Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Anyone know where I can find a list of the foods currently offered at club level. Thanks:thumbsup2

IPO sent this to us before our trip:

Each day there will be a continental breakfast from 7-10:30am, lights snacks from 11:30am-4:30pm, hor d'oeuvres from 5-7pm with desserts are cordials from 8-10pm. There is not a daily menu of items to choose from, each day there will be similar items offered. Breakfast includes cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, fruit with milk, coffee and juice. Light snacks include potato chips, hummus, bread, crackers and trail mix. Hor d'oeuvres include 2 hot selections, 2 salads, a cheese selection, a bread selection, and an amuse bouche. Desserts will be a variety of sweets from layer cakes, cupcakes, cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and Rice Krispies.

Last week, the hor d'oeuvres changed nightly, they had scallops wrapped with bacon, beef wrapped with bacon, spanakopita, salmon, tuna, etc.

I have been spiffing up Post 12 (Club Level) a bit this morning. I just learned there is a toaster backstage that is used exclusively for gluten-free items. The CMs will toast your items for you before they are brought out to you if you ask.

Not sure if there is something similar for people with nut or other allergies. I'll check.

I came across this list of amenities that is somewhat outdated. Can anyone help with the comments I have highlighted? This list actually applies to all Disney club levels, not just Y&BC

We stayed YC CL in May, and had assumed there would be a DVD/Blu ray player because all of the other CL rooms we have stayed at had one. One night the kids wanted to watch a movie so we asked, and were told that they had them to request. Actually, depending on who you asked we got a different answer. One CM said they should be in the room and it was odd we didn't have one. Another said that they had taken them out and were phasing players and movies out of all rooms Resort wide and eventually getting a pay movie service on the TV. But regardless someone brought a blu ray player to our room and hooked it up, and they did have movies behind the CL CM desks Very old, outdated movies. I made a joke about how it's Disney, they should have a great movie library, and was pretty much put in my place about how no one should watch movies in vacation and physical copies are outdated, and no one wants them anymore :rotfl:. As we were asking to borrow a movie to stay in the room and watch!

Also, we did use the gluten free toaster when staying CL. The first CM toasted bagels for us behind the scenes. The second day a different CM said we couldn't toast them, and when I mentioned that they had been toasted just the day before for us, he then miraculously produced the toaster (wrapped in saran wrap and labeled allergy) for me. He plugged it in beside the regular toaster and I toasted the Gluten free bagels myself. From then on I just asked for the toaster, and tried to be very proactive about telling a CM when I was done so non one accidentally toasted regular bread products in it. I saw many other people asking for GF items during our stay, and the toaster was used by others as well, so GF is fairly common. They would also give me a fresh, unused tray of butter and/or cream cheese so there was no contamination from non GF bread.

What I mentioned about toasting Gluten free bagels is an example of the odd discrepancies between CMs at Disney. I mean, you either toast the gluten free items or you can't. It wasn't a new CM, I could tell from his interactions with others he was a long term one there, he just didn't seem to want to mess with toasting my bagels until I pressed him on it.

I'm very excited to be staying at BCV for the first time in Oct. Two of the kiddos and I will first be at the Swan for 2 nights (DH, MIL, and the 2 older kids will be at universal's cabana bay) before we all get back together in a 2 BR villa on Oct 21. Staying until the 30th. Our longest WDW trip yet and first time to take MIL. We are also meeting up with my sister/BIL/their kids, who will be staying at the Swan, for 5 nights.
Once you have stayed for a long trip, it's hard to imagine going back to shorter ones! Happy planning!
Do you mind me asking when you made your reservation for the villa? Are you a DVCer, renting points, or a cash reservation? I am hoping to get a 2BR BCV for Oct. 2017, but I've read here that they are very hard to get.
Thanks!

Thanks!

We are staying on rented points and I started looking in late December. We had a contract in place on January 7th.

Hi again Dee!
Please add us to Be Our Guest.
We have added yet another trip to BCV...December 26,2016 - January 2,2017 this time with 3/5 of our kids.
Love that they play soccer and there is always a Disney tournament at Christmastime! :santa::santa::santa::santa::santa:

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

The Yacht Club had USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times available everyday (except Sunday) last week. I seem to remember the NYT on Sunday.

I wrote a quick summary of our trip on the Club Level board. It was a blast!

Thank you for your review! Very detailed and helpful. Would you mind if I posted it here and/or link it to the reviews in Post 16?

:thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Consistency certainly seems to be an issue!

has anyone used touring plans having a hard time finding a full balcony and day bed for BC CL Water view thanks this is for next month!!

If coming on I-75 to the turnpike, you will have 1 toll plaza. Total according to their website is currently 2.90. This is IF you are going to take 429 to Disney. 429 is a toll road as well and using Sunpass you would have 1 additional toll of 1.37 (according to site).
If you take the Turnpike all the way to I4 you would have additional tolls, but I don't know the amount. It is very easy (less busy) to take 429 West (sign will say Tampa), take exit 8 (Western Way), and go that way to Disney. If you want more directions this way, just ask. It will save time, gas, and aggravation. I now live in Winter Garden and avoid I4 whenever I can.
Sarah

I don't know about buying the SunPass. We have never looked into that. But if coming 75 to Turnpike and then going 429 to Western Way there are 2 tolls to pay if don't have SunPass. One is $3 and the other is $1.50. So round trip coming and leaving we spent $9 on tolls.

I have not used touring plans. I don't think there are many rooms that meet that criteria, but I do know there is (or was prior to the room renovations) at least one as I stayed in a room with a daybed and very large balcony in 2013. I don't remember the room number off of the top of my head, but there is a description and about a million pictures in the BC Room View thread in the Resorts Community subforum.

I think your best bet is to call Disney resorts reservations and add a request for a full balcony and daybed (in the priority order you have for the requests) and also contact CL IPO and let them know your preference for a room.

BCV is tight year-round, but the studios are the toughest to get, especially in October because of F&W. If you book early enough, you should be able to get a 2BR, especially if you rent points (which is what I'd suggest for a 2BR if you don't own..)

I wouldn't bother either unless you're planning on doing a lot more driving around the Orlando area. We drove every year for many years from Atlanta and I never bought a sunpass. (Of course, just as my luck would have it, we moved right after they merged with the PeachPass I had. I always took the turnpike to I-4 and came in that way, but that was just my preference.)

I'm still weighing up hire car vs uber everywhere... If you use uber to get to the parks, do you have to pay a parking fee or anything to get them to drop you off close to the park?

This thread was very helpful when I was planning our stay at BC (last week). While I was there, I took a couple of pictures for you guys.

First, they now have specialty fries on the menu at Beaches & Cream! I had the ones with cheese and candied bacon and onions. They were delicious! They were supposed to have ranch as well, but I ordered them without the ranch.

Second, we had a standard room. They gave us 3711 (had a daybed) on the third floor. Since a lot of people ask what a standard view is like, I took pictures.

And lastly, people often ask where the standard/garden/water view rooms are located. I was able to get pictures of the map they had at the front desk. The 'Floor' titles are added by me.

Hope this information helps people out!

ETA I'm not sure why the floor plan images are so small. I have the pictures much bigger. @natebenma, if you want the full images, I can email them to you.

I agree- if I did not live here I would not bother with Sunpass, unless you drive here often or will be doing a lot of driving in the area (or driving to Miami). But the person asking the question specifically asked about toll prices with the pass. The tolls are slightly higher cash wise, but still not outrageous.
