I love credit cards so much!

You guys might remember when I was trying to redeem my $44 of Barclay Arrival points and could only do it in $25 increments... so I've just had $19.XX hanging out, because I have no reason to use that card anymore. Well I went to order something online today, and checked cashback monitor, and who would have guessed but the Barclay portal is offering an extra 4 points per dollar! So I went through there... I'll get 5 points for dollar, making it even with the other 'best' portal rate (TCB), and earn about $3.50 in points, so I'll only be about $2 away from from being able to redeem the last bit. And if what I ordered is what I'm hoping for, I'll get another and hopefully it'll still be at an extra 4 points per dollar... That would be much better than the $275 in dining or $550 in other spend I would have been looking at to get to $25 to redeem.

And after I use that $25, I don't even care about the $1.25 that I'll get back :rotfl:

Yeah, I am worried that I am hitting Chase a little too hard. Disney Visa was 2/2015, Got a CSP in 2/16, closed a year later. SW cards were 6/17. CIP 2/18. So it was pretty steady but you're right that 4 in six months might be overkill. Plus, my credit limits with Chase are crazy high, although I will be closing those SW cards this summer, so that would help.

DH is also 3/24 currently plus the CIP he was just approved for. He just closed a CSP he'd had since 1/16. Arrival+ in 4/17. Two SW personal cards in 9/17. We are in very similar situations.

I like your suggestion except that it requires me to be patient and wait for that CSR. lol. But that could really be for the best. I am not sure what AMEX biz cards are out there, might have to do some research. Maybe SPG but I just missed the increased bonus and that all seems very up in the air right now. I have never really thought that MRs would be great for us because we value hotels over flights and hotel partners are limited. I would love to be proven wrong, though.
I have a post on DISchurners that talks about EVERY Chase Biz Card - it's a good read :)

Gah with both of you at 3/24...you have a TOUGH decision. You want the CSR but if you do the double dip you potentially lose the opportunity to go for 2 other cards.

Ok, so I came across a killer rate for the S&D for over the 4th of July. Since it would be a very short stay, I started looking into flying.

I have UR and SPG points. We fly out of CLT and only direct flights to MCO (or almost anywhere for that matter) are thru AA or Frontier. I have a BA avios acct but am not seeing any award avail there. We can fly Frontier for 125/per person. But I'm nervous to use them plus baggage fees are steep and we're a family of 4. Any other thoughts/options on how I can use cc miles for this flight. Flying novices here.

I will definitely go take a look at that post, sounds like exactly what I need!

I know, right? Tough decisions.

So I think I've decided to try the Sapphire double dip on Monday. It's not some type of bank holiday or anything, right? Recon and verification should be open like normal?

The last few times I've mentioned opening 2 new cards, it hasn't seemed to phase hubby so that's my tacit approval to go ahead :) (I haven't mentioned it's the one with $450 AF :scared1: that's later…)

I figured on Monday because if I do it successfully it'll soften the blow of whatever comes out of the SPG announcement. If something goes wrong, it's all rolled into one depressing event. This is all assuming all systems go at Chase.

What are you finding for flights on the UR travel portal? Pay w/ URs there if the price is right.

SPG points you would have to transfer directly to a specific airline (no backsies once it's done) and that could take 4-5 days to reach the airline (20K Starpoints = 25K AA miles). Then you're subject to finding availability for award tickets. I do see some sAAver availability on AA in July right now, depending on the day of the week, 7.5K each way per person. That would take 60K AA miles total for all four of you if you can make the dates work.

If you have enough SPG points for a Marriott travel package that's another option for getting AA miles.

Or opening up an Aviator AAdvantage card which currently has a 50K signup bonus, but you'll have to wait for the miles to post to your account and hope availability still exists by the time the miles post to your account. The plus to this card is then you wouldn't have to pay baggage fees (though the $95 AF is not waived).

LOL, I have nothing useful. I am still waiting for Plastiq to figure out why I can't pay my property taxes with me AMEX, and beginning to try to think of Plan B to meet the MSR if they can't fix it!
We have a winter storm warning too, rain today turning to ice and a whole bunch of snow tomorrow. Yuck!!!! I need to move!

I initiated a 2nd chat, and he said he would rush it, and a few hours later my property taxes have been paid with dh Delta Biz!

