I love credit cards so much!

I found a post on /r/churning that if the receiving card is linked to another card it wont work. I'll try removing it from my wife's card and try tomorrow.
They’re wrong. Currently helping family with two CIPs who transfer to the same CSR each month. All 3 accounts even have different logins. If it doesn’t work for you tomorrow I would either call Chase or try removing the card and re-entering it if that is possible.

Totally miss read this. I hope they don’t do this. This was a perk of getting the CSR

CSR price protection language still exist. CFU/CF/United price protection language is gone.

edit: nvm, it says its gone... :\
so big purchases on other cards is what chase is telling us.

edit 2: Price Protection is gone. Return Protection still exist on CSR.

Your CSR is already receiving UR from your wife’s CSR, so it can’t also receive points from your CIP. Transfer your UR from your CIP > wife’s CSR > your CSR. That should work.
I’ve set family up so their one CSR is receiving from 2 CIPs for what that’s worth, admittedly this was linked up about 6 months ago.

...But the quote I copied said no more btwn programs 4/16. I thought they weren’t combining til August. So btwn April and August your points are stuck at one brand or the other?
August was the month that the SPG website is rumored to go down based on what was supposedly a chat in Chinese between someone and their IT buddy. To feel safe you should pick whichever program you want your points in and leave them there. I’ve chosen SPG, personally I see 0 reason for them to freeze everyone for months on end after going to all this effort to enable seemless transfers. Transferring everyone all at once makes a lot more sense in my book. Regardless, if I were forced to pick one I’d go SPG so that is where my points shall sit for now.

Wanna know something funny? Just registered for a SPG promo to get 250 bonus SPG points on nights past #2 for stays through July 20. The program isn’t going cease to exist folks, it’s just going to merge :)

Sadly, I only really started taking advantage of the price protection benefit of my Chase cards in the second half of last year, but all in, I think I've received something like $650 back by making price protection claims. I'll be bummed if this goes away for the CF and CFU.
I'm so bummed about this! You know I love this feature. I also rely on the insurance on my CSR so that better not change. I retweeted the doctor of credit shame on chase tweet. Hope they get enough pushback to reconsider!

Well, unless my math is bad, I'm better off doing the hotel + flight and converting SPG to Marriott to United. Given the numbers of SPG and Marriott points I have, I can either convert them into 132,000 United miles with a 7-night Category 1-5 cert that I might never use. Or I can convert them into 113,703 Alaska miles including the 5,000 bonuses for transferring in increments of 20,000. I value United miles more highly than Alaska miles, so if I'm going to convert, it seems like United is the way to go. Anyone want to tell me I did my math wrong? I currently have 52,412 SPG and 123,875 Marriott points.

You know me and math so I won't comment on that, but I've started to value Alaska miles a lot higher than United mostly because of Hawaii. They seem to have better award space and award pricing than United. Guess I'm just thinking that it might not be bad for you to have them in Alaska as URs seem easier to get than Alaska miles. Don't know your new routing to Hawaii though...maybe you are thinking Southwest in the future?

Haven’t most of the major credit card issuers rolled back or eliminated price protection from their cards? I recall Citi devalued their price protection last week. Amex doesn’t even have price protection. Too much of a good thing, I guess, with apps like earny filing nickel and dime claims.

Idk. Receiving from more than one linked card seems to be a common error. Rather than ask Chase to move my points every time, I just use my wife as the middleman.

Where are you staying in Punta Cana? I'm looking at beach vacation options for us for next February break. I think we've settled on Grand Cayman but DR looks interesting too.

You all will probably appreciate this. As mentioned above, I've been looking at beach resorts for a trip next February. For two years in a row I've said 'next year we're going somewhere warm on Feb break' but I haven't followed through on it yet. Now that I'm more into points/miles, I'm determined to make it happen for 2019. One of the blogs I read, MommyPoints, sold me on the idea of Grand Cayman so I booked a points reservation at the Marriott there even though I don't have nearly enough points in my account, lol. (LOVE this about Marriott Rewards & hope they keep the feature when they fully merge with Starwood.)

