Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

Do all standard 2 queen rooms at BWI have a day bed? What size is the daybed and is it terribly uncomfortable with springs poking? Thanks!
I don't know if all rooms have them, but our 6'3" son slept on it, and said it was comfortable. It's better than a typical pull-out sofa, because the mattress is flat, and flips over in one piece from the sofa side. I think what can make pull-outs uncomfortable is they are folded in half, which this doesn't.

That's not too bad thanks.

I'm looking for a map of BWI with room numbers but can't find one. Does anyone have something like that? Does the first number refer to the floor number? Like 4398 would be 4th floor?

If you check the second post on page 1, Kook has a map showing not every room with numbers, but the locations of number ranges. That may be of some help.

I just got a construction e-mail for our stay, June 14-22nd. Anyone know what construction is going on? As long as it's not the main pool, we should be ok. Last June there was some painting of the outside and work on Flying Fish, but it was no big deal at all.

I am hoping what ever this new construction will not impact our stay.

I'm wondering the same thing. We're staying at BWV for our June/July trip. I came in here looking to see if anyone knew about the planned construction project.

Wow, really not pleased. I'm staying at BWI in July. I thought refurb was only going until May?!? May need to switch to BC...

Is the gondola station that is hear the gas station going to be a pick up and drop off location? I am not quite clear on what is going on with the gondola or it's purpose??

Just booked yesterday & got free dining at BW (our first time staying here) for Nov 15-20!! We are So excited!!

We are booked in a 1 bedroom villa direct with Disney with a standard view. Does The Boardwalk have cribs or is it a pack n play? Also we will be travelling with a 1 year old, what room request would be best? We want a quiet room but also close to the pool and transportation. Does the Boardwalk have a splash pad? It will be our first time at this resort so I have no real sense to the layout. Lastly what are some good take away food options, doesn't just have to be at the Boardwalk.

Pack and play.

the main pool and slide were refurbished in February. The BW has been sending out emails for months and months. They've been doing painting and balcony maintenance. It wasn't very noticeable in February.

Regarding a splash pad - no unless they added one in the last year, but there is a 'baby/toddler' pool. The kind that is shallow enough for the baby to sit in or walk around and splash. This is actually the area where we usually get our lounge chairs because it is so quite there, tucked away from the main pool but easily accessible to the main pool.

Yesterday I received my second e-mail notice about our upcoming May trip. We also got them for our August and December trips last year. I think they're just covering their bases so people can't say they didn't know about the work. There is always some sort of maintenance going on at a resort of this size. I'm guessing it won't be very noticeable in May, too.

Thanks for letting us know about your February experience.

I got a second email about my stay in May too. I think it'll be actual construction the way it was worded differently from the previous email. I believe they are starting work on the new gondolas and there is a turning point just outside the hotel's parking lot. I'm really hoping it won't be bad. I didn't want to stay anywhere doing construction and now all the hotels are booked up so can't move.

My notices about our May trip are pretty similar. I've put the substance of the two messages below.

First message:

We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas!

Walt Disney once spoke of how his creations would never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world. It is in this spirit that we embarked on several refurbishment projects across the Resort that will be taking place during your visit. Throughout this time, the Resort will be in full operation with all amenities available to you, including our dining, merchandise and recreation locations.

While we work our magic, it is possible that you may see or hear construction. Noise impacts will be limited to the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know that we are making every effort to ensure your comfort and enjoyment of all we have to offer.

In the first, they don't specifically mention Flying Fish. They also change from talking about when noise from the construction will occur (9-5) to when noise will not be heard (dusk to 9am).

My understanding is that the Gondola turn will be across from the Speedway fueling station. They will likely take up parking space (annoying for those with cars) and may interrupt the traffic flow, but I'd think the noise won't be too bad. I'm actually looking forward to seeing that construction. The Gondola idea is awesome. I wish they were building a station near BWI -- of course, walking to DHS and Epcot is even easier!

I wish I could be that excited about the whole gondola idea, but I'm not. One of the loading/unloading areas will be the IG area behind EPCOT. I really hate the idea that the IG area will now, or has the potential to become as congested an entrance/exit as the front of the park. At least that is my fear. :sad2::scared:

Good point. And that area is not equipped at the moment to handle anything more than mild crowds without a backup. I hope they re-imagine their plans there.

One of my most favorite things is the peace and quiet of walking to EPCOT through the IG!

I just spoke with a room assignor at the boardwalk. I asked for a ground floor and she said a standard view at the inn side starts at the 2nd floor. but then i looked on touring plans and there are ground floor rooms available???????

I have found Touring Plans to extremely inaccurate when it comes to room types and room amenities.

Got email the other day also. Second email and it is worded different than the first one.

They were painting when we were there in Oct 2015. Can't believe still doing exterior work

I have received the same two recent e-mails for my stay in May at the Boardwalk Villas :rolleyes1 This will be my first Boardwalk stay and I am beyond excited :cloud9: So I am hoping there won't be much inconvenience pixiedust:
