Family of 5

Have spent a few days looking for an offsite hotel for our family of 5.

We could stay at CBR for a good price (1456) for 5 nights. Having trouble finding an offsite place that is much less than CBR.

At an offsite place, we would not use their shuttle. We will have a car so will pay for parking at theme parks. And we will also be charged to park at the hotel. And then many places have an additional resort fee.

We want to be close (15-20 minutes away from Magic Kingdom), not interested in a condo or a rental. Any places more reasonable than CBR for a family of 5?

What about this Holiday Inn (formerly the Nickelodeon Resort)? - https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnresorts/hotels/us/en/orlando/disfs/hoteldetail

About 10 minute to WDW main gates and has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites.

Are you saying $1456 for 5 nights? So $291 per night? for CBR?

What are your dates?

Yes for 5 nights. My dates are April 1st through April 5th(checkout the 6th)

Okay that is spring break, but wow, considering that is almost double some nights right now for CBR ..... with all that construction. If you have a car, I would move offsite and get way more for your money.

Using your dates -

Doubletree Suites in Disney Springs - 2 room suite with kitchenette, newly renovated very well appointed. Shuttle system to the parks works very well. Hilton Honor $205, AAA $213 and others plus parking.

Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista SOUTH (a favorite of ours), 2 room suite with kitchenette, very well done, great hot breakfast buffet, evening drinks and snacks, AAA $134, Honors $144 and Flexible $149. Parking $10. (WiFi is free to Honors (free to join) if you book direct). I am actually shocked this is so low and may book myself.

StayBridge Suites Lake Buena Vista just outside Disney Springs, newly renovate 2 rooms suites with kitchens. Great breakfast buffet and evening receptions too. Great location, shuttles. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Living Room and Kitchen for $235. No extra fees. Really like this place. http://www.sborlando.com/

Homewood Suites Lake Buena Vista 2 room suite with kitchen, hot breakfast, evening social some nights (some Homewood that is dinner). AAA $198, Hilton Honors $202, Flexible $209. No extra fees.

Check these other places direct and via deal sites (note any resort/parking fees):

- Buena Vista Suites and Caribe Royale via Mousesavers, Direct (check their weekly specials) I prefer Caribe.
- Holiday Inn Resorts WATERPARK via Mousesavers and Direct. New rehab, rooms are nice, great location for parks.
- Holiday Inn LBV in DISNEY SPRINGS via DisneySpringsHotels.com and direct. Great shuttle and location.
- Hyatt Place LBV, new, good location, great seating area that turns into a nice sofabed. Breakfast included.

I do not think any of the moderates are worth nearly 300 dollars a night, especially when sticking a family of five in one. I think anything HopperFan mentioned above would give more bang for buck... I recently paid 220 at POFQ for a special anniversary trip for 2 (we are also normally a family of 5) and while I overall enjoyed the stay, even that I felt was high for the room quality.

Have you considered renting a timeshare property? You can get a resort-style experience with a lot more space for less money. There are many such properties around Disney.

I agree that once you get much over $200/night for a moderate it's just not worth it. We stayed for 3 nights for spring break (2017) at the Doubletree Suites Disney Springs. We got an amazing rate of $150/night with free parking through mousesavers. Then for the last 4 nights we were at POR for $200/night (with a passholder rate). While we have stayed at POR several times before and I love it. I kept wishing I was back at the Doubletree!! It was so nice to have the extra room to spread out. There was only three of us, me, DH and DS17. I don't know how anyone can do five people in a moderate. You do give up the Disney theming but you still kinda feel like you are in the "Disney Bubble". It's so close to Disney Springs which we love because we always spend lots of time there. This Thanksgiving we are doing a split stay at CSR and Staybridge Suites....hope we like it as well as the Doubletree.

We're a family of 5 and we love staying at condos in Windsor Hills. I know you said you did not want to stay in a condo but Windsor Hills is 10 minutes from the parks. We have used VacationCentralFlorida.com twice. We used Parkhopper Properties last time. If you really want a hotel, B Resort, Doubletree near Disney Springs are my favorites.

We are 5 with our grownup kids and just booked the StayBridge Suites after a tip from someone here. But the price for the Embassy Suites for your dates is great and I would jump on it. We have stayed there and like it.

How old re you kids? If they are all under 8 or so, I might try to just stay at CBR as I love staying on-site. However, if they are much older than that, I wouldn't put 5 in a room. We did it at the Yacht & Beach resort (which I believe has bigger rooms than CBR) when my oldest was 12 and it was awful. And we do Disney commando style so we are barely ever in our room. Getting ready for bed & trying to get ready in the morning was awful, especially with 2 tweens. We can do about 1 night in a regular hotel room now and that is it. Any longer and we look for some type of suite. Our last stay was at WBC and that was awesome, although I know you mentioned no condos. If your kids are much younger, you could probably do 3 in a room. We did the Swan and POR when our kids were younger and they worked out okay.
