ABCs of A Trip Worth Waiting For + PNWMM: P: A Practically Perfect Pacific NW Mouse Meet- pg. 26

As I mentioned earlier, I'm so sorry I haven't kept up here! I guess I can't imagine anyone keeping two TR's going at once, so I'm trained to look for one. And yours is in the Disney World TR section....I completely forgot this one! What can I say? I'm an idiot. Anyway, I'll try and catch up now.

I'm sure there are TRs out there of some closer friends that I don't even know about or haven't subbed in yet because I'm a doofus. I don't regularly scroll the list and most of the time join because I've gotten a PM (BatSignal), see it by accident in a siggie or someone mentions it. So don't feel badly. Remember, I just starred in Dumb and Dumber.

As for keeping up with 2 TRs- that was probably my Dumbest of them All moves. Especially now that work has picked up in a huge way.

I know the feeling. I drove through the neighborhood where I grew up in order to show the kids my old house a few years ago. It used to be a nice middle-class neighborhood. Now, my old yard is all dirt, my parents' precious rose bushes are long torn out and gone, and there is tin foil over the windows. We did not linger.

Makes me sad. But that picture right there made me even more sad. Wow.

Never heard of it.:confused3

You would not do well in Oregon.

Quoted for posterity.

Good, good.

Well...good thing I packed nothing but sweatpants!

I wasn't mentally prepared for this, and had only gotten a little sleep the night before. And was up at 2:00AM Cali time. So by that night, I was dead tired.

More Disney connections! Glad to see Imagineers did their homework!

I know! I really missed my calling.

That's about as close as I'll get to it, too.

Me too, sadly.

I'm happy to leave it there.:rolleyes1

I wasn't a fan either. Totally detracted from the overall theming of the original intent of the park.

Not expecting any visits from the pizza guy?

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Not anytime soon, anyway.

Liesa?

Wake up.

Captain_Oblivious: Shatterer of All Dreams

:woohoo: A DISMeet before the DISMeet! Those Canadians are so nice.

They are!

Oh, look! Krill!

:lmao:

Yes, please! I miss Mr. Toad at WDW. Still stunned that a Disney ride ends with a literal visit to hell.

One of the more bizarre storylines they picked up and ran with. But entertaining nonetheless.

That's because your readers are uniformly polite, upstanding people.:rolleyes1

Oh, well, yours are too.

For the most part. I mean, I can't speak for myself, but....

You wouldn't know that from the way people order coffee in there. I still don't speak Starbucks.

Mine is 100% consistent. A 16oz. tepid latte. The end. Done. 4.5 seconds to order.

party: Now there's a cool group of people! Alison makes for a wonderful Fairy Godmother around DL.

::yes::::yes::::yes::

@GoofyFan1515 shouldn't deface Disney property like that.

:rotfl:

Maybe the two on the left.

 Fight, fight, fight!

Whatever justifies it is acceptable.

I stubbed my toe. The only thing that will console me is a trip.

Those ice spheres are just the coolest thing ever. I want one of those machines. I don't even care if I only use the sphere in glasses of water.

Need. I'm sure Amazon has one.

Still convinced this is the biggest secret to the success of Disney parks. Life is better with a soundtrack.

Agreed! Sometimes I goober out and actually sit and listen to loops when I"m on the DIS. The EPCOT Pavilion ones are awesome.

I should be thanking you for this! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Don't expect them to speed up anytime soon either. Life is.... full.

That whole lifting and pushing the button got ya stumped, huh?

Small hand.... awkward phone.

Good! See? You did in fact have a good time.

Of course I had a good time! How could I not?! Disney, Friends, Good Food, Great weather.... found camera.

 Didn't show, though.
You must've done good with the cleaning up.

Had to. People get twitchy when they see white powder where it doesn't belong these days.

:lmao:

But you're still younger.

Not by much, Sir.

The top of the gazebo?
Why is that important?

:rolleyes2

No!
When was that?

No me! The time I almost plowed into that lady with stroller cuz my head was in the clouds and you so nicely averted a ramming with a re-steering.

I don't remember now. (No notes, remember?)

