Neighbors.....are you kidding me??

?? I don't know ANYONE that only has one car per house- most have at least one car per person, some more than one.

1 car, 2 people but, than we ARE retired, and YOU don't know me! Just kidding...

Seriously, we have not always had 2 cars. We do know a few families with only 1 car, they have a few bicycles, and bus passes.

2 small seperate issues:

The neighbor behind us had no curtain for the first 6 months after their move in on the HUGE bathroom window. I even said something to them finally and they barely blinked an eye. The final straw was seeing the hairy husband naked on the pot. I wanted to lose my lunch!:crazy2: They finally covered it about 2 weeks ago thank goodness!

There was a fountain installed in the neighborhood pond. After an HOA meeting and approval of the whole thing someone stated they had PTSD and could not take the noise. We have now had the police do a noise check in people's homes, a specialist in PTSD come talk at the HOA meeting, petitions flying around, emails from the board, rogue emails from angry home owners, etc... it's a hot mess! My part is staying out of it.

I also live on a dead end street and everyone is usually very quiet.
The guy next door lets his dog out about 5 during the week before he heads off to work. Only sometimes does he bark and make noise.
Being in AZ, people are usually inside during the summer or in pools.
Landscapers, road work, etc. start at 6 during the week because of the heat, but on the weekends the landscapers are usually around 8. The people across the street that ran the lawn mower at 5:30 on a Sat. were the exception. That was the first time they did that, and hopefully the last. Otherwise my street is really good.
Reading all these replies, glad my neighbors are so quiet ::yes::

For the car issue, everyone on my street has at least 2 cars per house. All park in garages or driveways. We never have cars on the street unless someone has company over. We are retired, 2 of us, and we have 2 cars. I would never want to be without a car.

I live on a very quiet cul-de-sac with great neighbors, except for one house! They have people coming and going all the time, including, on occasion at 3am, when a couple of them will come over and drink in the middle of the cul-de-sac, play basketball, and get into fights. Let me tell you, if you haven't been woken up by drunks playing basketball at 3am you haven't lived!!!!

They also have multiple small children living there, and they are constantly playing in the middle of the cul-de-sac, which is ok, we just drive very slowly, except that the 'adults' in charge seem to think that it is ok for these children to lie down and sit on the pavement, it is very difficult to see a small child sitting in the middle of the road, no matter how slowly one is driving. They also allow their children to ride their bikes and scooters around wildly, including in and out of the piles of yard waste that we have collected in neat piles along our roads, as that is how they are collected by the city, so all of that waste becomes strewn over the streets.

I used to live in a large house that was broken into 5 apartments. We had guys across from us for awhile that would roll in around 3:00am from a party, and then blast their stereo - mid week! I once remember being woken up from a deep sleep by Madonna at 120 decibels & nearly wetting the bed. We were glad to see them leave.

Just moved into our first apartment with SO. Our neighbors above us never sleep. They constantly stomp around, move furniture, and blast their music. Even thru the night. Got woken up in the middle of the night this week when it sounded like they were literally going to fall thru our ceiling.

We also came home to a note on our door Monday that our dog was barking all day and being a nuisance. Our dog almost never barks, so we set up a camera while we were gone and she barked for all of like 8 minutes total Tuesday-Friday while we were at work. Ugh.

We are somewhat new to az. I am shocked by the green parks, numerous plants and trees, even water features. I too thought we were in a desert but it doesn't look that way in our community! We moved from a place that knew it was in a drought. We had limits on days /times you could water. We had very few trees. I'm really surprised how green az is.

My neighbors have a pool which they use almost daily during the Summer. That's not the problem, the problem is the kids scream as if they're being murdered, for hours, while outside. Where their pool is, the sound echoes through my back porch and it's impossible to even hold a conversation when I invite friends over for a cookout. Thankfully school is back in session so I can use my porch during the day but on weekends, like right now, forget it.

They have grass lawns in Arizona? I though the whole state was a desert and the reservoirs like Lake Mead are running out of water?

People can have grass and yards with plants......the urban areas are very green. Outside that, there are vast amounts of desert that looks like desert ;)
So, yes, we are in a desert, but have the plants and trees if you are willing to plant them and maintain them

We might be guilty of that. DGD is very loud when swimming.....well, loud all the time. We only have one next door neighbor though, the ones with the dog, so I am fine with it. She is only 4 and only over 1-2 times a week to use the pool

To me, the sounds of kids laughing and splashing and playing in the pool is comforting. Neighbors to our east, both on our side of the street and on the opposite side, have inflatable pools, and the kids have been playing in them all summer. I don't even notice it any more.

My neighbors always complain about the lack of street parking. They all have 2 or 3 cars per house. If you got rid of your cars our neighborhood really wouldn't have a parking problem. Do you really need more than 1 car per house?
Yes.....? We have 5 drivers in our house. 5 cars.

I thought you were running out of water down there? Last time I checked Lake Mead was only 38% full and going down every year.

We have plenty of water in Seattle and yet the public utility is constantly sending us mailers urging us to cut our water use. They keep pushing people to get rid of all the landscaping like grass that sucks up water and plant drought tolerant plants. It is really crazy since the drainage basin where our reservoir is gets 200+ inches of rain a year. I would think they would want us to use more water???

Laughing and playing I have no issue with. Loud, blood-curdling screaming all day to the point *I* can't use *my* yard? Yes, I have a huge issue with that.

Well, right now my yard is flooded from the monsoon that hit last night.
Not sure about Lake Mead, but we have not even been told to conserve water.
Almost everyone's sprinklers are on timers, so I don't even notice it.

I lived north of Seattle for over 30 years, not Seattle, so that might make a difference.
Never watered the lawn, the rain did it for me.

Oh dear goodness yes. Our neighborhood has a home-based daycare a few houses over and one of the kids there is a SCREEEEEEEEEEEEAMER. That's his MO: screech and scream as loud as he possibly can on purpose. Ohhhhhhhh... words cannot describe...

Other than that, my neighbors are all mostly chill. When our next-door neighbor sold his place, I insisted he pay 1/3 of the cost of a brand-new 8 foot wooden privacy fence that we hired the contractors for. He sold the house in a few weeks and the new owners specifically said it was our investment in the fence that was the final decision - they knew we would be sane neighbors!!!! :D
