Not the Wave for Breakfast?

I'm heading to WDW in March and have Boma's for dinner one night and the Wave for breakfast one morning. I've done Boma's for dinner plenty in the past and love it. I've never done the Wave though.

I was listening to the latest Dis Unplugged discussion (10/10/17) and they sounded completely unimpressed by the Wave.

Essentially I'm looking for a buffet breakfast that has a good amount hot options (I used to love Crystal Palace for breakfast when I was younger) but specifically is not character dining. If I could dine at the Crystal Palace in a special 'I-don't-want-to-talk-to-characters-before-my-morning-coffee' area that'd be perfect...

Should I swap the Wave for something else? Many people suggested Kona Cafe when I came here before for breakfast ideas, but it doesn't seem that it's a buffet? Unless I'm wrong in this? I looked at the Boma breakfast menu and it looked ok, but lacking in some of my favourite simple items; bacon, sausage and eggs.

Thanks in advance for your help! I love having a good buffet breakfast to look forward to for the mid-point in my trip!

We like The Wave for breakfast and dinner. Never had a bad experience there.

Thanks for the reply! The fact it's so easy to get to is something that appeals to me as I'll be relying solely on resort transportation.

We used to love the Wave for the buffet. About a yr or so ago, we went and it was disappointing. Three things that were biggies to us, changed

No butter ON the buffet. I had gotten the sweet potato pancakes .yum., but where is the butter. I need equal parts pancakes to pecan butter. Where or where did my pecan butter go?????? The server saw I had gotten pancakes and brought a trio of little dishes of about 2 pats of butter, 2 pats of pecan butter and 2 tablespoons of jelly for the two of usin Now if all three dishes had pecan butter, I'd be ok. Yes, I probably could have asked for more, but then there is the time delay. Cold butter on cold pancakes just don't do it.

In the past, they had huge bowls of strawberries, pineapples and perhaps another fruit of two. Now they had cups with 6 pieces of cantaloupe, one strawberry and two blueberries. We both dislike cantaloupe. I saw discarded cups of fruit on the buffet. People ate the strawberry and blueberries and left the cups with cantaloupe. Someone staffing the buffet came out and I ask, can I just get a plate with a few strawberries. She can back with about 5 nice size strawberries on a plate.

Smoked salmon , The used to have a tray of smoked salmon, now the had a pieice of toast (biscult, whatever) with a dab of this, a dab of that and a silver of salmon.

Might not sound like a lot, but it was enough for us to say goodby to the wave. But if you're happy with eggs and bacon, I think you'll be fine. We had gone back looking forward to the items mentioned and were disappointed.

We have eaten at CP and just told the server we didn't need to meet the the character. I believe they just walked by and waved. DH and I have an ADR for CP in Dec.

If you do want to do Crystal Palace, the characters are very understanding of people who aren't there to visit with them. We ate at Crystal Palace last week and there was a table of 4 adults by us that just did a little wave as the characters came to their table and then went back to their food. The characters didn't try to engage them - they just did a little wave back and went on to the next table.

Boma does do made to order Omelettes. Was just there this past May.
I was going to second Trail's End. Especially if you go on a weekend, they have Brunch instead of just breakfast that includes lunch options as well. Also a good "value" for Disney.
Kona is NOT a buffet option.
If you want to splurge, Narcoossee's brunch is amazing. A ton of food & even though it's not a buffet, it is all you care to eat.

We eat breakfast at the wave every trip. Love it! We don't eat the buffet, but I do always take a look at it and it looks great! Wonderful quiet place to start the day with a yummy meal.

I like the wave. It's not a huge buffet but it's nice, and if you have a special need just ask.

We are not fans of The Wave. We love in the MK area WCC at WL and Trail's End Buffet at FW. Boma at AKL is also a favorite.

We have always been underwhelmed by The Wave. Boma has an amazing breakfast buffet and is one of our favorites. Cape May Cafe is a solid breakfast buffet option and is a must do for our family. If you haven't gone to Cape May Cafe for breakfast I definitely recommend it!!!

The podcast isn't gospel. The Wave offers a popular and relatively affordable sit-down breakfast option. It is not the best breakfast on property, but it is a good one. And it is character-free which can be a huge plus.

We love the Boma buffet and do it on every trip for breakfast. Tons of options including the omelette station (or you can also request just eggs any way you like them and they will make them); they do have sausage and I'm pretty sure last time they had bacon too. It is an enormous buffet and once you add the house juice that we all love, we are fans for life.

I think the general consensus is that it's fine to good. We had a solid breakfast there. It's also one of the less expensive buffets. I will never knock that. Where are you staying? And which park are you going to? Convenience is also a factor.

I'll give jo-jo's review my take (and I in no way think hers is wrong for her). I hate butter of any sort on pancakes - so take that away, I will have no problem. I don't eat fruit at buffets - so I wouldn't even notice the change that she disliked. And smoked salmon? For me - ick. Once my husband left some smoked salmon on a plate on the counter. I walked into the kitchen and thought one of our cats had thrown up onto a plate. I gagged and tossed it. That's my response to smoked salmon. I don't even want it on the buffet. So for her - it's not a good choice anymore. For me - none of her objections would make me unhappy in the least.

Weren't some of the complaints on the podcast having to do with theming? Theming is fine, but ,for me, not essential to a meal. They do tend to get overly swept up in "immersiveness". For restaurants, I care more about the food. For attractions, I care more about the fun. For example - Harry Potter at Universal is immersive - but poorly planned for the volume of people it sees - so, to me, the fun drops significantly.

We like The Wave for breakfast. Another good choice is Trails End. Kona and Olivias are also good choices. I have listened to a few podcasts that have blasted various eats, that we, on the other hand, like. IMO, The Wave is tops for a breakfast buffet in its price range
