Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

This is the information about the renovations/construction at the resort that is on the DVC website. I will be calling them tomorrow and asking about it. This message has a lot different tone than the emails received.

Pardon Our Pixie Dust
In an effort to make your future visits more magical, Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Disney's BoardWalk Villas are currently undergoing refurbishments through May 2017, including routine exterior maintenance and painting. During this time, it is possible you may experience some noise. However, all work with the highest potential for noise will be limited between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Due to limited parking availability, we highly recommend that all Disney Resort Guests take advantage of our complimentary transportation options. Be advised that self-parking may not be available for Guests arriving in their own vehicles; valet parking may be the only option. Guests visiting Epcot are encouraged to utilize the Epcot Guest Parking Lot.

Ok. Make sure you understand all of the rules if you decide to rent points. Lots of people are considering it lately because it sounds cheaper, but aren't clear on how it works.
Ok. Where do I find a list of the rules? Sorry, if that sounds dumb. It's all new to us.

Anyone know what's going the week of Dec 10th? Seems a lot of resorts are full or close to. Just curious.

If you check out the DVD forums there is a section on renting there that lays out the rules.
The main thing is that your dates are locked in and usually unable to be changed or cancelled. Usually 1/2 payment due at booking and rest 45-60 days before. There are security concerns too if going with a private owner.
Dec time is one of the most popular for DVD, especially the beginning weeks. In order to rent there has to be an owner with enough points who wants to rent them. I've heard there are more renters than owners on alot of the rental sites which drives the cost of points higher.
When we rent over Thanksgiving, our owner is kind enough to get on the phone at 7am 11 months out to secure the reservation.
Towels and toiletries are replaced day 4 and garbage emptied. Day 8 is full housekeeping as PP said.
Good luck!

We're staying at the Boardwalk Inn for the first time in September. We booked a Standard View room as we spend most of our time in the parks. Are there any room requests that I should make for staying in a Standard Room? Thanks for your help!

I just saw this on the Yacht and Beach Club thread....
April 2017: New room amenity- one liter of Dasani water in room free-of-charge.

Does anyone know if BWI is doing this as well?

I don't know about BWI, but we had this last year at Contemporary. And they actually replaced it each day.

Here now. In a CL room, and there was water in the room free of charge.

I spoke to an excellent Cast Member at DVC. She read the two emails that we were sent and her basic information sheet talked about work in the parking lot.

She put me on hold and called over to the resort. The person she spoke to said the work is in the parking lot and that since we have a Boardwalk view we should not hear any noise. Those folks with certain garden/standard views may hear some of the nose. Neither was able to clarify the Dusk or 5 pm time frame.

Somebody gave you most of the rules above. The other thing is availability. Some units are harder to get than others. Something might theoretically fit in your budget, but that doesn't mean it is available. Also, you can pay for the dining plan but cannot get free dining.

I'm here now and the only signs of construction/maintenance we've seen is on the Boardwalk itself. They appear to be painting the railing and they have "Wet Paint" signs on the ground by the railing, but I haven't seen any progress since we arrived on Saturday.

My wife went down to the lobby this morning and ceiling on the 4th floor by the elevators (BWV side) was dripping water and bubbling up, so there may be more construction this week.

We had Dasani water daily in our BWI room. I wish we had known about this before we bought a case of water for the room! It's definitely a nice perk!

Just stayed in this category. I requested "highest floor" and "near elevator" (not sure the exact phrasing but you get the gist). I received 5304 and was very pleased with it. It took very little time to get to our room from the lobby. Here is a night time shot from our room

We had one over the weekend.

We are back from one night at BWI CL - we had an awesome huge balcony on the corner so we had a garden and a boardwalk view - on the 4th floor - that was an upgrade from our standard view that we booked! We thoroughly enjoyed all of the CL offerings - we took advantage of all but the dessert - the bus back that night was ridiculous - took 40 minutes to arrive - so we missed out on those - loved the lounge and the CM's were wonderful. We didn't love the layout of the resort - and that clown creeps me out a big - but I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again - especially CL - had a great 30 hours there! LOL!

Not quite. If you stay seven nights or less, you get your trash removed and towels replaced on day four (day one is check in day). If you stay eight nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day four and trash removed and towels replaced on day eight. Then the cycle repeats.

Correct! Thank you for clarifying my post!
I should have thought about the switch on the longer stays.
