2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

No. We tried to stay away from the parks a few years ago and won't do it again. WE spend a lot of time on dining and are not commando in teh park,s but I could not stay for 6 days and only get two days in the parks.

Thanks for the input! I know my husband and I could do it - but it might be harder with the kids. I just don't know. He wanted a room only reservation this year (actually he didn't want to go at all, the room only was supposed to be a compromise) but then the rumors of free dining for our dates started swirling.

At Disney we usually only eat twice a day, so deluxe would just be so much food probably. And more reservations are usually not good for relaxation - they are just more places to try to get to on time.

Other thoughts?

Ok. I'll ask my question a different way. Since POR is not included after October 1, if I start my trip that day, is it available for my entire stay, up to 14 days of course.

Trying again for advice - this is moving fast!

I was just playing around with booking, looking at options of ticket length etc., and I had a thought. If we get 5 day tickets with water park, it is almost the same price as getting 2 day tickets with water park and upgrading to deluxe dining. We would stay 6 nights. Would this in any possible way be worth it? We would do a half day in each park, hitting the highlights. We would have three free days to go to the water parks and enjoy our hotel pool and Disney Springs. We would have all kinds of dining credits, which we would use to splurge on as many 2 credit meals as possible. We are a family of 6, so a dinner show costs us at least $200, making the approximately $1000 deluxe upgrade still less expensive than paying out of pocket for the non-covered meals on the regular dining plan, if I am figuring right - although of course we wouldn't book so many reservations if we didn't have deluxe dining, but I could drive myself crazy with all the permutations.

Anyway - would any of you ever do that? Sacrifice park time for more of a freewheeling experience and go nuts on trying new restaurants that would traditionally be way too expensive for us?

I think it's all about what your family likes. I'm kind of a purist - I go to Disney for the entire experience, but a major part of that is the parks, and I like to be in them every day for at least part of the day. I have never been to the water parks, though, so maybe I'm missing something important. But I feel like there are waterparks in my own area, and shopping, and mini golf, etc - but there is nothing remotely like the World and I want to enjoy every minute of it.

Your preferences may vary, that's just me.

In the past it was. Don't think it was available last year though.

#3 scares me. lol What could go wrong?

I'm jealous that you got some sleep! I wish I would have! Luckily I am off work until Thursday (for unlucky reasons, my wonderful grandmother passed away) and don't have anywhere to be tomorrow/today until 1

Wooo! Slept from 9:30-midnight and it took me 40 minutes to catch up on this thread. Now it's time for me to just refresh refresh refresh and figure out what to watch on TV. DH is super sick so he took some meds and went to bed.

Booking three rooms 9/13-20 @ POP. 2nd choice ASMu. 3rd ASSp

as long as check in day falls within promotion dates, you're good for your whole trip!

Unless it changes, you get free dining for up to 14 days as long as your check in date is in the included free dining period.

I would agree. We could do water parks elsewhere. I would rather make maximum use of time in parks.
