THANK YOU for saying this. I kept my mouth shut bc I'm one who ALWAYS books in advance of any deal and I know many people frown upon that bc of the train of thought that it will lessen promo chances. However, we stay at the Poly or GF (this time Poly) and I just like to reserve the room and view I want as soon as we lock up our dates of travel. Many dates are in fact booked and not showing availability and I would hate to see someone hold out for a deal and then not have a room at the resort they want or only be left with higher priced options. If you are not changing dates or resorts regardless of a discount or promo, I would book and be done with it. I get what I get, whether it includes a bonus of a discount of some sort or not.
I don't think Anyone has said not to book if you were did not care if you got a discount. Only if that FD dining promo was important for your trip.

Do you have the dates it dropped years prior to last? I would be interested in seeing that. I thought last year was a glitch that they were stuck following through with? I do really hope they follow last years schedule.

Just google "Walt Disney World historical discounts." I don't think I can post the link to the website, but it should be the first thing that comes up. They have a chart that goes back to 2012.

2013 it was around May 9th and that was only for end of August - first few days of October. Later weeks in October- December did not drop until the end of July/early August.

I've seen no one telling those who are going regardless not to book. If you are going regardless.. Of course book early.
Its a fact..pre booking if you can only go if FD is offered is not beneficial at all....period.

Been doing this a long time, flame ears have been started over this topic , so lets not start another one.

Fact is there are people in this forum who get ticked off because they know people pre book , because they feel it lessens the chance for FD for everyone else...

The UK Free Dining Offer was released this morning :) hope you all get your FD offers soon!

The Official Disney World website has now also confirmed changes to the Dining Plans for 2017 also - QS and Regular Plans are getting an extra snack and losing dessert from QS meals. Not a lot of information on Deluxe Plan but according to last link it seems that it's losing its appetiser!

That's a definite downgrade for the quick service plan, but I see it as a positive change for the regular TS plan.

What are the dates for the UK offer? Do they match the rumored dates for the US offer?

No, ours are always a lot more generous (sorry!) you qualify for FD for 5 night stay or longer any time of the year, bar a few weeks over Easter and December!

We also get money off our 14 night ticket, free memory maker and a $200 gift card for booking our 2017 stay before July!

What a breath of fresh air!! I completely agree with you!!!! Part of the magic is booking. Last time I booked free dining I had ADR's booked before I knew I was getting free dining. I've NEVER had trouble adding a promotion. Some rooms on property are hard to book and if that's your dream....book ahead of time!!! Keep the magic and be positive to those who ask!
Agree. I always pre book because if there's a certain room I want, and everyone else already books them before it's released, I KNOW there's zero chance I will get it. If I prebook it, it may or may not be released in the promotion, but at least I've got a shot. Last year, I prebooked 2 standard rooms at CBR. When FD was released, the night before there were no standard rooms even available at full price. I had no problem the next morning adding FD to my standard rooms. ( people have said this is impossible) So yes, it does help to prebook sometimes. I also agree booking and ADRs are the best part. If you want BOG dinner, or some other hard to get ADRs, you can't book day by day, you need that +10.

My 2 cents on booking.

Please do not tell people to NOT reserve ahead of time so FD wil be offered. Its bad advice.

If you are planning on going to WDW no matter what , your best best is to book in advance . Many resort hotels get booked up 6 months out. (Poly has no regular rooms for many weeks in November already) . If you wait to book its possible all the rooms in you selected resort and room category will be unavaiable.
If you cannot travel UNLESS FD is offered then I suppose you have no choice. But to suggest other people should not book a major vacation just so we can have a better shot at FD is just over the top.

The avaiablilty of FD will always be dependent on the need to fill rooms, just dont put you magical vacation plans in jeopardy waiting and waiting and waiting for a deal that might be very limited at your choosen resort.

Again my 2 cents.....
For those who are going anyway--WHY?? are you following this board????

I want Free Dining and I will not Book ahead of time expecting to add it on later, For those who do book ahead, there is NO guarantee that you will get any discounts if you book early.
It will only lesson the chance for Disney to have rooms or resorts available because they are all booked up and there is no need to offer them.