But I think it was around a dozen.

An even dozen too many!

I meant the self-serve rock by the river.

I've done FAAAAAAAR more than my share of hand washing over the bathtub when the power was out with a washboard, thanks.

I told you, they'd get you another.

You are always right.

 cheese trumps alcohol?

I find that hard to believe!

Well, yeah! Wait, ok, they are.... equal. Yes, equal.

Actually, I was genuinely confused.
"I thought she wasn't a fan of Illuminations..."

Glad to clear up any confusion I've created. It's a habit, so....

Pretty much. Just waiting for the money now.
Although there's a hitch... :sad2:

Isn't there always. Ran into a massive hitch with our own home sale today. Ingrates want a new roof.

You're favourite activity!!

:rolleyes2

One of many.

OH, that kind of (non) favourite.

Nice. I'd love to see that.

Maybe someday.

Me too. I've been to Zion and Mesa Verde, and many other SW places, but never Arches.

Oh! Nice!
It lasts that long? Wow.

The Meet is only Saturday, but I"m traveling Friday, and traveling Sunday. Then visiting my SIL in Olympia Mon and I am going to see Brian Ferry on Tuesday.

Right. I knew about that one.
Have I told you that I'm coming yet?

No?

Well I am!

(If the invite's still open.)

Ummm...... you ARE?!?!

Of course the invitation stands. For ANYONE. My folks are super excited to have anyone join in. Lasagna dinner is planned!

Of course it's a beignet. What else could it possibly be???

I have no idea, but you 2 had something in mind.

What??? I'm outta here!

Wait....
My next update will be pretty much the same...

<sheepishly sticks around>

Good, because it does get better. MUCH better. :)

That's what we love about you.

Awww, thanks. :goodvibes

Not Dumb. Tired? Possibly. But Dumb? Nah.

Hmmm, I get dumb when I get tired?

I wouldn't know.
One perk to being a shift worker is not having every Monday be a workday.

Mind you, the corollary to that is not every Sunday is a day of rest.

I don't know how you do it. :confused3

Not nearly as much as you might be worried about.

jk.

<takes a quick sniff>

pfft.
I was relying on you for details.
My tale will be brief and dull.

I only remember I went with carb load of hashbrowns and gravy.

oh... no...

I even know the story, but I'm still on pins and needles!

And cringing!

OH trust me, it got better, then worse, then much better, and believe it or not.... worse again.

Oh, man.
I would've done the same as you.
Called 'em... and assumed it was gone.

Oh, you would've....

OH WAIT! You DID!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

This cracks me up.

Ever heard the term "A dream within a dream?"
How about an error within an error.

The previous post thinking it was Enterprise?

You thought it was National! (see next quote)

:sad2:

Unbelievable. Although, I'll have to say, it was really pretty irrelevant to the story. But you never know. Someone may actually be paying attention, (other than the one Detail Nazi I have) and rented a car with the sole purpose of using that company of returning to it DTD. I'd hated to have steered them wrong, but after all my blunderings, I probably did anyway. Sorry, Readers!!!!!

No. I imagine a few choice words might have been spoken.

Ummm, possibly.

Whoa. We're up to 28 years and 14 hours since breakfast.
You must've been starved!

I looked a lot like this when I picked up my camera:

latest

They're everywhere...

Be afraid. Be very afraid.... or annoyed.

Annoyed, perturbed, irked, exasperated.....

Just in the nick of time. You must've been so happy to see your gear.. all of it, I mean. Not just an empty camera bag.
Or hadn't that thought occurred to you?

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

NO!! I hadn't. I'd have died.

Are you retracting one of your 14 years or adding to it?

We all know how well I do math. So, I will not comment on that... I"m too busy trying to make heads or tails out of crap like this, so I can pass my written exam. Having never taken physics and nearly failing algebra a million years ago and the math for Nursing School even more recently, I'm overloaded (pun intended) with trying to digest this.

and,

EXAMPLE

Given:

Aircraft Total Weight

7,800 lb

CG

Station 81.5

Aft CG Limit

80.5

Determine how much cargo must be shifted from the aft cargo compartment at station 150 to the forward cargo compartment at station 30 to move the CG to exactly the aft limit.

