What Happened to my Happy Boards? Here's a Little Positivity!

I'm sad. The top three threads on the podcast board are bashing how things are done at The Dis.

So I just wanted to take a minute to praise them for the (free) excellent content that I regularly enjoy. I love watching this team be passionate about Disney. I really do feel like I'm sitting around the table with my friends talking about my favorite place in the world. Thank you, Dis Team, for being so approachable in the parks. I've never heard of anyone acting as if fans are a burden.

I know the podcast is not even a fraction of your main job. You have a whole other realm for your "full time" position, which I'm sure is much more than 40 hours. And you have families on top of that. Thank you for taking the time to think of me, the listener.

I just wanted to take the time to offer a sincere thank you to the team!

Agreed! I always enjoy the various podcasts when I have time to listen and LOVE the addition of Tyler. I think he does a great job and I look forward to see what the Disneyland show becomes. Hopefully with other Disneyland folks. #teamTom And that's coming from a person with no future trips in the works as I'm currently priced out of going. I just enjoy the shows for entertainment purposes.

Thank you Dis Team!!!

I agree. My wife and I get so much enjoyment out of the different shows and vlogs. We appreciate all the hard work in making the huge volume of content available for us to enjoy. I feel like we are just one big family enjoying our favorite topic "Disney". We watched the newest vlog "Tots and a Twinkie at Friar's Nook | Magic Kingdom" yesterday with Kylie, Craig and Ryno and had a smile on our face the whole time. To the whole Dis team I say Thank You.

I've got a "What's happened to my happy boards" question also, but it's a whole lot different then this one. The Theme Parks, Attractions and Strategies board use to be a fun, lively, energetic board, with many spirited conversations. Now they've created so many boards and clamped down so hard on freedom of speech and have promoted so much political correctness, that they're all pretty much dead. On most of the boards, if you post a thread, come back 2 months later, the post will still be on the first page. It's time to eliminate or consolidate at least half of the boards and have the moderators step back from their heavy handed storm trooper mentality policing. If people didn't like the lively conversations, nothing required them to read them.

One simple example of heavy handedness is, that I posted a question on the Theme Parks, Attractions and Strategies board about accessing the new Tron Attraction at the Magic Kingdom. The Attraction had already been announced and they had even already broken ground. It was just a discussion about the park. The Moderator moved it to the Rumors and News board, which is pretty much dead. I guess he didn't like the subject, or it just wasn't about, "What are the best shoes to wear at the parks", who knows. It wasn't a rumor, and it wasn't news.

Another chiming in to say what a great job the podcast team does. I’m new to the boards but I found the podcast a year ago when I first booked my upcoming trip, and have been hooked ever since. I will admit that I only watch the WDW content and not Universal or DisneyLand, but I thoroughly enjoy it and look forward to new videos coming out, as well as having learnt a huge amount for my upcoming trip. A huge thank you to the team for all your hard work in producing such great content!

The moderators are only doing what they are told: to make sure DIS Posting Guidelines are being adhered to, so unless those change, the mods will continue to make sure posters follow the rules. The guidelines have been in place for many, many years; this is not new.

I perfectly understand who's calling the shots. I can recall getting ripped to pieces by Kevin and John and many others on this board for suggesting that the Podcast needed to be visual instead of just audible. It was tough, but enjoyable, because it was a lively conversation.

great thread!!!
thanks for posting this so that we could thank the podcasters for all they do for us crazy disney fans.
All the wonderful content, information, videos, research, etc etc etc.

We love what the podcasters do. And it's so helpful and enjoyable to watch (and before video, to listen to).

thanks for giving us our disney fix in between our visits (that are sadly fewer and farther between these days....our next big one currently scheduled for 5 years from now....it's hard to travel halfway around the world with the entire clan....)
your views into disney help us get through that very long wait!!!!...

Some people often forget themselves (and their manners).
This Board is a GIFT. You shouldn't make demands on a gift. You can hint, suggest, praise the good, but never be harsh. I don't throw a fit if the size/style/color of a personal gift doesn't work for me. The same is true when someone takes the time for their input on podcasts, postings, or any other contribution.

I am thankful for their input (provided they are not bashing). It's okay to have a difference of opinion. [Hey, I prefer cotton over polyester and dark chocolate over milk chocolate. I don't even have a single favorite color, but do have favorite color combinations.] So, am I wrong? No, I am perfect for me! (and I won't belittle you if your choices are different.) But I am free to ask questions and offer suggestions. If you still don't know what bashing is I'll offer you this example: If you like okra or lima beans and someone tells you "Ew, that's gross!!!"... THAT is bashing. So don't bash others. Instead, ask good questions and be kind. You'll learn more and everyone will benefit. That's my 2¢.

Couldn't agree more. Although TBF, you'll probably have better luck on the news and rumor board, the discussions are a little bit more open minded over there.

I only like white chocolate but that technically isn't chocolate. I'd take something gummy or sour over any chocolate.

Yes the News and Rumor board is a little more open to varying opinions, however the number of active posters is pretty small and the rumors and news subject matter is just a little bit too narrow. In my opinion, the name of the Theme Parks, Attractions and Strategies board should be changed to "The Walt Disney World Vacation Planning Board" and there should also be a Board named "Theme Parks, Attractions, Strategies, Rumors and News Board".

Thats how it was back in the day. You couldn't do it now because as you eluded to in your PP, if you aren't posting how they want you to post they won't allow it.

Here's how I look at things. The team here is busting their donkey's providing us free content. And maybe not everything is a home run. But it's free, so I'm not going to complain.

And as far as I know, no one said they weren't and no one complained about the free content and no one expects a home run. Talking two completely different subjects here. Boards not shows.
