I love credit cards so much!

AS @SouthFayetteFan suggested, keep trying to pull it up in incognito mode. I found the offer this way, but hesitated and didn't do it. A few days later I went back to do it and couldn't pull it up. It took me a few more tries but it eventually came back that same day. Good luck!
Do you recall what search method you used?

Incognito is the way to get that 30k SPG personal offer. You're doing it right, but it can be hit or miss. It's a solid offer, and I'd keep trying ever few days...or every day...or every hour if you're obsessive. Haha! I don't recall your 5/24 status off the top of my head but just keep in mind that SPG personal will obviously add to that (you probably already had thought that through) :)
Thanks, will keep trying. Is that going away 3/28 as well?

I am currently 1/24. Got the Disney 10/17 and the CIP 1/18 and am planning a CSR/CSP double dip this fall. No other cards on the radar at this time. I don't want to go lol/24 and I'm not too into trying to find places that take amex. In addition I will probably get dh the CSR first for the Global entry, and invite him to the SPG if it's still available.

P.S. From pages and pages ago, but I would have said you were a retired old man as well! Lol

So I have been a little down in the dumps about the fact that our Hawaiian Air flight had dropped a stinking $141 *per ticket* in the week or two since I booked. Then today I was going through my mileage accounts and checking in and, low and behold, I find 25K Avios in my British Airways account that I haven't logged into since last year when I booked one way of our trip to Oahu with Avios transferred over from Chase. THEY NEVER TOOK THEM FROM MY ACCOUNT! I called to book on the phone and the agent took my card number for the taxes and phone booking fees. I almost tried to get them to waive it since AS flights are not bookable online but I chickened out and agreed to the $68 charge for our 2 tickets. I keep watching my CC the next few days and only a charge for $11.20 appeared from BA so I assumed they remembered I shouldn't be charged that fee...or some random pixie dust or something. We go, we fly. No issues. Fast forward to today when I log in to find my 25k Avios sitting there untouched. I feel a little guilty not calling them but I also feel like calling up and saying 'you didn't charge me correctly in December of 2016' might be overkill.

Churning, always finding new ways to test my moral compass :joker:
did they charge you a $55 change fee per ticket? that's what it appears on their website- and I'd love to change one of my award flights to an AS flight but it doesn't show on BA site, and when I called in the rep said if it doesn't show on BA site it's not bookable with Avios (what did I miss here?)

As I was adding up our Marriott points this morning and looking at Hawaii hotels, I showed DH Disney’s Aulani, he had no idea such a place existed. He is now requesting we stay there for a few nights, he has no idea it’s not a theme park, should I tell him? I’m pretty sure he assumes there’s a park.

A few nights is doable. As you know, Aulani is not a theme park, but it does have an amazing "waterpark" with two water slides, a lazy river, kids slide and splash area, pools and infinity pool, a tropical reef tank, and its own lagoon. I definitely think there's enough things to do onsite to keep DH happy for a few days. But Aulani is a bit isolated on the western side of the island, so you'd have to drive to do any real sightseeing or shopping, and if you're paying rack rates then it's a hard to justify leaving the property. Do a split stay in that case.

I am up to 1820 IHG points on the Opinion check in surveys.

Not worth it at all in my opinion, but I am off and on this computer all day long so it's no big deal to play with it when I have nothing else to do. I get between 20-100 points a day, so maybe after a year I will have enough for the cheapest free room!

I usually give them about 10 minutes of my time and then if I'm not getting any points close it up. This morning I got 80 points in that 10 minutes and then it told me I have no more surveys. At first it took forever just to get a survey. Now it gives me a few chances and sends me away fairly soon.

The fun thing is the points are instantly credited to my IHG account, so even if its only 20 points I can see it.

I don't recommend this site to anybody. Way too slow!

I agree. I joined for the 1000 point bonus which I did eventually get. I do erewards for SW flights, and I may start alternating my "cash-ins" between SW and IHG. But I have given up on Opinion Check.

Haha - I give off the retired old man vibe, I love it!

The 30k SPG via Incognito is a pretty standard offer for AMEX. It hasn't gone away for years (other than temporarily being reported unavailable).

A couple of other thoughts: You could consider the Marriott 75k offer (+ 7,500 for adding an AU - think middle name trick or dog). You could have your husband get his CSR now (especially if you aren't going for the double dip for him) and then he can refer you to CSR in the fall...

Nice! Our dates will overlap quite a bit, we're there most of that week, too. We're staying at Swolphin on SPG points (I think I'm one of the few that has the SPG personal, but I did get the 30k offer, so that helped) and have airline loyalty points plus some vouchers from a trip that didn't go super well back in January (props to AA for trying to make it right). We did get our UT tickets before prices went up, and at the time they were running an add a fifth day "free" promo, so we saved there, too. Plan is to upgrade those to a 6-day parkhopper when we get onsite. Our trip is the last time our kiddo will be free, she'll turn three later that month.