Solution:

Weight to be Shifted/Total Weight=

ΔCG/Distance weight is shifted

Weight to be Shifted/7,800=

1.0 in/120 in

Weight to be Shifted=

65 lb

I'm doomed.

No floor show like I had? Watching a mom at the next table go all Witchipoo when food is not brought out right or in a timely manner and actually goes to the kitchen to retrieve it was priceless. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

No, that was a "special" dinner show just for you.

Hey, me too! Except the exploding helicopters. I actually make those up.

:scared1:

You do!?!?

But you make it sound so.... believable. I had no idea!

Just when I think you can't possibly get any dumber, you go and do something like this....
...and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!

Sorry, couldn't help but quote the movie.

Thank Goodness for Google.

That's just impossible. Never happens.

You'd be surprised at what is possible. I mean, I raised 5 kids in Crapistan, and they all lived.

But he's going to make me guess what he ordered for breakfast.

I can be bought for a price. Let's make a deal...

Yes! I call it "parenthood".

:rotfl2:

Wow. What are the odds?

Same, same. It's been ages since I've permanently left/lost something; been pretty lucky all things considered. I think it was about 3 years ago I lost a nice black leather jacket somewhere. That one actually made me very sad.

Oh no! I feel you on this. That sinking feeling when you know it's gone.

he quality is decidedly suckier, but photography isn't a hurry-up-and-do-it kind of hobby. Phones work in a pinch.

So true. I used the cell phone to help mark where I was too, so I wouldn't forget.

Sounds like a delightful plan! Haven't been to LA or NOLA since January, 2000. Cafe DuMonde did not disappoint.

You need another trip to Cafe Du Monde and a side trip to Pat O's.

A little Real Life Update- you know, to keep us all connected on a personal level.

So...

I wear many hats. I'm a Nurse, a Student Pilot, a Mom, etc...

but last weekend, as some of you who read the small print may have seen, I am now the proud owner of a new hat.

My oldest son and his wife are expecting. They live in Guam, so I won't see this baby nearly as much as I'd like or be able to help out Emily and Andrew in their transition to parenthood either. I now understand the great sacrifice my own parents made while we tried to make a difference overseas. If you don't appreciate the sacrifices our servicemen and women make every day, or those who are called to live and work far from home to do Community Development or Aid work, remember this story and re-think.

Baby is due Dec. 3rd. We had hoped to visit there this winter, but since we are in this transition phase of selling our rental property to swap out for something closer to where we live, times are a bit lean. My income is supplementing instead of being play money for the time being. Which sux, but there ya have it.

Regardless, I am beyond thrilled for them and am excited to enter a new phase of life, in some ways. On the flip side, I had a few days of having to let this all sink in. I suddenly went from feeling fabulous and on top of my game at 50, to.... old. I've processed that, and am back to feeling fabulous at 50 again.

One request: This is not public news yet on FB. So for those of you who know me there, please keep this mum for now. They are waiting on her next appt. (I think tomorrow) before they make their own general announcement. Most in our family know now, but there are a few who don't yet. You heard it here first.

Meantime, I'm gearing up a bit of time with my mom and dad and some solo vacationing of my own. Needs to get me some time away. :) So, I will be a bit scarce from the 21st- the 1st.
Hopefully, at least one more update to both TRs, though.

So, any grandparents doing the long-distance thang? How are you handling this? Give me your thoughts.

Peace, My Friends,

Steppe

What a relief that you were able to get your camera bag back. I would go insane as well if I can't find it. I always make sure I go through my car rental after I leave it.

Congrats to the new member of your family later this year.

As for keeping up with 2 TRs- that was probably my Dumbest of them All moves. Especially now that work has picked up in a huge way.

Exactly why I didn't do it.
I knew I didn't want to put myself in that position.

But kudos to you for doing it.

 Fight, fight, fight!

Nah. I agree with him 100%.

Possibly the only time, but there ya go.

Need. I'm sure Amazon has one.

Small hand.... awkward phone.

Better than the reverse.

