*** The Official September 2018 Thread *** let's get started to have some fun

We bought EBCI for the return flight, since last year on our "Just the 2 of us" trip, we forgot to check in until hours later and were almost last onto the flight. We were not able to sit together which worked out fine for us, but this year our boys are coming along and they would be unhappy if we couldn't sit together.

I just bought EBCI for both legs of my flight also after forgetting to check in for a return trip earlier this month and ending up sixth from the very last person to board the plane. I was of course in a middle seat. The only overhead room for my bag was in the very back of the plane and the middle seat was near the front so I got to wait for almost everyone to get off the plane before I could retrieve my bag. So, for another $15 each way I figure it'll be worth it! I don't want to have to try to remember to check in while I'm in the MK next Thursday evening!

Oh, and I have three free drink coupons left that SW mailed to me earlier this year. With the weather forecasts, I will definitely be using one or two on the flight to Orlando!

Just saw in another thread (with pictures) the Halloween Refillable mugs are officially at the resorts!! They did not specify which resort they were at. I can’t wait for our trip in 17 days.

The only confirmation of a specific resort so far is Pop but I'm guessing they are at all of the resorts now. Can't wait to get one!

8 days over here! I know that hurricanes are a very real threat to Florida this time of year, but the likelihood of one impacting Orlando is relatively low. I am choosing not to worry!!! I fear grounded planes more than anything else, but I'm flying JetBlue, who are always wonderful about allowing flight changes due to weather, and am booked on the first flight of the day, which is also the least likely to get delayed or cancelled.

Fingers crossed we all get down to the most magical place on earth without incident!!

DITTO!!! Rain is a pain. Grounded planes are everything. It's at 70% to form a TD. I swear if it forms a TD and becomes a TS on the 30th (like Irma), I will lose my mind.

We were with extended family and forgot to check in for our flight on SW until 6 or more hours later. I think there were only four people who got on the plane after us. Needless to say, I've started buying EBCI now. Unfortunately, SWA is raising the price on early bird check in. It will cost more for some flights than for others so I don't know how that will work out.

As far as rain in September - expect some rain and you won't be disappointed when it happens. ;) I've heard that 5 day forecasts are 80% inaccurate. In Florida, it seems like 24 hour forecasts are 80% inaccurate. As long as they don't cancel flights, we'll survive.

I go back and forth on the poncho thing for every Disney trip. On one hand, it's super convenient to throw a few dollar ponchos in the bottom of our backpack, forget about them and throw them away when we're done using them. Having to put our wet ponchos back into our bag when it stops raining doesn't sound very appealing, although the quality of the Disney ponchos is loads better than the "ice bucket bags" masquerading as dollar ponchos.
I have two thicker camping ponchos I bought a few years ago. I will probably bring those with us, along with a couple of the dollar ponchos. Ponchos are better than rain jackets, regardless. The front of my pants/shorts always tend to get soaked when it rains when I wear my Columbia rain jacket.

I bring an umbrella, too. When it really downpours, (and what trip hasn't that happened in any month?), I am super glad to have the poncho and the umbrella.

I didn’t bring one last year, but I’m making a point to bring one this year. A bit more ventilated for light rain, and it can be portable shade in a pinch (the central plaza in front of the stage at Hollywood Studios got hot last year).

Also, Disney poncho. Hopefully I’ll remember to bring mine from last year (if it doesn’t smell too bad), but I’ll just buy another if I need it. A bit expensive, but it’s not like it’s going to break the bank or anything.

I'm definitely getting a couple, they're adorable!
Same here— hopefully they’ll be out at POFQ next Saturday. And hopefully I won’t lose mine at Disney Springs on my departure day again this year... :sad2: (fortunately that was just the standard design, and I already have a couple of those.)

I would have to buy 4 this time and prefer to throw them away after use. Loaded up on a dozen from Amazon. Umbrella is in box being shipped out to its permanent OL home. I will travel with one, too. Just in case. Anxiety is sky rocketing. It's almost as if they are saying - no possible way not to have a storm on your travel date.

I really hope there's not another hurricane that hits Orlando in September. If one does hit I hope it's not close to my travel dates. I mean what are the chances a hurricane hits at pretty much the same exact time two years in a row?

4 days to go and I am packed! Hopefully no one needs anything that’s in the suitcases in the mean time because TOO BAD! It is packed and staying that way until we are in our hotel room!

I am going to miss my kitties! The kitten I have (appropriately named Kitten) has slept with me every night since I found her near death on the side of road, and she has since recovered and is a complete and utter lunatic but I know she will be confused as to where I am! I keep telling her that I will be back but she doesn’t listen and just bites my foot lol. My other cat, Earl, is used to me going places and as long as he has food, he doesn’t really care.

I also can’t wait to get one of those refillable Halloween mugs, and I refuse to worry about whatever hurricane activity may or may not be manifesting. Worrying about it will only stress me out and won’t affect the outcome, so I refuse to do it lol.

But anyway, 4 days!!

Here's my outlook on the longterm forecast: If it says sunny, warm days, I believe it. If it says rain or other bad wether I say it's plenty of time for that to change :beach:
