So exited! Just got news that we passed! I had an old key west contract bought back 3 weeks ago so was hoping this would pass. I knew the price was high so figured that would help us pass!!!!

jamie3631---$107-$5,350-50-BWV-Oct-0/15, 0/16, 100/17, 50/18
Congrats! Could you format that with the link in post #1 so it can be added to the list? That'd be a big help!

I didn't know they could do that, it's awful for you I'm sure.
Thankfully we are not actually going back to Disney for a few years, so we're not in a huge rush. I had hoped to get the contract and then build my savings back up, so having the contract sooner was more ideal, but oh well. Looks like we may be in a long wait given how few listings there are now and I refuse to pay more. The worst part is the seller made everyone agree to a 1 month delay after closing docs were received, only for them to bail. My theory is they think they can get more for the contract now in comparison to back in March.

But now, won't they have to pay the commission? That will eat into any profit they would have gotten otherwise.....again, I am sorry. That is just stinky.

On an 88 point contract, I just don't see the value in pulling the plug... even if they got $10 more a point (unlikely) it's hardly worth the lost commission, let alone the delay and uncertainty of waiting for a new sale. Really weird.

If truly underwater and they had to come up with money to sell and protect their credit somewhat... it depends on if something else happened. If they were going to file for bankruptcy anyway or couldn't come up with the money to sell, then they'd be better off with a foreclosure. However, all kinds of weird stuff has been going on lately in this market. If tnicks wants a large stripped contract there are some ok ones out there, but otherwise you just have to hope AKV doesn't stay inflated and hope to pick something up in the next recession.

It was a 160 point contract. The entire situation is pretty strange. I think they are going through a foreclosure and basically have zero money to bring to the table to settle the contract. The broker has no legal recourse since they had already deferred their commission and weren't holding onto any of the sellers money. So they basically walk away at the risk of being sued for money they don't have. If the prices do not fall on these contracts, I likely see us not owning DVC because of this ordeal. We'll keep our eyes peeled. Very disheartening though.

And....Disney took it. Just received notice. Bummed, but will not be discouraged

I am honestly surprised by this one. It doesn't seem like it is too low per point, and it was partially stripped. Maybe they need December SSR points for some reason. :confused3

Yep, me too. There really is no rhyme or reason to ROFR. You win some you lose some.

That's a bummer. It happened to us last month on BCV. Others with different use years passed at the same cost per point. We finally found another one today (different resort). Hoping it passes.

Yeah, we have gone to ROFR on 8 contracts. We now own 5 of them, one the sellers cancelled on us and one got taken by the mouse.....the 8th just passed ROFR. Pretty decent results. But you never know how it's gonna go.

NJMamaMouse---$111-$21312-160-BLT-Mar-0/16, 138/17, 160/18- sent 5/30, passed 6/2

Apparently mine passed on Friday but the email went to my JunkMail...lol

WhooHOO!!!

Wow, that is a tie for the fastest turn around for ROFR I've ever heard of! Amazing! I'm excited for you. I hope estoppel goes quick as well. I'm on day 21 of the estoppel wait, so I'm hoping we get closing docs soon.

Wow, so sorry with this turn of events for you. I can imagine you are disappointed. :sad1:
I know prices are up now, but not all of them, so I hope you can snag an even more perfect contract.

Hang in there. If you can be patient (easier said than done!), prices come down and more contracts are available in December and January. Hopefully that trend continues this year.
