Canadian Disney Gift cards now work at the Park

For those looking.. over the last 2 weeks I've seen Disney gift cards at 2 Canadian Tire stores in the GTA.

Does anyone know - when you make a purchase using the GC, does the receipt show the balance remaining on that card? I get that the balance may fluctuate slightly depending on when it is actually used. Thank you!

Disney GCs seem to be available at most Gift Card Malls in Canada now. I never thought I’d see the day.

I haven’t seen them pop up at our local Costco yet though. Hopefully soon.

Question how cards could work with DVC dues...we usually just pay the full amount with our RBC Avion Visa to get the points for travel. Would it be better to buy the amount in CDN gift cards with our Avion visa and then apply those to the dues?

I have been using them to pay off a room only reservation through the automated system and the gift card is treated the same way as a credit card, so I would think DVC is the same.

Buying the gift card saves you the approximate 2.5% fee that the credit card companies charge on the exchange, and you are still getting the points through your Avion card.

I’ve purchased them at Canadian Tire and at our local Independent Grocery store.

Our Walmart has them in Victoria, BC. I've seen both $25 and $50 denominations.

Varies by individual store though. I'm in Ottawa too, and haven't seen them yet at the Sobeys nearest me. Found them at the closest Shoppers for the first time today (but several other Shoppers stores nearby have had them for a couple of months). I think they're still filtering in.

We normally redeem our pc points to feed my wife's Starbucks addiction but it looks like it's going to pay for a chunk of our trip now lol. When PC and shoppers optimum merge this year we have $170 worth of pc points to look forward to.

I thought you couldn't redeem the PC points for gift cards anymore since that security breach last year. Did something change?

No but as someone mentioned before we just redeem when we buy groceries and tell ourselves it went to the cards.

My local stupidstore does not have the cards yet. If I grab some from the local CT that does do you think they could activate them. I wonder how that works.

This. Just grab a card when you're getting your groceries. Redeem your pts and save that $50 off your grocery bill, then turn around and pay for the $50 gift card. At the end of the day, it's the exact same thing as getting the card for free.

Think we'll maybe buy a card so my son (11) can use it. He can have his own spending money when we're at WDW in March. While we've worked hard to make sure he understands cash (i.e. counting change when using cash/money concepts such as understanding spending/saving/giving, and that once you've used it's gone) but figure it may be a good way to introduce to him some concepts of plastic money --- keeping track of how much he's used versus how much he had/has left when it's not bills and coins in his pocket.
