Hanging up my running shoes

Glad you had a delicious Thanksgiving meal and donuts. I will say while the dogs in sweaters are adorable I doubt they thought a sweater was a good consolation prize when the rest of the family had donuts.

Ok, the dogs in sweaters lived up to the hype I created in my head. BUT ALSO SANTA HAT!! OMG SO CUTE!
A family turkey trot + krispy kremes is my idea of a an ideal holiday.
Reading about your 4 days of running has me feeling tired. Whenever I think about Dopey (don't tell anyone I typed that) I always think how much more I'd want to do it if it went like 5k, 10k, Full. It's that half in there (faint!) Which I realize is what happened last year.

Anyways back on topic. I'm excited to hear about your Jan WDW adventures and GOOD luck with the remaining weeks :) (also requesting more dogs in hats)

Another great week of training! Starting Thanksgiving with a 5K and donuts sounds about perfect to me! I am not sure I could have managed a dopey simulation on a holiday weekend- way to go!!

Sounds like an awesome (food packed) Thanksgiving weekend!
I like your trial Dopey, although it is not officially in my program, I may make some modifications to try that this weekend.

Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving!! And great job on the mini Dopey simulation! I think thatt would be tough to not have a rest break thrown in there for me. You're poising yourself for a great WDW race experience!

Great job getting through the Dopey simulation! I think adjusting to the four days in a row is definitely the hardest part (that and the early wakeups, but you guys are early morning runners, so hopefully the wakeup isn't too brutal for you), and it seems like you're in good shape!

Also ... Krispy Kreme is the best idea for a post Turkey Trot treat. Why didn't I think of that??? (Other than the fact that there's actually no Krispy Kreme near me, which should be a crime)

Those dog sweaters are absolutely adorable!!!

Thank you!

Donuts aside, the dogs were not initially excited AT ALL about the sweaters.

I saw this before I saw the weekly update and now I'm super excited to go look at the update!!!!

The Santa hat is actually a hood attached to the sweater. Teddy was not loving the hood, and I think his little eyes show him contempt for me in that moment. But, they were a huge hit at the Turkey Trot. We had so many people commenting on them and as time went on they seemed to adapt to the sweaters pretty well. I suspect the adoration went to their little heads.

You can totally do a Dopey (says the woman who hasn't done one yet.) #DisPeerPressure

5k and donuts is how all holidays should start in my opinion. :D

Welcome back to training-world! I can't believe you guys are back up to 12 miles already - good for you!!!

Yeah, but we've got to get in another 20+ miler at some point and I don't want to. :(

Your dogs are so cute. Nice work on getting back to training.

Thank you!

It really was a good weekend and especially given that our little Dopey sim went as well as it did.

I sure hope it will be a good one. I'm starting to get a little panicky now that it's getting so close.

The early wake-ups aren't fun, but you are right that it's not as bad for us since we get up pretty early normally anyway. I'm so sorry that your world is without Krispy Kreme close by. That is just wrong!

So, one other update. This week is awful. I've got some personal family stuff going on, so my head is in a bad place and running is just miserable right now. I'm just not feeling it. We did run Tuesday and today, but shorter miles than intended and much slower than we have been. The struggle is very real right now. :(

Things I tell myself...it's ok to run to find calm and peace...but it's also ok to run angry...it's ok to fluctuate during the course of one run. It's ok to let yourself forget about life things on a run...but it's also ok to spend the whole run thinking about everything too. I hope this week is better for you. hug

I'm so sorry. If running is miserable, bagging it is totally the right call - be kind to yourself. I hope things get better soon.

Thinking of you Zelly. Hang in there and know that we are sending positive energy and hugs your way.

:grouphug:I'm sorry to hear this Zelly... I hope things start to look up soon. Be kind to yourself and remember running will always be there even if you have to step away for a few days.

Thank you. Trying to work through it and there's always a path forward, right? Our running group is doing an informal run on Saturday and then we have a group leader meeting to discuss how the training season went. Hoping that running with our group of friends will be a good distraction.
