geeky) things most of the time. For example, you can easily spot Erhard being the only one wearing Legend of Zelda T-Shirts in a Disney park ;-) and me being covered with cat hair most of the time (I can’t resist hairy babies!).
How me met
This is a very classical story: we met in a ballroom dancing class.
The long story is much more complicated: I took a dancing class at school when I was 14.
After a very broken heart and the end of the class (nothing really happened, but 14 year-old girls get heartbroken very easily) I swore never to go to a dancing class again except for a refreshing course before my wedding – maybe...
Almost two years after this two of my friends helped out our former dancing teacher as assistants since he actually had a class with less girls than boys – this is very rare, but happened because one of the boys wanted to learn how to dance for his girlfriend who had already taken some classes.
Of course, one of my friends fell in love with the boy who already had a girlfriend and didn’t want to help out anymore (before knowing he had a girlfirend). So they asked me to help out which I finally agreed on. Two classes went by without another falling in love.
When they started a class that never me, nor said girlfriend hadn’t taken before, I was the one without a dancing partner since I had found my love for dancing once more and really wanted to attend the class! Our teacher called an old student – Erhard - as my dancing partner and... as cooky as it sounds it was love at first sight! Our sights crossed across the room, he came towards me and wanted to introduce himself, but we just stared at each other and my friend Jenny (now better known as Maid of Honor) did the introducing for us. Unfortunatley it took months before we had our first date, but now we’re together for over 8 years!
The Proposal
After some time talking about getting married, Erhard surprised me with the most beautiful ring (the Tiffany Setting of my dreams which I never expected him to buy me).
It was very important for him to surprise me, so he planned the proposal for the ball our dancing teacher (better known as the officiant from now on) held for his 40th birthday, although he knows I don’t like to be the center of attention.
So what to do? He already had the ring for weeks, not knowing when to propose, when the ball came up and he called our teacher, Peter, for help.
What had they planned? Well, he filled Jenny and her (now ex-)boyfriend in, so they had their camera ready and when the clock hit 12 o’clock (so that the proposal wouldn’t interfere with Peter’s birthday) the live band stopped with no further explanation. I was leaning against Erhard’s shoulder (after hours of dancing) with my back turned towards him – listening to the band.
Suddenly, one of our favorite songs „After All“ from the German band Mrs. Greenbird played over speakers. It’s a Viennese Waltz and I said to Erhard (still with my back towards him): „It’s a shame we can’t dance!“ (since no-one was on the dancefloor as this seemed like a pause in the program). He stumbled a „yes..“ and begin to slightly turn away from me. Than came a „Kathi?“ – I turned around and... he had a open ring box in his hand! Then he stumbled some sweet things and said: „Will you marry me?“ And I said....
Nothing! It’s really embarrasing, but I was so surprised I couldn’t speak. I just heard voices in my head going on like „OMG, it’s happening!“ „What’s up with you? SPEAK!“ – when I finally said a very quiet „yes!“ and just kissed him (answer enough you’d think? Not for Jenny who instantly asked after our kiss, if I’d accepted.)
And then we were engaged... for almost two years now! So, it’s time to get married!!!
