January 2016 Discount Code Watch

This is where you run into a problem. If you bought your tickets from Disney I'm not sure what they do. You could plead with them and maybe if you get a great CM they can find a way to make it work. If you didn't buy your tickets from Disney you would need to return them for a refund (if allowed) and book a package with Disney.

ETA: I have no reports or personal experience of Disney doing this, I'm just saying it might be possible if you get a really helpful CM.
We bought them from Disney. Luckily I'm working with a Disney travel agent, so I'll have help figuring this out tomorrow.

This is not correct. There is no connection between Kids and Adult prices in the SPD promo. Some people mistake it for adults pay kids prices but that was proven to not be the case last year.

You're right I was thinking the $17.54 was the discounted price of the QS plan she was paying for the adults through SPD, not the kid price.

She would add the discounted QS per night cost to the upgrade cost to get the cost per person per night on the dining plan, if upgrading from QS. I am not actually sure what the discounted price is so I was just taking the $17 as her discounted price.

Ok, that makes more sense now. Thanks!!!!

I'm actually wrong I read your post wrong.

The cost for the regular dining plan if you are getting QS plan through the play stay and dine is cost of discounted dining (per person, per day) + the upgrade cost (per person per day). I don't know what the cost of the discounted dining is.

Ah yes - I understand. Hopefully later this week we'll be able to dissect the deal and figure out exactly how the pricing does work

Does anyone know if there is a minimum stay required? We are staying just 4 nights in February.
We are currently booked at POR in a Royal room, but we have been thinking of switching to Coronado in a Business Class room. Would either type be included ( or not likely)?

Thanks!

SPD is 3 nights......

This is where I am thinking I would take the QS child price of $17.47 and then add to this the difference between the 2 adult packages which comes to $19 making the upgrade right at $36. Based on the meals we have planned the $36 would still be a good price.

I am anxious to see tomorrow. I have asked my TA to give me the breakdown. From her email it sounds like we may be right about adding the upgrade to the Value QS price. We shall see.

I have a preferred ASM booked now and know I will likely have to change. My package now is for 2 adults ASM Preferred w/ hopper is $1404 for 5 nights/5 park days.

My head is swimming. I am planning to call in the morning as well, but if anyone can enlighten me on a few questions I would appreciate it. This is our first trip staying in a resort.

We have booked 7 nights in POFQ and have 6-day hopper tickets. We did this as a package through Disney. We did not purchase a dining plan.

1. Since we booked a package (albeit without dining), my understanding is that we cannot use a room-only discount. Is that correct?

2. If they offer a Stay, Play and Dine discount, we wouldn't qualify for that either, as we have no dining plan. Correct?

3. If we want, can we add a dining plan at this point so that we would qualify for SPD discounts?

4. If we did add a dining plan to qualify for SPD, would we lose ADRs already made?

5. Is POFQ expected to be part of any discounts coming out tomorrow? I know sometimes that resort is excluded.

6. If POFQ is not included, is POR expected to be included? We might consider moving to get the discount. Could we just change our resort choice?

Thanks - and sorry for all the newbie questions - we usually camp in the Fort so we don't have these possibilities to consider. This forum has been SOOO helpful!

>>>If room only is the best deal for you, you can always cancel your current package and then just add tickets (or buy them from another source if cheaper)

>>>See #3

3. If we want, can we add a dining plan at this point so that we would qualify for SPD discounts?
>>>Yes this is very easy

4. If we did add a dining plan to qualify for SPD, would we lose ADRs already made?
>>>No - your ADRs are safe regardless of any changes made to your booking

5. Is POFQ expected to be part of any discounts coming out tomorrow? I know sometimes that resort is excluded.
>>>POFQ is included in room only, excluded from SPD

6. If POFQ is not included, is POR expected to be included? We might consider moving to get the discount. Could we just change our resort choice?
>>>POR is included in both and this would be fine as long as their is availability for your dates

>>>Glad to help - by being here I feel we're already ahead of 99% of the folks planning a trip to Disney. You're well on your way to having a GREAT trip.

Thank you so much.

The more I read in a website email that came out - they are calling it a "room rate" discount - and suggesting that it can be applied to a room/ticket package, but would only discount off of the room cost part of the package. So in that case, It looks like we could use the "room rate" discount on the room cost portion of our POFQ booking, or switch over to Riverside and add the standard dining plan to get the SPD discount.

One clarification - if this info in correct, and the discount is "room rate" and not "room only" then we wouldn't need to cancel our package to use it, correct?

I guess tomorrow will be filled with number crunching!

Thanks.

Midnight comes and midnight goes. No discounts :sad1::sad2::sad:

I even tried to create a package online to see if they were live but not on the special offers page yet. Well...hopefully sometime overnight right??

I feel your pain! Glad to know I'm not only one who doesnt see any discount yet - sigh. Tomorrow is going to be so hard (especially as we're trying to keep it a surprise from the kids). Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

Last year the discounts didn't go live online until 7:00 am Florida time.... I know because I tried several times

My 9 night package at Pop with preferred room 9 day hopper tickets and 2 adult regular dining plans with the SPD discount only saved me $326.07. Discounts were a lot less this year than in past years.

From what I can tell we basically got about 42.35% off based on the quick service price. I will take a guess abd say it should save you about $181 tomorrow based on 5 nights at a value resort