Of course I had a good time! How could I not?! Disney, Friends, Good Food, Great weather.... found camera.

:goodvibes

Had to. People get twitchy when they see white powder where it doesn't belong these days.

Like under your nose?

How did we get back onto the coke finger conversation?????

No me! The time I almost plowed into that lady with stroller cuz my head was in the clouds and you so nicely averted a ramming with a re-steering.

Well, we couldn't have that, now could we?

I've done FAAAAAAAR more than my share of hand washing over the bathtub when the power was out with a washboard, thanks.

I thought you might have.

You are always right.

You spelled "wrong" wrong.

Well, yeah! Wait, ok, they are.... equal. Yes, equal.

Ah HA!!!

Glad to clear up any confusion I've created. It's a habit, so....

Nah. You're usually pretty easy to understand. Once in a while I get confused (okay... I get confused a lot) but that's my fault, not yours.

Isn't there always. Ran into a massive hitch with our own home sale today. Ingrates want a new roof.

Hmm... how about a pool? Can you put in a pool too? Maybe a couple of Corvettes in the garage?

The Meet is only Saturday, but I"m traveling Friday, and traveling Sunday. Then visiting my SIL in Olympia Mon and I am going to see Brian Ferry on Tuesday.

Oh! Got it.

So you're saying that wouldn't be the best time to pop in for those egg rolls you make.

Of course the invitation stands. For ANYONE. My folks are super excited to have anyone join in. Lasagna dinner is planned!

Lasagna??? Why didn't you say so! I would've said yes a lot sooner!

I have no idea, but you 2 had something in mind.

Nope. Not me. What do you mean, Liesa?

Good, because it does get better. MUCH better. :)

I'm sure of that.

Hmmm, I get dumb when I get tired?

 I didn't say that!

I don't know how you do it. :confused3

Neither do I.
I'm too tired to figure it out.

<takes a quick sniff>

:lmao:

verdict?

I only remember I went with carb load of hashbrowns and gravy.

Oh, that's right!

So... umm.... what did I have?

OH trust me, it got better, then worse, then much better, and believe it or not.... worse again.

Hmmm... I know some of that... Standing by!

Oh, you would've....

OH WAIT! You DID!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl: I did! Didn't I!

But you never know. Someone may actually be paying attention, (other than the one Detail Nazi I have)

You do know I'm part German, right?

But I'm sure you were referring to someone else.

Probably @franandaj

I'd hated to have steered them wrong, but after all my blunderings, I probably did anyway. Sorry, Readers!!!!!

Right now, thousands of readers are sitting in their National car rentals trying to return them to Alamo.

I looked a lot like this when I picked up my camera:

You had a red bandana on?

NO!! I hadn't. I'd have died.

So glad I didn't mention it to you.

We all know how well I do math. So, I will not comment on that...

See? Not dumb... smart!

I'm overloaded (pun intended)

Nice one. ;)

Hmmm... I'd need more details before I can say one way or the other.
Doesn't look too bad, though.

Going to say Congrats on this thread too !! As for that math, I got a headache reading it , my answer would be who cares :rotfl2: Which is what I told my math teacher about one triangle equaling another !! :rotfl2: To this day I have never needed to know that

As someone who was much better in math & science in school, it's funny how the complaints about these problems echo my own problems with English class. I'd read a passage about a character contemplating a pig in a butcher shop, killed in his prime to be a meal for others. What does this animal symbolize? What is the meaning to our protagonist?

And I'd shrug my shoulders and say, "I dunno. The guy's probably hungry and thinking, 'Mmm....bacon.'"

And you'd be right.

If there's one thing I learned in University.... is that there are a lot of "professors" out there who don't know sh** from shinola and try to cover that up by coming up with more and more preposterous explanations and theories.

"The author is contemplating life's mosaic and his place in the pattern of creation."

Uh, no. I just thought it was a pretty sunset.

I am so embarrassingly behind on replies and have let both of my threads seem to rot. Yes, I realize the WDW one is beginning to bog down. But, I swear there are still some good things to come (Wanyama Tour at AKL, Behind the Seeds Tour, etc...) And this one is just getting started, except that life has taken a turn for the good, better, and best news which is keeping me busy.