So, this morning I jump onto Google Flights to see what flight options are from NYC to Grand Cayman or Bahamas (which is my 2nd choice). And all the options were terrible layovers or astronomical prices for President's Week. My dream of a Feb beach vacation died a little bit in that moment. So we go about our day, and then later it hits me. Neither Southwest nor Jet Blue were showing up on Google because their schedules haven't been released that far out yet! Jet Blue flies direct from here to pretty much every Caribbean island you can think of, and Southwest could get us there with a connection in Ft. Lauderdale. The dream is back alive!

Now I just need to hoard UR points like crazy since I was planning to use them to buy flights to London for next summer, and will probably need to buy JetBlue flights to Grand Cayman with them too if we actually commit to this trip, unless I can quickly get a bunch of JB points. I have about 15,000 right now, which might get me a single one-way ticket.
I have been to Dominican and Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman is way better. Way better!!!! I have no desire to go back to the Dominican, but I would move to Grand Cayman in a heartbeat. The most beautiful water and sand I have ever seen. Also, through Ft. Lauderdale, customs was a breeze on the flight home. :)

citi rolled back the benefit, its still there, just not as good as it used to. i think Discover is still the same.

I’ve taken an interest in what card the people in front of me at the checkout line use at any given place. A lot of times, it’s like *facepalm* that card doesn’t earn any category bonus for you here, or even worse they’re using cash or debit.

I was at Costco today stocking up on some essentials, and the guy in front of me pulled out the Chase Freedom Unlimited for 1.5x UR. Good choice.

But not as good as mine.

Paid with a VGC bought at Safeway with their $15 off two $100 VGCs deal, so I got $200 VGCs for $196.90 and 5x UR at grocery stores using the Chase Freedom.

Just reread the link you posted. Stinks they aren’t including the price protection. Only used it this past Christmas for $10 but it was nice knowing I could buy ahead of time and get a refund if someone lowered their price before Christmas. I’ll have to look into the return protection

I'm going to remain somewhat optimistic on the SPG/Marriott program merger. This was a huge acquisition and thus far has been handled in a great way! Many speculated that the transfer rates would be bad and SPG loyalists would get screwed - then the 3:1 ratio came out and that was heralded as an absolutely fair number.

DoC has walked back on the statement that transfers between programs would end on 4/16 - apparently that was a misunderstood rumor and was just tied to the airline transfers. I can't see them ending the 1:3 and 3:1 instant transfers until they fully become 1 program.

I do see negative changes coming to the airline transfer partners, but in some ways the SPG setup there may have been too good to be true. For those with lots of points, the Marriott Nights and Flights still remains an awesome option that can actually beat the SPG transfer program in some ways. I said this earlier but I would be shocked if Marriott eliminates the airline transfers altogether, they know that many of their most loyal clients enjoy this benefit.

I respect anybody who feels the sky is falling but I'm going to try to stay positive for what it's worth :)

Putting the $1000 as your income may be the issue. For mine (finally approved after painful phone call) I told him I had at most sold $50 worth. I was a little exasperated and he said that is fine “understand start up business.” Maybe since you put so much they feel like they need/want the documentation?!?
Oh I though that the min that they accepted was 1K!??:worried:

I definitely need to get better at this kind of spend. It sometimes feels overwhelming to remember everything. Slow and steady learning needed and moving out of my comfort zone.

I agree about the insurance, that's one of the reasons the CSR was a keeper for me. If it goes it's getting downgraded.

I also agree on the Alaska miles, they are hard to earn. I'm considering getting the AS business card in the fall so I can cancel the personal card and then go back to the personal the next fall, but I'm still trying to figure out if BofA is easy to get biz cards from and if they report to your credit report. I'm 4/24 with nothing falling off until March 2019. My next card is going to be CIC hopefully in June unless it looks like the higher offer goes away and then I'll apply but only if it's in May, I don't want it yet. One MSR at a time :)
