I have a dinner ADR the evening of our arrival for Ohana. Our flight out just got moved up by airline so our flight departs 5:50am. I'm guessing kids will be exhausted after such an early start to our travel day. Before I cancel our ADR I just want to confirm that we can still order twilight feast in room. This will be for early December trip. Thanks so much!
Yes

Hi, all. Quick question regarding the sliding doors for either balcony or patio rooms. Anyone have any concerns with the safety of the locking system for young kids? We have a 2 and 5 year-old. Thanks!

I agree with @Ferrentinos above. Between the lower and upper lock, I feel totally comfortable with my little ones.

Morning! Quick question...Hubby and I are celebrating our 20th in May at the Polynesian. We booked a standard view. I REALLY would love a King bed with either a patio or balcony. I realize it's only a request :sunny: I looked at Touring Plans but still not 100% sure. What would you suggest a good bldg. and floor # would be. Thanks so much!

I would word your request as "King Room" and "1st or 3rd floor".

We just got back last night from our trip and I thought I would share a few notes from the Poly.

*We were in room 1705 in Niue - it was the corner room facing the little fake grass lawn where they show the movies. This room wasn't our first choice and they were actually going to move us after the first night to a King room, but we realized we love the location so much that we just stayed in this room for the entire trip.
*Our room was very clean and no real wear and tear on the furniture. Mousekeeping was excellent - the room was cleaned and made up every day before we got back from the parks.
*Transportation was great. We took the boat back and forth to MK, for Epcot we too the monorail from the Poly a couple times and we walked to the TTC a couple times. The only bus we took was to Disney Springs.
*We spent quite a bit of time at the Oasis pool. My DH liked that it opened at 7 because he was able to go down for a quick hot tub soak in the mornings before we headed out. Only on our last day was the hot tub not working at opening. The bar tenders at the Oasis bar were all so friendly and helpful.
*We tried to use the Minnie Van service one night to go to The Yacht Club for dinner and never could get a driver to pick up, so we ended up taking a regular taxi. It was disappointing because they are really advertising this service hard. The manager that was over Bell Services told us that lots of guests were having the same experience we did since they opened the service up to all resorts, they just don't have enough cars/drivers for the demand.
*The only real negative we experienced is that there seems to be some drainage issues. One evening it rained really hard and the walkways around the resort were flooded pretty badly - we had to wade through ankle deep water to get from Niue to the GCH for dinner that night.

We have a full day reservation for an Oasis pool patio and a half day (3-7). I know the pool is open past 7, so who is allowed to use them after 7? Are they open to anyone after that time? Thanks!

Did anyone answer your question? Sorry if I missed it. They are first come, first served after 7pm.

Random note. I had both a full and half day rental on a couple of days this past long weekend. I had the WORST time actually using it because I could not keep DD out of the Lava Pool kids splash area. Both kids decided they were ‘too cool’ for Oasis. :headache::headache::headache:

It ended up being rather impractical for us on this particular trip. Hope you have better luck!

We ended up cancelling ours for later this week for the same reason. Maybe we'll try again on an adults only trip!

Haha! :rotfl:

It’s so funny, in the past we’ve been able to spend all day at Oasis and the kids could splash around and be just fine. This time DD decided to be “all in” on the splash area, including the bigger slide there, so nothing else would suit her! Ahh, kids.

Your trip is soon - hope you have a good one!

Thank you - it is soon, we arrive on Thursday :)

My youngest is still content to swim anywhere (splash area, main pool or Oasis) but DD9 only wants the volcano slide now. Sigh. Kids!!!!

Speaking of the Oasis Pool.... they have recently tinkered with the Oasis Grill setup, unfortunately to the negative in my opinion. The walk-up order window is no longer open, you have to sit at the bar/tables/pool chairs to be served.

The CM said they did this about a month ago. On my days there was only one bartender and one server walking around, which led to very slow service (and there was only one other table seated???).

They have also changed the preparation for the salads, which used to be my absolute favorite. I got two different salads on two different days and they were both rather gross - cheaper ingredients, loaded with dressing, the chicken appeared to be out of the bag/not fresh. Perhaps just a bad couple of days in the kitchen, but I left disappointed. The Oasis Salad had been my ‘go to’ since this place opened.

But on the positive side, for the first time in what seems like forever, the fireworks music around the beach area was nice and LOUD! Like almost blowing out the speakers. On prior trips I’ve found the volume to be inconsistent and sometimes you’d need to be pretty close to a ground speaker to hear anything at all. They have definitely made a conscious decision to turn the volume up for the fireworks, at least at the moment. As always, YMMV!

I watched from here one night, so pretty much right by the water fence. The audio was fantastic here, which used to not always be the case.

Also a new addition was added at some point during my stay....

The poles were up when I arrived but no net. They added the net sometime over the weekend - it has a nice Poly theme on it.

Current Lava Pool hours are in the pic below, 10AM—9PM

Oasis Pool continues to be 7AM-11PM. Interestingly, you no longer need to scan your MBs to get in the Oasis Pool. They installed those “pull up” plastic child-proof things on each gate, the kind you see at many pools these days. The MB scanners are there but they don’t operate the gates. You still need you MB to enter the Lava Pool, same as before.

Anybody stay in a DVC studio recently and notice if there is a corkscrew in the kitchenette? We will be there next week for our first Poly stay and have a grocery order with wine, and I want to be certain I'll actually be able to open it. I'll throw a wine opener in our bag if necessary but would be awesome if it was one less thing I had to worry about remembering. Thanks in advance!

We’ve always stayed in the standard rooms so idk about DVC, but Samoa Snacks (next to Moana Mercantile) will usually let you borrow a corkscrew if they don’t have one in the rooms. We’ve done it several times and they really don’t care how long you keep it - it’s kind of like the honor system. The front desk could also probably get heir hands on one for you.

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a nice time (aside from the Minnie van service and drainage issue) :).

Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

You can always request one from housekeeping if there isn't.

We had to buy one upon arrival.
