Almost ready to book for our end of August trip...we have been to the Poly many times, but never stayed there. I'm hearing about construction?? Can someone please let me know what this entails and if it would really affect our visit? I'm torn between choosing AKL or the Poly....we love the animals BUT that monorail will be looking dang good for a mid day break on a 90+ degree day, which is what is making me think the Poly would be best for my family this time around. THANKS :)

I would say that the construction could affect your stay. Based on pictures that have been posted, it looks like they have blocked 1st floor patios on sections of buildings they are working on. It's my understanding that Niue and Samoa are done. They are working on Ratatonga and Hawaii garden view now which leaves Fiji, Aotearoa and Tuvalu garden view to go. You may want to request a longhouse based on what has been finished just to be safe.

Question, what kind of coffee pot does the Poly have?? I wanted to bring my own, but wasn't sure if it was a keurig. Thank you

We're staying in the newer DVC studio rooms in May. I believe they are the long buildings nearest the TTC. I'm working on timing things for my itinerary, but I need to know how long to expect to walk to the TTC. I've read online that the path (shortcut) to the TTC was down or taken out, but I've also read it's back, maybe? Somewhere I read you need to walk around up by the bus stops, which seems like an unnecessarily long way around. Can someone please help me out and tell me if there's a path directly to the TTC?

Thanks so much!

Your question has been answered, but I wanted to say I hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

Hi All! First time poster here, looking for some advice! Really looking forward to our April Poly visit - we are staying lagoon view, club level. We've camped at Fort Wilderness, stayed at a bunch of the moderates and the AKL - Kidani village, but this is our first time at the Poly and it really feels like a dream come true! With two young boys (5 and 2) I'm wondering if you would recommend a ground floor room (with patio) or balcony room? I'm wondering what I should request for the online check-in. I think there are only a couple of balcony rooms in our booking category anyway...but I'm wondering if there are better advantages to the ground floor with young kids? Thoughts??? Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome to the Dis and the Poly FAQ :welcome:

I would request a balcony, but that's just my preference as I'm thinking the view would be a little better the higher up you are :).

What great pics! I can't wait to see it in person in September. Thanks for sharing :flower3:

We have just booked our second Poly stay for mid-August, and I am having trouble deciding on my longhouse request. We are booking a garden view room. On our last poly trip we stayed in Tokelau, first floor, east side, close to the beach. My kids favorite thing was having direct access to run back and forth to the beach from our first floor room. I loved that they could run to the beach with dh while I sat on the patio with my coffee. If we are looking for easy direct access to a beach, what will our best bet be now? Based on Tikiman and touring plans, it looks like maybe Fiji or Aotearoa? We were never on that end of the resort on our last stay, so I am unfamiliar with it.

I can't help as I'm not too familiar with that end of the resort either, but I wanted to say I hope you have a great time :wizard:.

I was just wandering around the Poly. They are doing a test for service people at the Oasis Pool. I asked about it and was told they hope to soft open for resort guests in a couple of days.

Hope you're having a nice trip. Thanks for the update ;).

I can't help, but hopefully others will be able to answer :flower3:.

Question...
How busy is Trader Sams these days? We are arriving on a Saturday (April 9th) and considering spending that evening having a few drinks at the Poly and maybe catching some fireworks from a beach area? Is that a feasible plan or is it crazy busy on Saturdays?

The path has been back open since March 2015. Some sites still list it as closed but that is incorrect.

Hawaii garden side is almost done (just need to paint the supports) but the lagoon side has not started. Rarotonga is complete and Niue is complete. Samoa is Complete on the Oasis pool side and is in the process of being done on the Lava Pool side. There is no posted schedule for when the other longhouses will start or be completed.

I'll be checking in to the Villas with my DW and in-laws next month. I'm planning on arriving early to park and take the monorail to EPCOT for the day, and take our luggage to the room before dinner at Ohana. Do people have more luck with online check-in over speaking with cast members? I'd like to get the whole experience of checking in at the lobby (a bit silly I know, but I always look forward to that moment), but I'd be willing to trade that for a practical benefit, like guaranteeing that MBs work or having the right room ready.

Any suggestions on getting a non-parking lot view while avoiding the ferry boat horns?

So I called the other night to make a request and the CM asked if I am celebrating anything. I told her I was visiting for my birthday. She said something about having something in the room (the phone connection was horrible.) My question is to anybody who has had something left in their room for their birthday. What do they leave in there, if anything? Thanks in advance.

I've celebrated wedding anniversaries at Disney. They'll leave signed pictures or greeting cards either before check-in or it will be slid under the door at some point during our stay. It's a nice touch that says, "We're happy for you," or "We pay attention to what you tell us."

Hi all - first time at Poly coming up in November. We have a Standard room. Looking at the map and the Touring Plans room/building info, it looks like Niue has a really nice location (close to the main lodge, not too close to the monorail, etc.) Any other pros/cons I should consider? TIA.

My research says Niue doesn't have king bed rooms and there isn't an elevator in that building itself. If those things don't matter, I think it's a good choice.

Staying there in sept with DH and DD age 4. Think best to be near transportation. Which longhouse would you recommend? Thanks

By the way, lots of torches-might be very cool at night.
