Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Leaving next Wed for a 4 night stay at BC. Question- In July, what’s best Park early or Pool early? Will we have a hard time finding a seat in the afternoon at the pool (SAB)? I was planning for parks early, pool afternoon, park again early evening...but now I am second guessing myself. Just wondering if anyone had recommendations. It’s just my hubby, two 6 year old girls, and me. Thanks all!!!

The official Times Guide always states the Friendship boats start service 30 minutes before park opening until 1 hr after park close. @shoreward posted earlier that the interval between Friendships has been reduced from ~20 minutes to ~`15 minutes now that TSL has opened.

Dave

Thanks for the reply. So if HS park opening is at 9 am and our breakfast reservation is 8 am, is our only option to walk?

I think you will be fine. Since TSL opened last month, HS now has park open scheduled for 8 AM vs 9 AM. In addition EMH are now every morning at HS beginning at 7 AM - 8 AM. You might want to rethink your breakfast since it will not be a PPO any longer but just Breakfast after the first wave has arrived at HS and the park is actually open to non-resort guests.

As someone that will be there next week (and a BC addict) that is the plan we are following with out 2yr old grandaughter. I think the advantage of hitting the parks early, especially with small ones, to beat the July heat far outweighs the "can I find a chair" challenge.

Random question!

I just made my FP for my beach club stay and because my FoP FP puts us in AK later than I wanted I saw an opportunity to schedule a sit down breakfast. my boyfriend isnt a character person but I was looking at Ale & Compass. has anyone eaten there for breakfast that could tell me how it is? I was also throwing around the idea of rebooking a Boma reservation and taking a minnie van or Uber there and have the breakfast we wanted originally. (We canceled because of switching resorts) after breakfast we can take a bus to AK.

Thoughts?

That’s what we do but instead of the pool we had all been taking naps because 2 park days in a row make my family miserable!

21 days we will do the pool during our mid day break, dh can nap if he wants because we are doing a park every other day.

It looks as if Disney has added a category for deluxe rooms at the BC that do not have club level access for 2019. Yacht Club deluxe rooms still have club level access. I wonder how Disney decides which deluxe rooms will be club level and which deluxe rooms will not. I'm probably not the only one who sees this a big money grab.

We were at the BC last month with our grandsons and it worked out best to go to the parks in the morning and evening and go to the pool in the afternoon. It was just too hot at the parks to stay there too long.

We didn't have any trouble getting chairs at SAB. In fact, we even got a table with umbrella a couple of times. But I am not shy about removing wet towels off of chairs that look abandoned. People are pretty lazy about cleaning off their chairs when they leave. We were at SAB one afternoon when they closed the pool for lightening. As we were leaving I could see just how many chairs had wet towels on them that people had left behind. I bet it was 20%.

It's essentially unbundling club level access while not providing any discounts for this room category, which has been price rated to include the cost for club level access.. Then if you want club level access it's an up-charge.

And certain people wonder why I'm disgusted with Disney. It's because of all the poor decisions and price gouging by management. I don't expect anything for free but when you are already charging for something and then charge for it twice it's egregious. And for what? To pump up the stock price, not for the good of the customers, Cast Members or the parks and resorts. This is all being done to pump up the stock price and upper management's bonuses.

The Disney of today is trading on the reputation of the Disney of the past. It's only a matter of time until guests catch on and there is a backlash. All the good will and nostalgia that customers had about you in the past can not sustain a company that destroys it's reputation with it's customers. This is exactly what Disney is doing. Disney Management's hubris will be it's downfall. It's happening before our eyes.

Sorry guys but this category is not new for 2019, it has been available for all of 2018. The reason for this category was / is based on guest feedback. Many of the Deluxe rooms are quite a distance from the CL lounge. The information that I was given when I asked in May was that the inventory pool of Deluxe rooms was available with or without CL access, and were priced accordingly.

Thanks for the information. I know that the Wilderness Lodge has been offering club level access to guests who have a regular resort reservation. But those guests would add the option at check in. Was the option to have a deluxe room without club level access at the Beach Club something that was by request only prior to 2019? I don't remember seeing the category on the WDW website before 2019, although I wasn't looking for it, either. :)

I think that sounds like a great idea! I would love to couple a visit to AKL with a day at AK. Haven’t been for 5-7 years, but Boma was great when we were there!

The breakfast at Ale & Compass is good but not in the class of the Boma Breakfast Buffet. We have tried both, Ale & Compass for a full breakfast before a day at Epcot or HS. We loved the Boma breakfast but it can be very filling so plan the next few hours to allow for a leisure pace.

Your transportation decision really depends on how much of a hurry you are in for Breakfast. Lyft or Uber will be cheaper than the $25 Minnie Van. You could always try the bus to AK from BC and then the bus to AK. While I don't use a bus in my daily life, I don't mind leaving the driving to the Disney bus system while I am at Disney unless I am in a real hurry and we don't go to Disney World to be in a real hurry.

Thank you both for the advice!

My thought is to do a 8:15 breakfast at Boma, eat our fill and make our way to AK in no rush. Our first FP window starts at 10 (Kilimanjaro Safari), so I expect to arrive a little after 10. I can also push back the FP as well if needed. I was thinking Uber or Minnie van would be faster and more direct. We have used disney transportation before and while it isnt bad we are used to quicker service and sometimes drive. The only reason we aren't deciding to drive this time is that after AK we plan on hopping straight to Epcot future world.

I love the Boma breakfast! I haven't dined at the new Ale & Compass in the morning. They just reinstated the buffet there last week, and as part of the buffet, you can add one of the featured entrees. My friend who was staying at the resort ate there every morning before going to the pool.

Here are the current menus- also posted on Page 1, Post 7.

Quick question...are the photos/prices of the wine selections in the Marketplace full or half bottles? Trying to weigh the pros/cons of buying there vs. packing vs. having to be available for our grocery delivery. Thank you!!

They are full bottles of wine. There might be a few half bottles in the refrigerator. But most of them are full.
