Your Most Skippable Show

Fantasmic. Definitely. Luckily the family seated in front of us were lovely. We had almost a good enough time waiting for the show to justify sitting through it.:duck:

Illuminations. Liked it - not loved it - the first time. Next several times was happy with it. Now at 20 times or whatever....

The only show we skip on a regular basis is Fantasmic. Don't care for it (yes, I realize I need to duck when I say that)
My runner up is Illuminations but that's only due to it's age. It needs a change

Wow, I thought I was the only one who doesn't care for Fantasmic or Illuminations!! I would actually like Illuminations if that dang globe was about three times as big so I could actually see the images; the sound is also very spotty depending on where you're watching from. But F is just so long and slow IMO. We don't care for VOTLM either--damp and dull. I agree that most castle shows are cute but pretty easy out-prioritized by other stuff. Same with parades.

On the other hand, we rarely skip any of the musical acts in AK if we are near the area at the time--they are all just amazing! Ditto for all the MK performers on Main Street and otherwise. It's such a treat to run into Dan and his banjo band (that's close but not exactly right!) or the Fantasyland brass guys, the Dans, etc. We always stop for that stuff. Most everything else we like and we see if convenient, but skip if not (as Angi says, after the 10th time or so...). We've not seen HEA yet, so that's s must for next time.

We actually skipped Illuminations (too cold and we've seen it before) and Fantasmic (in favor of a better seat for Star Wars Fireworks) on our last trip, but I'm totally ok with skipping Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Don't get me wrong, I like it and I go see it if I have some extra time on my hands but it is in DESPERATE need of an update.

BATB and Nemo though, I have to see those at least twice every trip. :lovestruc

I used to love Illuminations. Now I’m in the needs replacement/update crowd.

We used to never miss the MK nighttime parade. I miss it.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid for us is the most skipable. None of us (two adults, a 8 year old and a 14 year old) wanted to see it again. Plus, I fell asleep three times while I was in there! :teeth:

Honorable mention is Fantasmic. None of the four of us liked it and didn't want to see it again.

I find most shows "skippable" after seeing them once. The surprise and excitement wears off after seeing it the first time.

In general it depends on the audience.

Most of the shows at MK are "skippable" unless taking someone there for the first time -- for example, on my last trip we went on Carousel of Progress and Country Bear Jamboree since my son hadn't seen them and we wanted low-impact attractions to do as a family with his baby sister. I am sure on our next trip we will catch a few shows with the grandparents for the low impact.

After many trips to DHS (including 3 recent tips since 2014) .. I have never seen Beauty and the Beast or Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Basically when you have a day at DHS, it is hard to catch Beauty and Beast since it is "out of the way" and only has a limited number of showtimes.
I find Indy Stunt Show "unskippable" .. but unfortunately have not been able to make it my last few trips (due to limited showtimes -- last trip we tried to go at the last minute and show as at capacity .. I was hoping to have my son see it for the first time).

Epcot? Any show in World Showcase is skippable. If you have kids, Turtle Talk is not skippable.

At AK (haven't been since 2014) - I've never seen Nemo so that will probably be on my list next trip despite Festival of the Lion King being pretty amazing.

Sad to see so many saying Rivers of Light is skippable. That show had so much hype, but appears disappointing? I am looking at a 3-day trip in November and debating which night show to "stay up late" for with the young kids (2yo and 6yo) .. I was planning on Rivers of Light as it is new and you can also see the tree projection show, but maybe I should question that and do DHS (especially if they have the Tower of Terror Christmas projection show again this year).

Do you mean the rope drop show?

This is currently "Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire" which runs several times a day and is different than the opening show, which is called "Let the Magic Begin." Friendship Faire is longer and much more elaborate.

We thought ROL was great and can't wait to see it again. I think it is expectations letting people down though, tough to have anything with laser lights, fireworks, etc where animals are. Skippable for me would be indy because the last one we saw in december they cut out half the show. Wasn't sure if it was due to it being the last show of the night or just another disney budget cut.

ok that's what I figured, thanks!
