Menus are changing!

This absolutely could be a coincidence but every time we've been to Yachtsman during Free Dining the fish option has always been salmon. At other times of year I've seen grouper and even halibut on the menu.

Kona got rid of the Shrimp Tempura roll my daughter and I loved. Now it includes eel and cream cheese. That's super disappointing. But I know there is still plenty of delicious food in Disney World so we'll move on and find something else to love.

I'm sure they'll make it how you like, but I LOVE eel, so that's a welcome addition for this woman! I HATE mayo with the burning passion of, something passionate, and they never have a hard time omitting the possible mayo based sauces, and will even change up hamachi for salmon for me. Ya'll should be fine:)

This happens about twice a year at Disney from past experience (with smaller changes happening seasonally as well) and like clockwork, the complaints happen as well.

I guess I don't understand. I don't book a specific restaurant with a single dish in mind. Yes, I may pick a few that look good (especially since I have foods I have to avoid so I am looking for "safe" options), but never do I put all my chips on one option. Why? Because menus are subject to change. No matter where you go. It's not just something that happens at Disney.

I think it is because they change their menus so infrequently, that it seems we can count on certain items. I have no idea how long the Big Kahuna has been on the menu at the Kona Cafe, but it has been years and years.

Thank you to the OP for bringing this to our attention! :)

I'm now going through my dining plans once AGAIN, possibly removing some options...

Not something I do, but I can understand changing plans if you feel super disappointed over a favorite dish being removed from the menu.

Just ate at Yachtsman's last night. The fish right now is sea bass.

If you purchase cheaper ingredients (cheaper cuts, more available items), it saves a ton of money. Macadamia nuts might be pricey right now, so it's an easy call to get rid of them for normal syrup and pancakes (normal fake maple syrup costs pennies)...

Actually, the menu description on the WDW website after the update is identical to the January description on wdwinfo.com:

  • Macadamia-Pineapple Pancakes - with Macadamia Nut Butter, Pineapple Sauce, and your choice of Ham, Bacon, or Sausage
Even the prices are the same, $13. And the WDW menu is absolutely updated while the wdwinfo one is not yet.
I think there's another factor here too. My guess would be the upcoming free dining also has some impact on what is being offered
Not anyway, but not this far before the promotion starts.

This could easily be seasonality, or what's freshest, or popularity...

Changes in menus definately affect our ADR choices since DH is a picky eater, I do our ADR's in 11 Days so I need to go back a review any menu changes

Thank you to the OP for the info! We will be at Disney this coming Friday for 4 nights. Went right to the Disney app. and checked the menus at the places we have reservations. Kona is the only disappointment so far.

And I think putting cream cheese in a sushi roll is a crime against nature and Japanese food. So you can never make everyone happy. Eel is fine, but cream cheese belongs on a bagel.

I hope there is mayonnaise! We need it to defeat the Jellians.

Any chance that the Trattoria Al Forno Bon Voyage Breakfast menu could be one of the ones changing? I've seen the menu and it looks like it may be a little too adventurous for our party...

Interesting because this is what I saw when I clicked on the menu on the Disney Dining website just now:

Pancakes
with Macadamia Nut Butter, Pineapple Sauce, and your choice of Spiced Ham, Bacon, or Sausage

$13.00

Thanks! Good to know. I'm getting ready to make ADRs. Ill be checking menus as well.