My two year old granddaughter will turn 3 on Dec 31st, so they are only a month apart!

I also have the SPG personal but don't remember getting any big bonus for it, as I've had it since approximately 2001.

Joining for the 1000 points was the only worthwhile part of this!

I haven't changed anything on this ticket that I just bought. I paid way too many UR s for it but I don't think there's anything I can do about that now.
This discovery was from our trip to Hawaii last May. That ticket I used the avois for and that's the one that they never deducted my miles from my account or charged me the phone booking fee. I just logged in for the first time since making the booking over a year ago to find the 25k avois still sitting in there.

I don't think Amex will let you hold two of the same product anymore (I could be wrong). If you've already got a no fee, your Hilton points are safe since you can just do 1 swipe and reset the clock on them. What do you believe is the benefit of holding two no-fee Hiltons? Are you hoping to get an upgrade offer a year from now? I got the upgrade offer (original no fee to Surpass) so it will be interesting to see what offers happen now that the lineup has been "refreshed."
I don't need two, heck, don't even really need one LOL. Just like to avoid closing them if possible, to keep the available credit on my report high. I have a couple other cards I need to close soon, so I was trying to avoid closing too many at once.
I am unclear on what 1 swipe and reset means, oh, do you mean make a small charge to extend their expiration? Yeah, not worried about that.

Thanks!

I will look into the Marriott 75k. I want the SPG for air miles transfer, so the Marriott would need to transfer to SPG.

As soon as dh meets the CIP spend and I meet my next card spend (SPG) I will get him the CSR whilst most assuredly sharing the love with a fellow dischurner!

Guess who won today?

DW. I got the sad trombone.

Ohhhh Ok I thought you said you used the avios you found to rebook one of your tickets you just purchased..... I'm a little confused right now....wishing I knew better how to use Avios, since I think I could've gotten better flight times if I had more knowledge.

Just got the SPG Biz for both and my wife. Don’t have any problem hitting minimum spends because I am self-employed and pay quarterly taxes. Has a fee to pay by credit card but worth it if meeting the spend.
Wow, you fell off and got back on the horse in record time!

The botanical garden is nice, and the art museum has free admission for most of the exhibits.

We also went to this cemetery, which has a lot of cool old monuments and such and President Garfield is buried there, and if I remember correctly, there's a Tiffany window in a chapel. https://lakeviewcemetery.com/

Ooh, this made me think of something else! This ice cream place was amazing, and they have a couple vegan flavors.:thumbsup2

Thank you! Adding the ice cream place to the list. I don't know if you saw but I mentioned going to that chapel because of the Tiffany windows...budding stained glass artist here. I'm glad you enjoyed other parts of the cemetery, I'm intrigued to poke around there.

I found a cool hotel in Cleveland, a Hyatt located in the first indoor mall built in 1890. I looked at different ways of booking. The Chase travel portal wanted over 12K UR after the 1.5 CSR redemption, but it's only 8K Hyatt points, so I'm going to transfer them and book direct. This opens up a new question about getting the Hyatt card. It will throw off my long term plan, so I'm going to be organizing my thoughts and asking for some advice soon.

We aren’t big beach people, we are planning lots of hikes and now that DH really wants to stay there I’m thinking making that the last 2 nights of the trip to recover and relax from our trip before we head home.

Marriott and SPG are basically 1 in the same :) Marriott transfers to SPG at 3:1 // SPG transfers to Marriott at 1:3

So all in the Marriott offer is 75,000 points + 7,500 AU + 3,000 points from meeting the MSR. = 85,500 Marriott points. You can transfer them INSTANTLY to SPG and they are 28,500 SPG points then :)

Totally get it. I'm not much of a beach person either, but the pools are great and the vibe is relaxing. Adding Aulani to the tail end of your trip would be nice. And two nights is kind of a minimum when you consider the official check in time is 3 pm (we've always been able to get in earlier; and even if your room isn't ready, they'll hold your bags and you can enjoy the amenities) and checkout is 11 am the next day. There are a lot of great hikes in and around Honolulu and the windward side of Oahu, which is more accessible from Waikiki or somewhere more central anyway. Good luck with your planning!

This thread just moves too fast for me to keep up with everything. Informed delivery showed me that my CIP card will be arriving in the mail today! I will be paying my friend $1150 for the sewing machine and paying $150 in eBay fees as well. Will be a good start towards the minimum, since none of that is out of pocket costs. Hoping to put some work travel on this card as well in the next 3 months.

After the CIP is done, I am not sure what I want to do. I was thinking of holding off to get a SW companion pass for 2019/2020 (to help with our 2019 WDW trip), but SW flights to Orlando all have a connection from our airport. Delta has nonstop and with a 17 month old, I feel like nonstop would be much better. I can book the flights next month. I have enough Delta points for 3 round trip tickets to Orlando, but it would wipe out most of what I have saved. Wondering if I should think about a Delta card, since it would also get us free checked bags too.
