Hi

We got our membership after April 2016 so we don't qualify for membership extras.

Nonetheless I booked the moonlight magic for AK in sept. The reservation page nor confirmation says anything about that it's a membership extra event. If I lookup some of the other benefits I.e access to the member lounge at Epcot which states that it's a membership extra thing'.

The only thing the reservation page do say is that a membership card is required. Other times when a membership card had been required I just showed my electronic membership card and that was enough.

Can I therefore assume that we can get in?

TIA

I can't comment on whatever web pages you were looking at but when it comes to perks like this, DVC has been pretty consistent in including the language about Membership Extras being for direct buyers only. That's certainly their intention with regard to this perk and nearly all others going forward.

That said, they will have check-in points at the DVC resorts. IDs are checked, wristbands are distributed and that's sufficient to get thru the gate at park. I'd recommend trying to check-in at your resort. If they accept the digital card and give you wristbands, you're all set. If they don't, you won't have any recourse but at least you won't have invested much time in it (no trip over to AK, etc.)

I agree on most offers that Disney mention that it's part of their membership extra. In this case they don't mention anything about it.

I got the info from here:https://disneyvacationclub.disney.g...vents/moonlight-magic-disneys-animal-kingdom/

Was curious cause I've always seen that that membership benefits/extras blurb....reading all the way to the bottom paragraph ....where it starts off "you should not purchase" ..last sentence says membership extras are not available to resale purchases effective 4/4/16

Right, it's at the bottom of that page linked...and pretty much every page under the perks & benefits section of the website:

To receive any Membership Extras, purchasers must present a valid Disney Vacation Club Membership Card along with a corresponding valid photo ID. Disney and Concierge Collections options are not available for ownership interests not purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. after March 21, 2011, and, effective April 4, 2016, Members who do not purchase an ownership interest directly from Disney Vacation Development Inc. will not have access to Membership Extras.

I'll also add that it doesn't surprise me that restaurant staff or store clerks would accept the ineligible digital ID card for discounts. However, people passing out the Moonlight Magic wristbands will be a little more knowledgable.

Thanks thought I understood it correctly....maybe it's just me but if I know I don't qualify for a benefit I don't try to get it anyway...but I'm old school..lol

Basically, the only perks that post 4/4/2016 resale purchasers are eligible for are: TOTWL, Pool Hopping & DVD Rentals.

True. So it comes down to if something is a perk or not?. The new offer for tix buy 5 days get 7. That's also available to post April buyers not only pre April buyers.

From the AK Moonlight Magic registration page:

"This offer is part of Membership Extras. New purchasers after April 4, 2016, must purchase directly from Disney to have access to Membership Extras."

Where on the page which I linked to did you find that?

Well, it's in the footer of the page you linked. And just because you want to dismiss it doesn't mean that DVC agrees.

It's also the last item on the actual event registration page, which has to be acknowledged when signing up to attend.

Thanks.

I actually had forgot all about that, still find it odd that DVC include the "membership extra" wording on some events and exclude it from others when it still applies.

I will try and checkin to the event at my resort before going to AK.

Thanks for the help clarifying.

the section that tjkraz posted of the agreement when registering for the tickets, makes it clear that, unfortunately, you are not eligible for this event. As disappointing as it is, the right thing to do would be to cancel the tickets, allowing others who are eligible to register for the tickets. If you wait until the night of to confirm you don't qualify, those tickets won't be available to eligible members who are hoping that additional tickets will be released by people deciding not to go.

Last year I had to present my blue membership card for admission. I suppose you could always try, but I wouldn't hold my breath. (same goes for everyone trying to defeat me in whack-a-dino or whatever it's called. You can try, but you will not defeat the whack-a-mole master!)
