Stop using flash!

Goodness, I'm sure this has been a "thing" for awhile, but the flash photography was out of control on our trip this past week. Someone was taking pictures of the screen during Soarin and then I actually said something on Frozen to someone in the front of the boat who had his phone light on while doing a video recording of the ride.

It didn't ruin my trip or my day, but dang if it isn't annoying! :scared:

It amazes me that people need to photograph so many things that already have great pictures online. Like when people hold up phones & iPads to record firework shows. Come on- you can see all of those on You Tube, quite nicely filmed.

People need to put their gadgets down for a few minutes and enjoy real life experiences. And not ruin things for other guests.

I've actually been asking and waiting for front row at dark rides such as Pirates to not have someone right in front of you constantly flashing or recording. and I try to move away from the iPad recorders at the finishing shows. It's tougher to see around that big screen. I sometimes feel bad asking them to not to use flash because they should be able to commemorate. But I remind myself that especially if we've waited a really long time for the attraction, it's distracting for the others... and they should be able to enjoy the rides too. And it is disney policy not to use flash on the dark rides.

Many folks:
A. Have no idea that their flash is actually on.
B. Have no idea that it's even an option to turn it off.
C. Have no idea HOW to turn it off.

Then put the cameraphone away!

As Shanti said, there's already pretty good videos online for most of the rides and shows. (not referring specifically to you Robo, but) what makes your video a unique snowflake? Is it only because you took it? You'll probably never view it after a week, so put the camera away and enjoy the now!

I believe c but not a or b. A- it's pretty obvious. B- lots of places prohibit flash so I think most people know the function exists.

(But c- I've shown my mother how to do it a few times a month and she still forgets.)

How bout d: people are too lazy to turn auto off. Or don't realize what auto does.

It just needs more patrolling by Disney doing tannoy announcements when people use flash, I'm sure they have CCTV on all the dark rides don't they?

This. I remind DD often that she can google images she wants, because I would rather she experience them firsthand vs. behind her phone.

How can you tell someone how to enjoy their experiences? Some people very much enjoy documenting their experiences as they happen. We are all different.

Disney has to control it. Stop the ride, send a CM out, take the device, and tell them they can exit with it or pick it up at Guest Services.

The simply answer is that you can't fix stupid. People have no clue how horrible flash pictures turn out unless done by professionals in perfect situations.

This. As someone who enjoys photography as a hobby, I very much love it when I get my OWN shots of the fireworks, because I know I took them. If I'm not using the flash (which would be stupid with fireworks anyway), then nobody else should be worrying about what I'm doing, and should be minding their own selves.

I don't take ride photos usually, and if I do, I use the night shot function on my camera because I want accurate photos, not a washed out version because the flash killed the effects.

Believe it or not, there ARE some of us who take photos and actually know how to do so appropriately.

Then again, I don't usually use my phone in place of a real camera because I would rather have the nicer photos my camera can produce.

this will never happen. Imagine how many times a ride would have too be stopped. And when a ride is stopped it's not that simple to restart it. Lines would be super long

I know it will never happen. What they can do is use sensors to track vehicles that used flash, identify the culprits, and as the exit stop them.

One hundred times this. I live in the Washington, DC area and when we're at the zoo or one of the museums and people are holding other people up to take a picture of, I don't know, a zebra, I just want to say, "Let me tell you about a secret website that will show you millions of pictures of zebras in about .1 seconds. In fact, thousands of pictures of this very zebra, and most better than the picture you're taking! It's called...shh... google images....."

If your kid or family is in the picture, I get it, but do you need to take a picture of just the Washington Monument?!?!
