Say Hello to New York City with the 2016 Member Cruise!

Disney Vacation Club is thrilled to announce the 2016 Member Cruise, sailing September 28, 2016, aboard Disney Magic from New York City for the very first time!

Mark your calendars for next fall and join us on a magical sailing to remember. This 4-night journey elevates the already extraordinary Disney Cruise Line experience with a broad range of exclusive entertainment and special touches created with Members in mind. During this voyage, Members and Guests will have the chance to visit the beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia, known for its natural harbors, whale watching opportunities, diverse culinary delights including craft breweries and winery experiences, and a 10-block waterfront boardwalk shopping area. Rounding out the Member Cruise experience are two entertainment-filled days at sea where Members and Guests are able to explore Disney Magic, enjoying everything that’s included from the thrill of the AquaDunk, a wild water coaster, interactive Youth Clubs featuring MARVEL’s Avengers Academy, to gourmet rotational dining inside whimsical restaurants.

Members sailing on the Member Cruise may enhance their Empire State experience by booking an exclusive Adventures By Disney New York City itinerary that will unfold during the four days prior to the voyage. As part of this trip, Members and Guests will get incredible access to a variety of uniquely New York experiences, including a taping of Good Morning America, backstage access at the historic New Amsterdam Theatre, a chance to learn Broadway choreography, VIP seating at Broadway’s Aladdin, a visit to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and a tour through the Lower East Side Tenement Museum.

For more details on both the 2016 Member Cruise and the exclusive Adventures by Disney itinerary, please visit the Member Benefits section of disneyvacationclub.com, located under the My DVC Membership tab. Bookings for experiences begin November 15, 2015.

The price point is horrible. It seems that the Member Cruise may not ever work for us again. Those "free" member gifts are not free....they are paid for with our points. Member cruises should be perks for us, not cost us more. :(

Cfudge, is the end of September the time to see whales around Halifax?

It will be interesting to see how this sells. The pricing seems ridiculous.

Or for fair value of selling points that is $6,800. That is for 4 nights for 2 adults no kids before any other expenses

I agree that the price point is too high for what you get on this. I also agree that you pay for all those "gifts" in the points paid. At least on the member cruise to Alaska we had 3 great ports and Tracy Arm Fjord that really made it all worth it to us. There's only one port to visit on this itinerary. 2 "action packed" days at sea? Not sure I'd want to risk the points and be disappointed.

  • Wednesday, September 28: Depart from New York, New York
  • Thursday, September 29: Action-packed day at sea, filled with special experiences created with Members in mind
  • Friday, September 30: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
  • Saturday, October 1: Another action-packed day at sea
  • Sunday October 2: Arrive back at New York, New York

One question that I had and Molly in chat could not answer is "Are gratuities included?" She says we will know by booking. I love the days at sea, so only one port is not a negative for me. Still on the fence, I have a friend who is interested, will be going with me.

Hello fellow Disney fans! Quick question.....is the single occupancy majorly increased? This cruise really appeals to me since, I'm in the Philadelphia region and could easily drive to NYC. My husband is willing to send me alone (which is heaven for me!) since the kids can't miss school that early in the year. What do single occupancy rates looks like? Is it even worth it? We did the August 2015 Member Cruise, and with the kids I really didn't find it worth the extra price. My kids don't like the kids clubs so we didn't get to do many of the special extras. I would love to do this on my own and totally be Disney Geek for 4 nights! What are your thoughts and price knowledge of single occupancy? Thanks!

Price is based on double occupancy, so my guess is that single occupancy would be charged for double as it is on regular Disney Cruises. The only difference is that since Member Cruises already include taxes and port fees, you won't realize the savings from not having to pay the fees for a second person. Do you have someone who might be interested in going on a Girls' Cruise with you?

Live in NJ so port is close, but that's a lot of points....

Besides did the very last cruise out of NY, got an email from DVC ABOUT it, think it was something like $1200 for 3 cat 6 veranda. And that was 5 nights to Canada

So let me get this straight--440 points for 2 in a category 11C. My annual dues for 150 points is $900.00. Three years worth of points for a 4 night cruise which I will be paying minimum of $2700. in dues. Yep - I forgot all the free stuff I'm gonna get. So glad for this member perk! Ridiculous DVC.

It will be interesting to see how many DVC members choose to use their points elsewhere.

As a DVC member the points verses cash was never a fair exchange so I don't see me ever using my points for a cruise.
