We thought about visiting Phoenix too but I never knew there were so many scorpions

I've been there 3 times and never saw one. I've had lots of friends visit and never complain about seeing them. To me it's no different than alligators in Florida. They are there, if there are signs near the water stay away. Scorpions, don't go crawling in the bushes or the flowers and keep an eye on where you walk if you are hiking somewhere just like you would anywhere else.
Agree with @afan . I've been to Arizona a few times and I have never seen a scorpion. It isn't like they are everywhere and you can't help stepping on them. It is just like alligators in Fl. Watch where you are going and be careful.

Meanwhile, DD leaves for a last stint at UT tomorrow, returning Saturday morning, and has packed nothing for her move to disney Saturday.:sad2:

DD flies out tomorrow for her study abroad and will not be back till July. She is still not all the way packed, her room is a disaster and I told her we are not leaving until it is somewhat clean. Ughhhhhh AND we have not bought her return ticket yet, which she needs before she gets on the plane tomorrow, because we are still confused on when exactly she can leave! Their semester dates are soooo weird. DH is panicking. I am strangely calm.

My car doesn’t even have cruise control lol

My car has it but I’ve never used it
Another great thing to have and I'll have to have in my next car. Not just cruise control but adaptive cruise control. The car will automatically slow down and keep a set distance between you and the car in front of you. Helps you avoid having to start and stop your cruise control all the time. I love cruise control for road trips. I use in the rental car as well.

Just to keep up the car talk - I have to have back up camera, back up sensor (beeping), blind spot, navigation (need the bigger screen than my phone), hands free phone. I am definitely spoiled when it comes to what I need in my car.

Yes, yes you are lol. I don’t have a single one of those things but my parents bought my car in high school so I can’t complain

Mine has it but it only works when it feels like it... it didn't feel like it the whole 11 hour drive home from FL in November :headache:

In good news, I've driven it so long with the check engine light on that the light finally burned out so no more irritating lights on my dashboard :rotfl2:

(yes yes, I know, check engine light is important and could alert me to a problem with my car, etc. lol)

I think that your job loss and subsequent search were a pretty major concern of many of us on the thread. I deemed it newsworthy :) I guess if the personal stuff gets out of hand we could rule not to include that in the future, lol. I mean, I could share with you all what my lunch is tomorrow and link it there but that seems un-newsworthy HAHA!
I think your going to eat a turkey SUB

So uhhh that PM I just sent you about helping to keep up with this new endeavor will probably go over real well, HAHAHA!! :rotfl:

Lol. I have not been able to keep up with the ~500 daily comments on r/churning and the 10+ new pages of posts to this thread every day, and still live my real life. I’m making some progress though, so maybe I can step up in a week or two.

I’ve got the back up camera and sensor with the beeping, blind spot detector...but for some reason just can’t get use to driving with the cruise control
Do love my Hyundia blue link remote start in the cold weather too

BUT the big difference between scorpions and alligators is that scorpions are tiny and crawl into beds and in shoes. I can’t tell you how many people I know who’ve been stung getting out of bed in the night or getting into their covers to go to bed. Alligators are easier to avoid if you just stay away from the lakes. Not trying to put a bad rap on AZ. I just know a lot of people stung there!

Lol...in NY my car couldn’t pass the yearly inspection with the check engine light on...my son lives in Florida and they don’t require inspections.....as my sister who has lived in Florida 30 years tells me ...we can put any old piece of crap on the road and people do....sort of scary

Love a Honda. I drove my brother's Honda Accord home the other night. It has 268,000 miles on it and drives so great I was wondering to myself how much he'd be willing to sell it to me for lol

That car was great probably would of lasted a lot longer but unfortunately she was trying to kill a spider(deathly afraid of them) on her windshield one day on her way home from HS and road over a sign...which pierced the transmission...the car was fixed...but was never the same...

Huh, that's interesting. My light was only on because the sensor in my gas tank had gone bad and it always thought my gas cap was loose. Funnily enough, my brother actually told me his Honda occasionally has the same issue haha.

oh my! I can't imagine the level of stress sending your child to study abroad. I am concerned enough about Florida.:crazy2:

This is what I was thinking. I remember a coworker told me when she lived there she found one crawling in her baby's crib. :faint:
I think I had pushed that to the back of my mind and it popped back to the front with all this scorpion talk today.