Received a CapOne Venture targeted mailer for 60,000k bonus points after $3k spend. Highest I've ever seen for that one. Expires June 1 - may actually consider pulling the trigger on it. Would be $600 off my cruise for next summer. Hmm.

Bad thing with the capital one cards is that they can be harder to get and they do a hard pull. But I had one for the last 2 years (until recently changed it to no fee quicksilver) and I liked it. Visa so easy to use, their web site and app is easy to navigate. I redeemed the purchase eraser for Disney tickets and even for a down payment on a town home. At the end I cashed out the remaining points for a Target gift card. 60k is way good. It might be worth at least applying depending where you are at on your 5/24 status.

Just checking in, all. I haven't been as active in this thread this week. I've been trying to shake a late season bug.

Anyway, my wife used to travel a lot for work and was always flying out of SFO. So I got an Amex Platinum, in large part, to add her as an AU and get her into the Centurion Lounge to eat and relax before and after flights (she hates flying) because she was always flying United (she hates flying United) and the Centurion Lounge is right in their Terminal. Besides, being able to bring in two of her colleagues as guests really scored major networking points. (But why AU? She wouldn't have signed up for the Platinum herself, and I was still a baby churner then.)

Well, my wife hasn't had to travel as much in the past 6 months, and it didn't look like she would be traveling as much going forward because her projects are keeping her busy here.

So at the end of last month, I cancelled my personal Platinum and her AU along with it.

My wife tells me today that she may have to do some traveling for work this summer and possibly fall.

*facepalm*

I could justify burning one of my */24 slots to get a last chance at the MB Platinum's 60k MR points. I am not burning another one of my wife's */24 slots to add her as an AU!

So I go over to Cardmatch, plug in her information, and she's been matched to the 100k MR offer for her own personal Platinum!

If I can pull it up again this weekend, do I pull the trigger? (I think I know the answer.)

But ... I was trying to avoid 2x $550 AFs on two Platinums because otherwise I would've kept my personal Platinum (and her AU) open and taken the 30k MR retention offer (no strings attached!)!!! And saved my wife to try for 100k MR when she's over 5/24.

Not to mention another $5k MSR in 3 months that would overlap substantially with my MB Platinum MSR! And we still have a little over $1k left on my wife's SPG Biz MSR.

I swear, regular people don't have these kind of problems...

With so many people hedging their Starpoints against what Marriott might announce on Monday, I put some pressure on my wife to finalize our Holidays in Hawaii plans this week.

The plan is to spend 100k SPG for 5 nights at the Royal Hawaiian over Christmas and 65k SPG for 3 nights at the Sheraton Waikiki over New Year's, with 2 nights at Aulani in between. By my math, that works out to 3.9 cpp for the Royal Hawaiian (the 5th night free really boosts the redemption value) and 3.1 cpp for the Sheraton Waikiki. I say that's a fair return on some of the Starpoints I purchased at 2.1 cpp, and of course bonuses. With rumors that Marriott may be moving towards dynamic pricing, I'm a little nervous that I might not see this kind of valuation again.

I went to Walmart today to do a bill pay on my discover credit card. I used my discover debit card and did 1500. The fee was a $1.50. Hopefully, I get cashback on the purchase. I’ll let everyone know.

Of course Discover had a fraud alert so I spent 15 mins on hold. When that was sorted out I go to the cashier that voided my transaction and she starts helping me again. I was standing near her register. The next guy on line starts talking about shooting me with his shotgun. He thought I cut. all the cashiers were like no she was here. He then goes since you are a lady I won’t shoot you. He was then going on about how he likes to shoot bigger guys because they go down harder and the smaller guys tend to fly.... I really hate Walmart....
I was about to do a mini-list of all the little churning failures I’ve had today- I would take my mini-failures in spades compared to that. O.M.G.

Ack! I got this in the mail today too. Seemed like a good deal but I know NOTHING about CapOne. Worth burning a */24 spot for?

Obviously, I am still in limbo, trying to figure out what to do. And so very easily distracted...

It feels a little wrong that I'm buying eBay "business" inventory on my personal MB Platinum card to meet MSR.

And what are you selling? I am fascinated by this eBay stuff. Spent a bunch of time reading up on it one night last week.