So, for those of you who are on my other thread, you already know that I found out I'm gonna be a Gramma in December. Wahoooooooty!

You also know that my work hours have picked up exponentially.... and you know how that goes with DISsing. :guilty:

But, wait! There's more! For the low price (which is bullcrap, cuz it's actually a very steep price, but I think the benefits still outweigh the bad) of a night shift or 2 a week, you too can have an offer for a permanent part-time position!!! (I have been working per diem until now.) But that's not all, if you accept now, you can have a pay raise (differential for nights) and benefits including PTO! I told them I'd let them know by early this week.

So, working more... LOTS more, and trying to get ready for my upcoming trip, Ground School for my Private Pilot's License, and trying to get more than Kraft Mac and Cheese on the table each night, I'm slammed. But, I did work on photos for the next update tonight a bit.

Yes, yes, I know I'm also embarrassingly behind on all y'all's threads too, and I WILL get there! I promise. I have Thursday off and my plan is to not only pack for my trip, but catch up then as well. I'm gonna get there!!! I will!

You all are the bomb diggity!

Carry on....

How exciting! You have a lot going on. First off congrats about the new impending baby arrival! Having not experienced it myself, I have been told that there is nothing like being a grandparent. I know you know how awesome my mother was with Nemo, and how much she loved sharing the world and World with him. I'm sure you'll be just as awesome with this kiddo, and please. It only makes you more fabulous. :thumbsup2

I totally understand that sinking feeling you got when you realized your camera was gone. I had a similar experience once, and it's the kind of story that sort of reaffirms faith in humanity. I was in Italy, and I had just graduated from college. I went with an organized group run by two of my art professors, and I had a blast. One night we were at a vineyard for tasting and dinner and I decided to buy a box of wine and have it shipped home.

Can you see where this is going?

In all the excitement of the evening, in which we may or may not have encouraged our youngest group member to drink his grappa like a shot instead of sipping it, I forgot my credit card at the vineyard. Now because this was a tour, we weren't going back to that place. We had a schedule and an agenda, and I didn't realize it was gone until the next day. My heart dropped into my stomach. This was my one credit card, and even though I had cash to use, a credit card is not something you want to lose in a foreign country.

I called the vineyard and in some combination of broken Italian and English managed to ask about my card. They had retained it and set it aside. And they had a French tour group coming through, and the leader of that group offered to hold on to my card and meet me the next day because as luck would have it (and I was one very lucky girl), they would be in the same place we would. Let me tell you, my friend, that the only language I took in high school? Was four years of French.

I waited exactly where I was told to, and do you know, that gentleman took time out from leading his huge tour to find me and give me my card? No crazy charges on it, no foul play of any kind. Just someone helping someone else and doing the right thing. It's really amazing when you think about it. I was so lucky. Had to share. :goodvibes

(Wanyama Tour at AKL, Behind the Seeds Tour, etc...)

Spoiler alert!

So, for those of you who are on my other thread, you already know that I found out I'm gonna be a Gramma in December. Wahoooooooty!

::yes:: And congrats again!

You also know that my work hours have picked up exponentially.... and you know how that goes with DISsing. :guilty:

 No worries. Life first. DIS second.

Nice! Congratulations on that too! Well deserved!

I'm slammed. But, I did work on photos for the next update tonight a bit.

Well, there you go! Progress! :)

Yes, yes, I know I'm also embarrassingly behind on all y'all's threads too, and I WILL get there! I promise. I have Thursday off and my plan is to not only pack for my trip, but catch up then as well. I'm gonna get there!!! I will!

I can't speak for anyone else, but don't worry about mine. No rush.
Heck, you've already won the contest so you don't have to worry about any updates.

Well congratulations on the job offer!

Don't worry about what's going on here, real life is more important. Things here aren't going anywhere and they'll all be here when you find time.

Have a great trip and we'll catch you when you get back.

Congratulations on your perminant job offer.Atleast it is a regular income.Enjoy your upcoming trip the board's can wait until you have the time again to post.
